One little specification on Ozma: The devs let him have one status weakness, Slow, as a joke. He actually has his own special passive ability I like to call "Nuh uh I go first" where any time you issue an order his ATB bar fills instantly, he picks his move, and executes it BEFORE the order you issued. So the only 'safe' time to issue orders is during the animation of one of his abilities, otherwise he will get his turn in-between all your characters' turns.
If I remember correctly not don't remember if esuna cleanses slow but I belive you also can give him darkness wich he will waste a turn to cleanse with esuna despite the fact he only uses magic.

There are a lot of incredible emotional moments during FF9, from Blank turning to stone, to Zidane realizing he's not alone and all that. But damn, when Steiner goes from a level 9 screwup to a 15+ knight because he badly wants to protect the city and his sweetheart, awh
Honestly the moment with “you are not alone” and Zidane was never emotional to me, because it was so out of character and so short for him. He’s always known that a person’s origin doesn’t define them, and he went through it with Vivi. It makes zero sense for him to get so down after finding out his origin.

Although, it IS interesting that out of all of them, Zidane and Kujo are the only ones who's forms retain a pinkish hue, while the others are primarily green.

I've tried a no exp run of this. The most difficult part was figuring out how to avoid exp for the mandatory fights. I quit at the merged jesters boss, but it seemed doable with a bit of patience and good rng.
@@rrickydanby Bosses dont give exp regardless of virus. Jesters was just wiping me too quickly. It's only the lesser foes, like black mages and such that give exp. You can get around that by using the guest party members to win the fights, or inflicting petrify status.

Thank you. I don't know if you noticed, but I had Quina in my party after leaving Black Mage Village on Disk 3 at 46:15. This was because I was getting the frogs, but I was told Quale was weaker than Hades. So I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.
@@NGPlusVideos that's fair; the nostalgia in me was waiting for the moment you would talk about wasting time with those frogs, but I completely agree he's the weakest of the supers (also been binge watching you videos lately, your videos are all on my childhood games)
One thing that was missed (or unknown?) is that every character gains a 50% boost to attack while in Trance, on their regular attack, in addition to the command change that everyone except Steiner gets. If Steiner's 200% attack boost is okay, then wouldn't everyone else's also be okay? Not that it makes much difference most of the time, but it would certainly have helped Quina out.
Yeah that's kinda why I had to word it quite specifically by saying 'unique' abilities/buffs. Otherwise it would have been too easy I reckon. Thanks for watching 😀
Yeah, if he wasn't going for just the unique stuff I think the run could have been a little less frustrating. Freya is a MASSIVE DPS with her trance up, and spear is just good for AoE. Good, not great. Her regular attack command, however, can rival Steiner's in the mid to late game. I mean, I guess everyone can late game, but when I play casually I usually run a team of Zidane, Vivi, Eiko/Dagger, and Freya for the usual thief, mage, healer, warrior mix, and I've not seen a time where Freya doesn't hit the damage cap. And I'm not even that good at this game. I had no idea where the ultimate weapons and stuff were.
Lovely video! I love FF9 so much but still learned a lot from you. I didn’t know Spirit on FF9 was linked to Trance (figured it was like Spirit in the prior games, linked to magic defence) and didn’t know Black Waltz 3 attacked himself in the 2nd encounter if only Garnet is alive - interesting. Even watching a video like this gives me an urge to play 9 again lol. Such lovely designs, maps and music (oh the music 😍). I’m a new sub now. Great work.
I think that took you hours and hours to play like this and than the editing plus voice explanation, respect, i enjoyed it very well, keep up the good work 😁❤
This is awesome. FF9 is the first game I played and still my favorite from the series. The first time I played and hit the trance tutorial, with no clear explanations, my child brain assumed "free energy? I'll give that to Garnet to help her!" And ooops!! Game over!

Great work.
I can't believe every party member in Final Fantasy 9 has a trans mode. Quite progressive for 2000!
Game over!
You would totally assume that actually, I never put that together ha ha. Thank you :)
ff9 is one of my favourite games and seeing a different sort of challenge was so refreshing and interesting. plus i love your style of narration. definitely going to be giving your other videos a watch! and great job on the run! seriously really impressive
1:15:55 "But then we all get hit with curse..."
The way your voice sounded when you said this slayed me 😂
Despair due to being affected by The Wizard's Curse 😔
“Final Fantasy IX is my favorite Final Fantasy Game”.
Yep. Me too. First one I finished and everything about it is just great. Characters, world, battle systems. Perfection.
Great run iv never thought to do this kind of a challenge what a treat!
I swear, the brits are all insane. I have only seen you guys doing these runs where the game is just pain and suffering through the entire thing.
Oh well, just means another one of you masochists I gotta sub too.
oh hell yea. a challenge video about a mechanic ive never heard of in a game I haven't played and its over an hour long? this some peak "i need something happening in the background" content. Cheers for the content.
God tier vid man I'm surprised someone had the patience to beat the whole game just using Trance xD
Literally the only things you can encounter while stuttering is the ragtime mouse and the gift monsters.
Excellent analysis & run video! Thanks for uploading!
This is amazing! FFIX is perhaps my favourite game let alone FF and it's so wonderful to see this broadly-defunct aspect of it explored so thoroughly. The prep that must have gone into this is insane.
I have to comment on how much so many of these pronunciations made me so uncomfortable - not that I have any reason to think my way is any more likely to be correct than yours lol. I guess we decided as kids how we were gonna say these things and took it to heart 😂 I even wondered when it got to 'firaga' whether you were just doing it to wind me up
I love returning to this video every now and then and playing it in the background while i work. You have such a great way of making these limiting challenges very engaging. also a great way to relive the game without completely spoiling the gameplay. Hope you make more ffix challenges!
Wow, High Tide is *much* better than I thought.
As a big FF9 fan, this was quite enjoyable to watch. Learned quite a few things too~
Subscribed based on the video title alone. I have thousands of hours in FFIX since I was 12. You're insane, and I like it.
I never thought of this run. It must have taken you ages and some time off your life. Thanks for the great content. Liked que subscribed.
This has to be one of the most tedious looking challenges i have ever seen. You have the patience of a saint.
Absolutely fantastic run, well worth the wait. FF9 is my favourite game of all time, so I was thrilled to see this alert pop up. Couldn't click fast enough! And perfectly timed, too, to watch before bed. :) Enjoyed this tremendously, thank you.
I don't know what to say! I'll start by saying that FF9 may be my favourite game too (Top 5 at least). I'm glad you enjoyed it, and that it wasn't too long. Thanks a lot :D
Thank you for suffering for us! These videos are fun, informative, relaxing, entertaining- everything!
I’m so impressed by what I am seeing. Very enjoyable watch.
Great video, especially as a huge final fantasy fan ! Keep doing stuff like this if you can sometimes ofcourse. Channel is going places for sure :) subbed and liked without a doubt.
Having done the level 1 Ozma run I didn't even question if this could be done but I applaud the effort since I know how much fun it is to play that game even with self-imposed challenges like that
Damn, this must have taken ages to complete. Great respect, mate!
I haven't played this game in years and don't remember half this stuff. Good run.
Really nice! I don't even know final fantasy that much and you kept me watching 1h+
I'm a big FF9 fan and the only real big flaw with this game Is how slow it is, especially with random encounters.
This was an amazing video (and brilliantly written/edited)! IX's my favourite FF too, so seeing you use the mechanics in such unusual and intricate ways was a ton of fun. Fantastic work, and I appreciate the focus your channel has on classic games so far - I subscribed =D
Jesus, what a run! Well done!
What a madlad! A lot of effort went in there. Excellent work.
Once more I applaud you my friend, for your ridiculous sense of patience and perserverance
I've watched this video probably 7 or 8 times. You are awesome! More FF content would be nice
Subbed because FF9 is my favourite FF too, also your content is amazing and we need more of it :)
Man that main menu theme brings back so many feels. Ff9 is my absolute favorite ff game after ff6
I'd like to thank you and this run for inspiring me to try this game out, I just finished it earlier and what an experience! My first Final Fantasy and it did NOT disappoint!
Amazing, thank you. And the fun don't stop: FF6, 7, 8 and 10 are also all amazing
Amazing. Thank you for doing this run.
Just found your channel love the content big fan of video game challenges and you play different games than most. FF9 is a great game.
This was an amazing journey through your challenge, thank you :)
This was excellent, thanks so much for uploading.
Great idea, great narration, great video. Instant sub
Final fantasy 9 isn’t my personal fave FF game but NGPlus is certainly my fave gaming channel 😍
I believe your channels views blew up very recently and I'm very glad such efforts are rewarded !
I have never played this game before but your commentary is fantastic!
