I'm with the people on the idea of more class based rather than hero, but what i really wish for is unique and interactive gameplay. What i mean by this is what if the Sigint would actually have to interact with the server and actually find certain codes or items inside rather than just going up to it and interacting with it for said amount of time? and the Fldeng actually repairing doors and lights? (though he will probably have a turret like all the others). I also wish that the characters don't have obnoxious personalities and voicelines and actually think none at all could work.
Fantastic as always, particularly loved the audio on this one. Weaving the tech motifs in with the original soundtrack was excellent. Agree with everything you said and Strider's renders were badass!
First nice explained video, and second, i really hope the "heroes" will turn out to be like in Hunt Showdown because they worked perfectly for an extraction shooter that Marathon is going to be
yeah this new direction could easily mean that the game is actually more like destiny than a traditional extraction shooter, which is exactly what bungies audience would like. Also because of the success of cyberpunk as a franchise they could draw inspiration and do cool things like hardware upgrades for the clones that enable things like stealth or higher jumps for parkour or strength for melee builds like cyberware does

I thinks it’s going to be like destiny where u can have 3 different characters and they each have different abilities/cybernetics and u can customize them still to your liking Ngl I actually kind of like this approach if true.
All this concept art makes more sense. to make destiny players feel more comfortable they were going to have 3 class types and allow us to customize our runners uniquely to everyone so it can be a story about us a legendary runner. But this concept art was before they gutted bungie and swapped out someone who was gonna make a good game with someone who’s gonna use this game as a cash cow. So this concept art though basically proves different custom clases doesn’t matter since they aren’t gonna do that.
@joelmorales7059 How is Joe zeigler Is someone who is gonna make it a cash cow? How is removing customisation making the game more monitized? if anything, it would remove their ability to monitize it easily through purchasable cosmetic upgrades
@@bonnuuoq I wasn’t fully myself when I left that comment, probably why I didn’t get my point across but what I meant was that a game without player expression is a game with a fan base that won’t ever be fully immersed or connected, meaning not many memorable moments and less connection to the game. Me being a runner who wants to make a name for themselves is a direct t connection between me and the game, being able to customize most things about that runner only increases my connection with this character and the game adding more meaning to the player. Being fartbuckle of the fart buckle system make me feel less connected to the character because it’s this hero’s story not mine and bungie adding full body skins of fart buckle red and green (reskins like most hero shooters) makes me feel even less connected to the game and the character that I can’t even make my own. This game with the change of directors is obviously going to go the apex, overwatch and valorent route where they add meaningless customization to make the most money. We all saw how bungie is making ends meet with destiny’s and we all love destiny for the fact that it’s us we are the guardian a totally unique character from anybody who plays the game other then the title of course. But proof that destiny and other games where your the main character don’t make money only makes strong bonds and connections with the game and its players. But in the industry money if more then that we’ve seen with crazy prices of customization in video games like over watch and call of duty. Games with premade characters adds less work to artist and more money to company’s who cash on the tons of copy’s of skins of these hero shooters, they make money from soulless addicted gamers (CSGO fanbase) but they don’t make connections that will make people play they’re games for ten years straight. (People have played destiny 2 for 10 years straight and despite them whining about it not getting attention and being worse then ever they are still mad that it’s gonna stop being updated as much)

I do think that they will provide players with ALOT of visual customization, Not just cash grabbing color changes. This game is perfect for it and if anything, Destiny's amazing level of customization only proves their ability to provide such. As it stands, from bungie we have heard that they are going to allow for a lot of visual customization. From a single rumor we have heard that they where "going back on that". Until we hear more than a singular rumor or get confirmation from bungie themselves i personally will remain optimistic and i think others Mabey shouldn't get upset about it until it at least becomes more than just a rumor. Also, from a monetary standpoint i dont think that they would remove peoples ability to express themselves. Not only would this make people upset and feel like they have taken a step back from what they have done in destiny but also simply decreases their monetisation. I get where you are coming from however, and thanks for the comment. People are fair in being cautious.
honestly all the drama could have been avoided by just using the word "classes" rather than "heros", it's really not even 10% of the deal that people made it out to be, especially if it's balanced well.

Something just occurred to me about Marathon's presumptive gameplay: Regardless of how player kits or classes tie in, I suspect a lot of Marathon's gameplay structure could be specifically extrapolated from what Bungie attempted with both Destiny 2's Gambit and Halo Reach's Headhunter modes. That idea alone might poison the well further for some, depending on their personal sentiment towards either of those examples, but the design philosophy of "collect, bank, survive" is one they seem to always circle back to. This time however, rather than carving out a singular mode from an already existing game that can support it, there's a solid chance Marathon has been developed entirely around those goals. I think there's some serious potential in that, though I know there are many more who would likely cringe at anything with even a passing resemblance to Gambit. Whether a game like that could be successful or dead on arrival, at the end of the day, all comes down to execution.
Well said, all this drama around marathon currently won't matter upon release is the game is simply good to play or wheather it flops. Thanks for the comment!
Perhaps they will make a system similar to the one in THE FINALS game, where you can choose one of three classes - light, medium and heavy, and only then customize a specific type by choosing a weapon, a special ability and a set of gadgets. great vid tho

my bare minimum for this game to even be considered acceptable in terms of customization needs to be on par with destiny's. I don't care if they copy and paste destiny's if anything I'll be happy because it works well.
I've changed my tune a bit on this as well... Technically, Destiny only has 3 "Hero" archetypes, but the possibilities are endless when it comes to Player customization. I was guilty of overreacting and I am absolutely full of shit because I will be playing on day one, no matter what.
I'll likely try the game regardless. At the very least I'll give it attention at and a bit after release. I want this to be a "Bungie returning to their roots that made them great" story. I'm honestly less worried about the "hero shooter" controversy and more worried about current day Bungie having every MTX economy in Destiny 2. Premium currency? Check. Paid expansions? Check. Purchasable battle pass with upgradable fast track? Check. And it may be "F2P" now but it launched at $60. The idea that Marathon could be a AAA priced game full of MTX will turn me away long before a fairly priced consumer friendly hero/extraction shooter set in a world old Bungie made. Say what you want about them Bungie make games that just feel good to play and tell stories that are fun to experience. I want in, but I left Destiny at Beyond Light cause I couldn't stand what Bungie had become at that point. Besides I feel personally that the "cast of characters" is likely more akin to Hunt's than valorant. Also being that it is likely going to be cyborgs we are transferring our minds into for these away missions I think that could be neat. We'll see. I don't trust them, but I know they have the talent to pull it off. Time will tell if they do it right.
I really hope bungie is not this dumb and do something akin to cyberpunk 2077 with different operating systems, same weapons, same tools, different balancing pretty much
From what I understand the hero shooter claim it was a complete rumor with no evidence and seemed more like an IGN writer making an assumption based on Joe Ziegler's past to drum up clicks for IGN. I've looked and have never found anything to prove the claim. If anyone has seen proof, my bad. I'd love to see it even though I hope I'm right. Speaking on that the headlines read "Joe Ziegler replaces Chris Barrett" even though Barret was promoted to Executive Creative Director and Ziegler was hired to fill the old role. So, saying replaced is misleading and I believe between that and the pulling of resources away from Marathon has put a lot of people against Marathon. It's sad because Marathon has the potential to make extraction shooters mainstream.
@theogrewithin4049 I agree 100% I hope it's how you say, super unfortunate how everyone just thinks it's a hero shooter now. I wonder what the reporter heard to come away thinking it has hero shooter aspects
I mean.. it might not be bad... but having player customization like say tarkov where everyone is equal buy gear differentiates you from eachother.. is better than classes/heroes :/ Like this seems like a decision that comes from an inexperienced lead director, not wanting to take risks.... sad Edit: Welp, seems like the new director is reallly experienced and passionate about Marathon sooooo... good times ahead?

Everyone just yappin and just jumpin on the" hate this game cause it aint destiny" train. Imagine hatin a game that isnt even out. knowing bungies gunplay, this could change the genre forever. But gonna have to wait until they clarify from bungie themselves what exactly it is. Cant wait
idgaf about the 'heroes' thing people are caught up on, the thing that annoys me most about marathon is just that it feels like they're gonna be shoehorning this story that's really kind of ideal for a singleplayer experience into a live service world. not excited for that personally
I get that but I think it could work really well for a constantly evolving live service game, where over the "season" differnt bits of lore and areas are uncovered by the players
The term "hero" shooter is disliked because it immediately makes people think of woke characters with over the top personalities. Personally, Marathon would've been way more interesting if you could customize your own character combined with the gunplay of bungie. It could still have that gunplay, but the term "hero" shouldn't have been used at all. Maybe classes like destiny. Or operatives. Or simply runners. Anything other than hero. However, just because they say its a hero shooter doesnt mean that it will be like the other hero shooters. It could just be a reference to the genre itself and have its own spin on it. Which would be necessary. I dont want to play as a woke character in an extraction style game. The point is to shoot people and enjoy your time. Not listening to gender identity politics and banter. If they do that, then yes, Marathon is dead on arrival.
@chrisnichols2896 i agree, Bungie has never even mentioned "hero shooter" regarding marathon, the quote comes from a reporter, the fact that ppl have stuck onto the idea of a hero shooter is a bit crazy
Warframe, deep rock Galactic, path of exile, borderlands, all these games could legally sit under the hero genre. It just seems more like people who are mad at a hero shooter are the kind of people who assume every hero game plays just like overwatch.

I've changed my tune a bit on this as well... Technically, Destiny only has 3 "Hero" archetypes, but the possibilities are endless when it comes to Player customization. I was guilty of overreacting and I am absolutely full of shit because I will be playing on day one, no matter what.
Hahahaha, Yeah forreal
so many games i would play if they were selectable heroes
Well said. I totally agree, there seems to be alot of passionate people working on this game
You cooked on this Bonn! Glad I didn’t ask to see any previews cause the way you used my artwork is so awesome - can’t wait for the next collab ❤
You cooked!! your artwork is unbelievably good, was a pleasure working with you, i definitely look forward to working with you too!
I really hope bungie is not this dumb and do something akin to cyberpunk 2077 with different operating systems, same weapons, same tools, different balancing pretty much
Very nice content bro. Do you only make Marathon content or do you make other stuff too? (If so, how do you manage to handle more than one channel?)
Currently, im only covering marathon, unless a game comes out which really interests me. I think I'll stick to marathon videos
I mean.. it might not be bad... but having player customization like say tarkov where everyone is equal buy gear differentiates you from eachother.. is better than classes/heroes :/
Like this seems like a decision that comes from an inexperienced lead director, not wanting to take risks.... sad
Edit: Welp, seems like the new director is reallly experienced and passionate about Marathon sooooo... good times ahead?
let hope
I've never played marathon, but i love sci-fi settings in media. May the Lord's will be done in all the lives of creation, and God bless you all. Thanks be to God, the Holy Trinity. In Jesus's precious and almighty name, I pray amen.
@@ninjanosa3211 On Gawd!
Not making a campaign for a reboot like this is a massive misstep imo
Cope, they wouldn’t call that hero’s. They’d call that classes.
The article that called it „heros“ was from an outside source. Bungie never said the word heros themselves…
At this point, it's just pretty art and a nice animated video 🤷
huh
Everyone just yappin and just jumpin on the" hate this game cause it aint destiny" train. Imagine hatin a game that isnt even out. knowing bungies gunplay, this could change the genre forever. But gonna have to wait until they clarify from bungie themselves what exactly it is. Cant wait
@cinderella_man5649 forreal, like every other game this could blow up or die, just gotta wait for gameplay
idgaf about the 'heroes' thing people are caught up on, the thing that annoys me most about marathon is just that it feels like they're gonna be shoehorning this story that's really kind of ideal for a singleplayer experience into a live service world. not excited for that personally
Oh no, the "woke"! I hope it doesn't get me
I dont play hero shooters. I hope its not one.
heroes need to stop being done.
Warframe, deep rock Galactic, path of exile, borderlands, all these games could legally sit under the hero genre. It just seems more like people who are mad at a hero shooter are the kind of people who assume every hero game plays just like overwatch.
Deep Rock is classes, cut the crap. Isn’t Path an ARPG.. there’s no “hero genre”, this conversation was about hero shooter. You guys are lying to yourselves.
@@bannedmann4469about what? The conversation is about how very little having “hero” really means in defining a game as mentioning how games like Borderlands, POE, DRG, and Warframe, for that very vague “hero” style.
@@SpottedHares Yeah, you’re continuing to not make necessary distinctions.
@@bannedmann4469Bro u already made up ur mind because some unofficial source called it a hero shooter. And now you can’t even except that it could be way different than what you expect. In other words: you are dumb
nooooooooooo
BUNGIE is already dead
selectable cast = boring
Marathon wont be a hero shooter because it wont fucking release
theres a couple hundred people working on it, no chance they cancel it
the aesthetics to me are ugly as hell, they look like fisher price toy
They should’ve gone with an art style that looks like the original Marathon promotional art.
relax.. this is just concept.
i couldn't disagree more, i think its an extremely cool and unique aesthetic which we haven't seen in many if not any games so far.
As a day 1 Destiny player that has played EVERY piece of content to Final Shape............. I have zero intentions of buying this game 🫤🫤🫤
why?
