The thing I love about Vaan over all the FF MCs is literally how painfully stupidly normal he is. He accidentally fell into a plot to take down an evil empire. He was just living his life. It’s such compelling writing from my viewpoint. I get that he seems like such a tagalong, but he’s probably the most genuine character they’ve ever had.

Yeah, the transaction with Jules to get into the city I would say is not a violation of the rules, since 1) It's a mandatory transaction and unskippable, and 2) It's not a shop transaction, nor are you purchasing anything that will make the game easier for you to complete. It's entirely to progress the gameplay.
Love this game, i used to set myself self imposed challenges (inspired by UA-camrs like Ashe10 and DarkKefka) on the Ps2 version back in the day: solo only runs, no levelling up (horrendously challenging/easy to fuck up until you gain access to the Firefly accessory), limiting each party member to a specific class/style ect. I was so happy when the Zodiac Age came along and made some of those playstyles a part of the game. fantastic run btw! actually super interesting to watch (had to split it into two bc it was getting late for me) aaaaaand now i miss ffxii. perhaps it's time for me to play it again
FFXII is my favorite and first final fantasy i played! I grinded so much that rare undead in the dalmasca desert to get a high level early in the game lol
I started watching this channel through your Persona challenge runs and when I went to look at the other videos on your channel, I saw Vann and got a little excited. This is because my first Final Fantasy game was 12. However, when I started watching the video, I realized it wasn't the same as how I remembered it. Turns out, I played its sequel: Revenant Wings. Needless to say, I was a tiny bit disappointed, but I was interested to learn about the prequel to the game I played. Overall, this was a great video, and it would be nice if you could do some kind of challenge run with Revenant Wings.
Ah that's actually a great idea. I'll probably get around to RW at some point because it's a fun little sequel that holds a lot of nostalgia for so many people. Thanks for checking out the channel! :)
Hey friend. UA-cam blessed me with this video and i have to say, as a hard 3000 hours Final Fantasy 12 fan, i enjoyed every second of this run. Just makes me want to play it again. I thought for sure you had like 200k subs seeing the amount of quality. Just a testament of how great your channel can be. 10/10 video Keep it up :)
Done alot of challenge runs myself of this game. Glad to see you just didnt get the dev debug weapons like the Seitengrat and breeze through it. have done my own solo run and its interesting to see how other people do some of the bosses. The mimic queen really is a pain! my strategy was to grind holy motes for 3 hours before going in T_T
Fun challenge. This is one of my fav games and quite underappreciated in UA-cam content.... It's been so long since I've just played thru the normal game vs power leveling or using skips, it was fun to just see you play thru with this quest!
Monk as the first job would be the perfect choice for this challenge, since at the worst case scenario, you could just grind to get the brawler license and punch everything to death. Great video my dude, looking foward for your next challenges
Youve inspired me to do a run doing the opposite. No spending money and solo still, but only magic and techniks, no attacks OR items! Going to see if it's possible. So far I know that you have to play through the rogue tomato and initial rat fight with Vaan in order to start using magic, as he needs 15 LP to unlock fire. From there, no attacks. Playing now, about to fight the flans :) awesome video, I hope you make plenty of FF challenge videos, it seems as though they're pretty popular vonpared to the Persona stuff. Good stuff, mate
I beat it without magic or summons, but none of the other restrictions. It's a limitation I put on myself in all games where it's an option. (Like Vagrant Story).
Good job! There is a rare (not that rare) skeleton in Dalmasca Westernsand who drops a good spear, you can just kill him with a phoenix down. Your early game could be way better with that weapon lol.
Was just scrolling the comments after watching this and just noticed you're a smaller channel. I thought for sure with how professional this video was you'd have at the minimum 100k. Great stuff man, keep it up.
So tip the area with the mimicks in the dungeon there's actually a grinding spot with the crystal before the mimick queen boss if the power is low enough zombies will spawn in the railroad room and the outside area, and you can go back and forth touching the crystal to reset the zombies and grab a lot of loot to sell and get a decent amount of licence points and exp
as for me, ever since I played the original FFXII on PS2 console, Vaan has been a super great "third-person" viewer/narrator who watched Ashelia, Basch, and duo Sky Pirates meddling with Ivalice's histories. Compared to any other FF main protagonists where they are all having superpower/abilities, Ashe should be the main protagonist of FFXII yet we are indulging the moments from Vaan's eyes.
That's a really good way of putting it, yeah. It's a rare case in which the protagonist and the main character are not the same person. Thanks for sharing!
@@RPGchallengeruns I'm not gonna surprise if Halim Ondore (the narrator of the game) turned out that his storytelling are from all of Vaan's PoV. Atm I'm replaying some Ivalice Alliance world games (FF tactics Advance 2). Really hope they would make some sequel of FF XII Revenant Wings but in FFXII Zodiac style.
Dude that's amazing!!! I remember taking a lot of time just beating the game. As I will go dor the platinum at some point, I will be taking notes from you

Love your challenges, hope to see more from you! If you are already doing final fantasy games, I would love to see a run of final fantasy 7 using only the materia that lets you learn and use enemy skills. The only issue is you don’t get it until a bit into the story, and also can’t really learn anything until you leave the first major city for the first time, so I’m not sure if it would even be feasible as a challenge run.
I actually did that run years ago. The general consensus is that it’s a “no materia” run until you have access to the first enemy skill, then it’s all about managing MP
Projared did a fantastic job of explaining why the Star Wars comparison is absolutely ridiculous couldn't have said it better. Great challenge run regardless
It'd probably take a LONG time, but I'd love to see a No Sphere Grid run of FFX in this style. I've heard from a friend that Rikku is the key due to her Steal/Use skills, but I doubt she completely trivialises encounters - she can do like 10 hits of 9999 damage if you use the right items, but you've got to figure out the items you want to use and the items you need to combine to make them for each encounter, so I presume there's some good tactical forethought needed which should make it not trivial even by that point. And until you get Rikku... Good luck!
FFX NSG runs seem super fun, but I want these runs to be unique ideas that haven't already been done, if possible, just to keep things fresh. :) One possibility could be NSG + one other restriction.
@@RPGchallengeruns A very respectable idea, I thought adding more to it might make things too imposing so didn't go any further. Perhaps, given the difficulty in a NSG run is likely to be in the early stages (before Rikku/powerful item combinations) and in your characters surviving attacks, you could add a restriction on Aeons in some way; apparently they get stronger as you progress the game regardless of your Sphere Grid status - every 30 battles (even running away) they gain 1 level, apparently, and they gain stats whenever you visit a temple for the first time, meaning that Aeons effectively have a 'hidden sphere grid' they automatically progress through, making them the prime candidate for further restrictions.
Plus, you could of use the Mythril Blade that Basch got when he joins the second time. And if you have a wiki or the Fandom page open, you can see all the chest with different items that varies, along with better equipment.
You can access the Westersand and start Dustia farming before getting Penelo. I believe the Westersand has a Diamond Armlet (elec resistance) that you can get at the same time which would have helped against the mimics in Barheim Passage. Also, Mateus the Corrupt is male - the feminine figure is an unnamed ice goddess held captive.
I remember getting this game as a kid & being mesmerized by it. But I had NO idea what I was doing at all lol I got to an airship of some sort before being demolished by a boss over and over and over and over. Then gave up
After killing belias, you can unlock the ferry to travel over to the secluded path of the ester sand. Since you help his father, the travel is for free. With that you can enter the Dalmasca Estersand (Broken Sands) and find an obelisk (some 68 ATK spear) and a few heavy armor pieces, in particular the diamond armor. Once you finished that, you can even continue through the Silika wood and, if you want, kill the Boss there to get into Nabudis. Your chars won't see much trouble afterwards, if you can manage to run past everything without dying. I would have started as a machinist combined with either a shikari or a bushi for the combo weapons. You can get a Sirius in the Sandsea which is 17 ATK and since it scales without care about the character stats, you can just beat almost everything available with it once you have it.
Why does this dude's channel only have 3k subs???? I was just watching, not thinking anything of it, like sure. cool. well established channel that does cool stuff. and then saw the sub count. This channel should be way bigger. I mean, niche audience, sure, but still hundreds of thousands or something. This is great content
Yeah you could get so much stronger in that version! I'm also not a big fan of the jobs system in the remaster but I see why they used it. Thanks for checking out the video! :)
in case anyone actually reads this and would wanna try it themselfes, aside Dustia, there is another rare game in the westersand named Fidelant, its a skelleton that also can be killed by using Phoenix downs and has a 3-12% chance to drop a heavy lance, a spear weapon u can use with the uhlan class that can usually only be obtained in the Jahara shop which would make earlygame a lot easyer, or you just skip that, go knight and go for the 3% steal from the flowering cactiod on trial floor 3, beein the Karkata sword with a 96 attack power
Watching a challenge run for a game you haven't played? That's some serious dedication to the content, honestly I really appreciate you watching my stuff! :)
Funny you mentioned "Lead Balloon" cause there's a game series called "bloons tower defense" where you use monkey based towers (and some that aren't) to pop bloons (their version of balloons and blimps). A lead "bloon" actually exists there. Also a few blimp based ones that have lead property.
Yeah the algorithm is weird - it EXPLODED again this week, now 50% more subs than last month! So hello to you too, Wolly Ram! Hope you're enjoying the runs! :)
I've always wanted to see a funny challenge of FF12 using only Axes, Hammers and finally Hand-bombs. Weapons that do random damages are always curious to see how much "help" they contribute or do next to nothing and waste time.
Random damage? Axes and Hammers always do a high damage, it's an easy way to kill the enemy quickly with a heavy strike and specially if your character has high HP and it's gets better with leveling up
I think this is the only final fantasy game that i can consider not easy, like it actually has some difficulty to it, so this is a nice choice to make this challenge.
@@RPGchallengeruns No problem! I would like to see a challenge run with vagrant story, no one does anything with that game and is one of the best rpgs of all times.

@@RPGchallengerunsrecommended this for me as well :)
"...extinguishing the flames to temporarily stop [the demon wall's] movements"
YOU COULD DO THAT??? ive played the og ffxii and i never knew this 😭
fantastic run btw! actually super interesting to watch (had to split it into two bc it was getting late for me)
aaaaaand now i miss ffxii. perhaps it's time for me to play it again
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
FFXII is my favorite and first final fantasy i played! I grinded so much that rare undead in the dalmasca desert to get a high level early in the game lol
My first too! That grind can be really helpful because some of the later hunt mobs are tough cookies!
10/10 video
Keep it up :)
Hi, thanks for checking it out! Nice comments like yours keep me motivated. 😀
(Also, 3000 hours?! WOW!)
That's some serious dedication!
Wow thank you for making a video about this game! I've always thought ff12 was underrated and I never see people making videos about it
Fun challenge. This is one of my fav games and quite underappreciated in UA-cam content....
It's been so long since I've just played thru the normal game vs power leveling or using skips, it was fun to just see you play thru with this quest!
Yeah, sometimes it's fun to switch things up or play the game in an unusual way. Glad you had fun - appreciate you checking out the video!
Or at l ast kill enough to get 15 LP then fight rogue tomato
That sounds super fun! 😀 And yeah, lots more FF content coming in the future because it's absolutely popping off! Cheers.
Before this video I've never heard of the Baltoro Seed and this is after a number of completions, including a Platinum run! FFXII can still surprise!
Great games the original and the zodiac age. Good job on the solo win!
Thanks! And totally agree, this is one of the all-time best JRPGs in my opinion.
The ps2 strategy guide is a work of art to be fair. If you bought one then you wouldn't have been disapointed.
I'm tempted to buy one now, just for nostalgia.
You're videos are so great! Keep going im cheering for you!
Appreciate the kind words and all of the comments. People like you keep me motivated! New video coming on Saturday! :)
I beat it without magic or summons, but none of the other restrictions. It's a limitation I put on myself in all games where it's an option. (Like Vagrant Story).
Ah so very similar to what we did here! Nice! 🙂
21:02 The ring around the rosie technique. It looks funny but quite effective to slow down big bosses from hitting you constantly.
Couldn't stop watching, what an AWESOME challenge!
What an AWESOME comment! 😆
Haha thanks for the support, appreciate the kind words!
Good job! There is a rare (not that rare) skeleton in Dalmasca Westernsand who drops a good spear, you can just kill him with a phoenix down. Your early game could be way better with that weapon lol.
Thanks! Yeah that would've been super helpful haha.
Maybe I'm a simple man but I rofled at that lead balloon-quip :D
Awesomely done! This is an epic video and heroic quest!
You saying, "MASSIVE DAMAGE!" gets me so hype for some reason. Ready to see your channel skyrocket!
Hahaha I wish!! XD
Honestly I'm just here to have fun and share it with you all. Thanks for the kind words - see you in the next one! :)
Props for the amount of effort this must've taken. I'll be following your channel with great interest.
Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words! :)
Was just scrolling the comments after watching this and just noticed you're a smaller channel. I thought for sure with how professional this video was you'd have at the minimum 100k. Great stuff man, keep it up.
"Professional"?! Aarrgghh!! That makes it sound serious and scary! Haha 😂
Thanks for the kind words - support like yours keeps me motivated!
Your channel was recommended to me out of nowhere! And I am so glad to be here!
Enjoy binge watching them all. Plenty more to come! 😀
Thanks, that's good to know!
37:25 thats some mario maker trolling right there and i love it
as for me, ever since I played the original FFXII on PS2 console,
Vaan has been a super great "third-person" viewer/narrator who watched Ashelia, Basch, and duo Sky Pirates meddling with Ivalice's histories.
Ello Mate ur P4G without new skills vid popped up in my recommendeds n now I watched all ur current videos can't wait to see more from u dude ^^
Dude that's amazing!!! I remember taking a lot of time just beating the game. As I will go dor the platinum at some point, I will be taking notes from you
Yes, go grab that Plat! 😀
I used to be a massive trophy hunter, absolutely love the things.
Best of luck to you!
cc
I never would have played this game but I am thinking of picking this up myself!
100% recommend.
It was my first ever JRPG though so maybe I'm just biased haha.
Love ❤ these challenge runs. 10/10 dude I really hope you can do this for a living soon!
Appreciate the kind words! :)
I don't think there would ever be a big enough audience to do it full-time, but it's a really fun little hobby!
Vann "what am I looking for?"
Me "A new weapon perhaps?"
Loving the content, keep this up and you'll definitely get the recognition you deserve.
Ssubscribed
Haha thanks, glad you're enjoying the videos :)
My friend, I really do love this video. I have seen it a few times now and love it every time. Its almost therapeutic relaxing and watching. I appreciate, so much, all the hard work that went into it. Its such a joy. Massive Damage mate :)
You're really kind, thanks for all of the nice comments! :)
Wow for a pretty new channel you produce good quality videos. Keep going, you deserve more love :D
That's very nice of you to say. Thanks for spreading some positivity!! :)
Fantastic video pal, look forward to the next one!
Thanks for the kind words! 😊
Appreciate you being here.
It's good to see Vaan all the time.
Wow! I'm impressed! I mean, I thought you might get far but holy crap, I never thought you'd actually finish the game! Well done to you! You gained another subscriber
Thanks for doing this run! now im inspired to try a few challenges for the game now :)
Best of luck!! :)
@@RPGchallengeruns thanks, any suggestions? 🤔
Great run with a good mix of strategy and grinding. +1
I luv ff12 I'm replaying now .my first time playing international version
Great, hope you enjoy it!! :😀
My good sir, you just earned a new subscriber, I was waiting for someone to perform Solo runs in FFXII.
Great Job!
Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy our future runs! :)
This was such a fun video to watch
Appreciate the kind words! :)
That's actually a really interesting suggestion! FF7 is definitely on the "to-do" list!
Oh I know, it's just a joke, all in good fun, no offence intended. 😂
Your channel deserves way more subs
One possibility could be NSG + one other restriction.
Now he is the leading man
You can access the Westersand and start Dustia farming before getting Penelo. I believe the Westersand has a Diamond Armlet (elec resistance) that you can get at the same time which would have helped against the mimics in Barheim Passage. Also, Mateus the Corrupt is male - the feminine figure is an unnamed ice goddess held captive.
Thanks, that's very helpful!
I remember getting this game as a kid & being mesmerized by it. But I had NO idea what I was doing at all lol
I got to an airship of some sort before being demolished by a boss over and over and over and over. Then gave up
Just found your channel through this video and i absolutely love it! Hope to get more FF challenges!
You can get a Sirius in the Sandsea which is 17 ATK and since it scales without care about the character stats, you can just beat almost everything available with it once you have it.
dude awesome , really like it want to see more
Appreciate you checking it out! 😀
My fav game is not yet forgotten. Nice video!
We will never forget this absolute GEM of a game!! 💎
You're very kind! :)
I'm still new here and still learning. But I'll keep making the videos so long as people want to watch them! ^^
his account is 4 month old. i think hes doing fine so far
Major prima liquid vibes - love the content!
You're too kind, thanks a bunch! :)
fun editing trick if you use a dog clicker when you mess up just add a click for every time you mess up a specific line to keep track
Wise words! I'm actually terrible at reading from a script, it takes me SO MANY attempts! XD
Ff12 is my first ff games it's such a joy see it played again by gamers
Yeah there's a lot of love for the game appearing here in the comments, it's really nice to see! :)
I once did the Solo Vaan run, although its much less annoying in the better version of FF12 (original version).
Yeah you could get so much stronger in that version! I'm also not a big fan of the jobs system in the remaster but I see why they used it. Thanks for checking out the video! :)
One of my favourite FF games
Great choice! 😀
in case anyone actually reads this and would wanna try it themselfes, aside Dustia, there is another rare game in the westersand named Fidelant, its a skelleton that also can be killed by using Phoenix downs and has a 3-12% chance to drop a heavy lance, a spear weapon u can use with the uhlan class that can usually only be obtained in the Jahara shop which would make earlygame a lot easyer, or you just skip that, go knight and go for the 3% steal from the flowering cactiod on trial floor 3, beein the Karkata sword with a 96 attack power
You're fun to watch bro. Keep it up.
Thank youuuu :)
Imagine beginning an epic adventure with your best friend and the first thing he does is put his sword through your sternum
😂😂
I haven't played this game
I just hope to see this channel grow man, it's some amazing content
Watching a challenge run for a game you haven't played? That's some serious dedication to the content, honestly I really appreciate you watching my stuff! :)
The 4X speed button is so nice and perfect for this type of free-roam combat +gambits
More RPGs need gambit systems
100% agree!!
XIII would’ve been massively improved if it had a gambit system
Funny you mentioned "Lead Balloon" cause there's a game series called "bloons tower defense" where you use monkey based towers (and some that aren't) to pop bloons (their version of balloons and blimps).
A lead "bloon" actually exists there. Also a few blimp based ones that have lead property.
Ah I never knew that! Sounds like a fun spin on the popular phrase.
UA-cam's algorithm must be sick, it recommended me a small channel I actually like.
Hello there 👋
Yeah the algorithm is weird - it EXPLODED again this week, now 50% more subs than last month!
So hello to you too, Wolly Ram! Hope you're enjoying the runs! :)
Your channel is awesome!
No, YOU are awesome!
Agreed, plus it's super fun! :)
Thanks for the support!
@@RPGchallengeruns No problem! I would like to see a challenge run with vagrant story, no one does anything with that game and is one of the best rpgs of all times.
@ 0:28 bro you dot have to keep selling em, you had me at ff12
Gotta love FF12! 😀
