I love the terminal screen! Thanks for chatting with me, you have a great perspective on things and we are all fortunate to have your videos to watch while we wait.
Just watched all your videos and I'm as excited as you are for Marathon. Been a Bungie fan since the first Halo with Halo 2 being my all time favorite game ever. Also real big into Destiny as well. So it's safe to assume I'm highly looking forward to this. I've seen a lot of comments throughout your videos complimenting the quality of your editing, and I just want to usher in the same tune. You truly do stand out as a high profile UA-cam channel. Wish all the best coming your way.
@@bonnuuoq thankyou for being such a positive force for the marathon community. its a little easy to lose interest in the new game, especially without many trailers but the arg is very deep and interesting and your content really helps me keep up my hype, excellent work!
I've enjoyed Jake's stuff since the Marathon trailer was released and now I've added Sadow, Bonn and Sneaky as YT'ers to watch for Marathon content after watching Jake's stuff. I hope all your channels take off upon release. I feel like we need fresh faces to emerge from the established Destiny YT'ers.
Great video. I think regarding the oxygen system and PVPVE the best comparison is Marauders. It is an extraction shooter set in space with a Dieselpunk universe. The premise is that World War 1 never ended and continued into space. The game has languished for the last year but is due to get a big update later this month. Obviously different from Marathon but some elements seem very similar. The oxygen is a match timer, you are a space pirate fighting other pirates and various naval forces, colonists and merchants. It can be pretty sweaty with a focus on inventory management. I think Marathon will be a lot more accessible and playable with a controller. Definitely something to check out after the update later this month, there will be a wipe when it comes out.
Sounds super interesting, if i have time i definitely want to check out a variety of extraction shooters, so i have something to better base my opinion on marathon off.
Personally I’m really concerned about Marathon after hearing about the pivot into “hero shooter”. Concord is living (or should I say dying) proof that not even big production values and solid gameplay will guarantee success if you want to break into an over saturated market, even if the report isn’t true a standard extraction shooter is still a relatively niche genre with the target audience already gravitated towards a few established games. Another point to bring up is that they wouldn’t make this sort of fundamental changes last minute if they had a clear and solid vision from the beginning. I truly hope I’m wrong and Marathon turns out to be amazing but everything we know so far shows that the ship has been on a collision course with an iceberg.
I agree. I hope Bungee realize that most players won't like the risk associated with extraction shooters. It's something you have to get over. Splitting the player base is not always a good idea but I think having strictly non-pvp activities available as well is necessary if they want mass appeal.
Destiny Player here, but also a programmer, so D2 "losing PvP" talent to Marathon has stung, but most of the hardcore PvP complaints really could never be fixed *in* D2 anyway. D2 has just had it's "end of 10 year story arc" moment and is going into chillout mode and I'm kinda done with it for the time being, but Bungie do great story, setting and the finest gunplay on the planet so I'm getting more excited regarding Marathon as a fresh start and a different genre of game to get stuck into. Looking forward to more Marathon content from both of you!
Something i noticed is that the full body prosthetics, our runners, is very similar to Digital extremes War frames. Your not the charter on the screen your the person controlling that manufactured puppet. the Runners and the Warframes are the "heros" in this shooter but their not who you the player are in this world. And i just have to wonder why Bungie wanted to go in this direction, yes it explains why after you get sniped by a camper at the loot extraction zone you get to comeback with the same runner you built up(unless that has changed). But no one seems to have a problme whit you player just not dying in just about very other game including millsims like Tarkov. Just what is the reason for trying to come up whit a explanation for something that players don't seem to think about to much?
ua-cam.com/video/d5f47RikJY8/v-deo.html I believe from how they've described marathon. It will be most similar to The Cycle: Frontier. They already said, unless this has changed which it could, that the matches are persistent. Meaning when you go into the match there will be players already on the surface. and when you leave the server will not ever stop. Unfortunately, the Cycle is the only extraction shooter that did this, and it recently shut down. however, the persistent matches were very interesting and I liked it better than hunt or tarkovs simple timer system.
Seeing the two best Marathon UA-camrs cooperating gives me hope for stable community of the franchise keep with the cool videos

ROOSTERTEETH SHOUT OUT!!!
31:23 so what would happen if you have a trio with one guy from Traxus, another from Mida, and the last guy from the UESC. Shenanigans will ensue.

Personally i think it just develops the world itself a bit more, in comparison to other games which don't care to include that type of info/lore

@theogrewithin4049 Yeah I totally agree! I think Marathon will be more similar to the cycle frontier than tarkov for sure
@theogrewithin4049 Do you have any insight on how locked doors/loot spawning worked in The Cycle? I really like the idea of persistent servers.
