On the Kitchen Aid, my mom used to make cakes and cookies and other wonderful baked goods and went through a mixer every 3-6 months until she got her KitchenAid. She's now had it over 30 years. I was so impressed with it, she got me one for a wedding present. It has made it through 3 moves over the course of 27 years since my wedding and still going strong! And put that thing through the wringer, too! My cast iron, my KitchenAid and my canners are some of my absolute must-haves in my kitchen. I've even picked up a couple at a local Thrift store for only $25 because I believe everyone who does any kind of baking should have one, like my niece, and a friend who helps take care of her grandkids. It's just one of those essentials.
I know, right? My dad’s parents lived in the city but both had country roots and spent summers with my great grandmother on their farm. Thrifting is worth the patience because you can really some some great things! So good to see you again, The Changing Fox!
What a great find with the mixer... And of course everything else! When we lost our home and everything in it... Yeah long sad story. However, as I was starting to replace things I was blessed by a wonderful woman with a stand mixer for Free!! While it's not a kitchen aid it's really old, works , it was her grandma's and she refused the payment saying that she just wanted it to be Loved 😍
Today I found 4 vintage heavy pressed glass tumblers that were so cool and well made in the USA. They were of a size people used before drinking half gallon size sodas! $1 for all 4. I love a good thrifting trip. At 67 I never tire of it and find so many practical home and garden items. OMG that coffee grinder. 💕
I'm from Freeport---they had so much manufacturing back in the day. Structo grills and toys, pianos, buggies, you name it. Now---NOTHING. The town has been decimated from loss of manufacturing. You have a nice channel--I love your enthusiasm. So glad I found you
I love watching your channel. I too got lucky with a KitchenAid mixer. I’ve never heard it referred to as the Toyota so I don’t know if that was meant to be positive or negative. It’s amazing and will last forever which is why they make the attachments universal to their ones from 100 years ago. I’ve had mine 10 years and bought it from someone who had it for 20 years.
I want the slow living...I would love to see more of your slow living. I find myself working my weekend away with no rest for my body and mind. How to tell myself not to do the stuff i have to do is the hardest part. Thank you.
Hi Becky! Aww, thanks so much and yes, dads are awesome! He’s truly my best friend. I could not believe I found that grinder!!! It’s one of my most loved antique finds for sure! Thanks for saying hello!
Thank you, sweet friend. I cherish it, and all of these pre loved items so much. It’s hard to find the quality and character in today’s items so thrifting has become my go-to!
I know what you are talking about. Love good quality kitchen and garden tools. I have and antique glass Jar funnel and I love to use it. You know where the head space is because you can see it. Scout for one. You will love it. Love your Dad. My dad was a teaching Dad. He made me install the dishwasher. (In all fairness he hurt his back and was unable at that time) But I did it. Love your channel. Thanks
I have loved these napkins (and cloth napkins in general). Thank you! It’s so nice to share my thrifted finds with someone that “gets” what treasures these items are!
Hello Sue! Thank you for saying hello! I just love second-hand finds! You can't be the quality, value and utility of items that were made to be passed down for multiple generations. I appreciate you saying hello!
FYI, there is a conversion kit that can turn your kitchen aid mixer into a manual one. Just in case you invest in all the attachments but want to go off grid and reduce power usage. 😀 Love your loot! Guess whose now searching for an antique coffee grinder!
The good thing about your older model KitchenAid mixer is that the parts inside are made out of metal and it's very rugged . . . The newer models have plastic gears and other parts inside and they break easily under a heavy load. Congratulations!
I'm almost 68 and I still work full time. I can, I dehydrate, , bake my own bread, I Mill grain for the bread also. I also do some fermenting. I just found your Channel and I have been watching about 10 videos a day. I've shared your videos with my friends and with my daughters. You are such an inspiration to me. You are truly the proverbs 31 virtuous woman. I will keep watching your Channel
Loved the coffee grinder . Long story short. Found one. Original Arcade Crystal glass top and replacement lower glass catch 1/2 off plus additional 10% off. On Goodwill website!! So excited . $78
You have the best dad ever! Would you share him? lol!!! Makes me miss my dad big time! Now i will be searching for an arcaid coffee grinder! Watching your channel is addictive and could get me into some fun trouble too!........
I am very happy with my thrifted, non-vintage jar lifter. It isn't the Ball brand like you showed, but similar. I love that it is spring-loaded. The jar holding end is very similar to the first one you show. It's win-win. comfortable grip, spring loaded, handles jars effectively.
OMG I live just out side of Freeport,I’ll. In the small town of Ridott ,I’ll. It’s very rural out here lots of cornfields horses, cows, pigs, chickens have it
Lovely items you've found! Please do check the vintage painted items, and even plain glass items, for lead. It was/is used in a lot of things for a long time and people have gotten lead poisoning from their kitchenwares. Of course, do your own research on this. For me, it's not worth risking my family's health with it when there's already so much working against our health in this day and age. I say that when I have an assortment of beautiful tea and coffee cups and saucers from my great grandmother sitting in my plate cupboard, and I have loved using them for poetry tea time with my daughter. But now I know it, I can't ignore it; and now I know it, I can't not share that information. My husband and I used sets of vintage napkins at our (admittedly smaller scale) wedding reception, and now we use them around the house in so many different ways. They looked so lovely on the tables.
Umm…interesting on the jar lifter. I actually have my grandmas in the cabinet and haven’t used it. 👀 looks like I’m going to have to pull it out and see how good it is
Hi Bonnie! I hope you can get your hands on one. It’s become such a cherished household and kitchen item. The knob allows you to grind from coarse to fine ( say for espresso) and it’ll never break on you! Facebook market place had them from time to time and the seller may even ship to you. Thanks for watching!!
You have some great pieces there! That coffee grinder makes me jealous. Once you start using your KitchenAid a bit, it will be your kitchen wing woman. Thanks for sharing your finds with us!
Hey Alicia! Isn’t that the thing about thrifting, you come across things you’d never expect. I still cannot believe I got my hands on that grinder and glass hopper. What you said about the kitchen aid is exactly what im hoping. The price was too good not to take the plunge. So good to see you!!!
My monster 40+ YO Kitchen Aide sits proudly on the side counter as if it is the boss of the kitchen. I purchased a grain grinder which has been wonderful to use to grind my own sprouted grains, but I think it is tough enough to grind other stuff too, like coffee beans. I have an Atlas pasta maker, manual one, that clamps on to the countertop and does a great job. Homemade pasta is so much better than the storebought stuff.
Hi Rhonda! The coffee grinder is absolutely the kitchen appliance that gives me the most joy other than my pressure canner! It’s beautiful, functional and I’ll know I’ll have it for a lifetime and be able to pass it along. They are worth hunting for! Keep an eye out for sellers that ship on Facebook marketplace!
What a beautiful channel! Thank you for sharing helpful info with a unique blend of classy professionalism and down-to-earth relatability. Looking forward to watching the rest of your content!
I'm slowly learning to use my Kitchen Aid (its been very nice to use it to make homemade butter). I'm eyeing getting the grain mill attachment so that I can start milling my own flour and purchasing wheat berries. I couldn't believe I only paid 80 bucks!
I make mashed potatoes in my Kitchen Aid using the paddle. It’s awesome! I use a new hand coffee grinder … now you will have me looking for an old one! I started using cloth napkins about 20 years ago, and am just starting to wear out the ones that were new back then. I love to buy vintage French and Belgian linens … better quality than anything I can buy new now from anywhere.
You sound like a woman after my own heart, Heather. I just adore the craftsmanship, function and durability of quality items. It’s rare to find given how fast and cheap we make things now. The arcade grinder has been such a joy to use every morning!! Can’t best cast iron! Hopefully you’ll find another set of linens that capture your heart and that you’ll enjoy for many years to come!
Hey Shanet! I still can’t believe it myself but I love this grinder! You can adjust the ground texture with the knob, it’s cast iron so it won’t break on me and it looks so good! I hope you can get your hands on one too! Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Cass, have you ever heard of a mouli julienne ,I was watching homesteading with the Zimmerman's, they were Memnonite, but they still live that way old fashion ,and simple , anyway she was shredding the Mozzarella cheese she just scratch made ,and ricotta, lasagna ,everthing came from their farm everything, anyway while shredding ,she used theis little machine handpowered small and simple ,worked like a charm ,I was able to get one on Etsy for 24.00, they had some over 100.00, whew that would have been too much ,I froze the video and found one that was identical to hers...I alwayd see it as a sign when i can find it ,just like the arcade coffee grinder love that thing!!! I dont know how to insert any picture in here or if I can .as soon as I saw it I thought of you, with your love of antiques and original items..??.
Oh my word…I share your enthusiasm. Going junkin is a favorite pastime with me. I adore old and previous loved items. A couple months ago I started picking up English ironstone/transfer ware dishes, absolutely gorgeous! The coffee grinder is amazing. Mine are all counter style none that mount! All the things you found are impressive! I got rid of paper products and replaced with cloth as well. This lifestyle is so relaxing and rewarding. Keep showing us your finds Cassandra, it’s fun to share your joy!
Hi Sharen! I wish I could see your English ironstone collection! I am an admire for sure but have yet to take the plunge (I'm certain is on its way). This haul represents items I've collected over the past year here and there. I have I still cannot believe I have that grinder! If you would like to have the second (black) one I got without the hopper, email me and I mail it to you :) I couldn't agree more with you on how this lifestyle is so relaxing and rewarding. Thank you for being such an encourager, Sharen!
Oh and I forgot we do have an acre and I do grow a lot of my own food. I have fruit trees and asparagus everything that you can think of. Raspberries. I make my own teas. Yes I've been learning how to become a farm girl for many years
AMEN, amen, AMEN! It doesn't take up any counter top space and I don't have to worry about an electrical part breaking down on me. I'm so happy I found this!
CASSANDRA!! I actually found my arcade crystal coffee grinder with the glass bean holder! And its been cleaned and sharpened and the man showed it grinding!! I am so hapoy and they put a jelly jar for the cup,i would have loved green, but Ill take black ,so I am as happy as the fish that got away!! Thank you for featuring it!! Now just have to get it mounted to a board andattached to my wall!! I have been buying whole beans in mylar in preparation for having this grinder even before I found it!! Next on list is the perfection!! How much do you usually pay for your perfections??? And are their parts still available if some parts need to be replaced ??? Also can you get any kerosene tank for a perfection or does it have to be specific to that model??? Please do more og your find videos ,you are so thinking of things that I wasn't ??? I am 63 fast heading toward 64, I want an manual kitchen as much as possible and i love finding historic pieces for my kitchen and home!!!thank you so much
OMG, Sharril, I am SO EXCITED for you!!!! You have found a piece of iconic American history...and did you say it came WITH the glass bean holder...do you know how rare that is?!!!! It sounds like your journey to this grinder was meant to be!!! I love waking up to the routine of grinding my beans and adding them to my french press. Freshly churned beans release so much more of that essential oil coffee flavor that makes your morning cup so delicious! I usually find my perfections priced between $40-80 depending on condition. The wicks are still available on Amazon but not the parts. You may want to have a plan to try to find 2 or 3 of them for this reason and ONLY purchase the heater if it has all the parts I named in my Perfection video. The tanks are interchangeable as long as you stick to the Perfection brand (different models work the same across the Perfection heater styles). Moving towards a manual kitchen is certainly the best decision I've ever made. I don't know if I"ll be able to top that last video, but I'll certainly continue to share out! Honey, I am squealing over here in excitement for you!!!!
I am so happy I found your channel today - you are so knowledgeable and inspiring! Your so gracious and kind and I love what you share with your parents. Thank you so much for creating such wonderful content - I can’t wait to start my garden & canning journey soon!
Awesome book finds!!! Love them. Brontë sisters books are good as well! I’m a quilter and reproduce the antique quilts or parts of them. Beatrix potters quilt is coming up soon I hope 💗
Wow! Such great finds! I love the good quality of linen napkins! I have several that were my great grandmother’s! I also have the same vintage jar lifter, that was my grandma’s and mom used it too. Still works to this day! They made things to last in the old days! Love how your dad looked at that and said he could definitely do what you asked! That is how my dad was! He taught me so much! One thing he taught me was how to rewire a lamp. Now I can look at a vintage lamp and know I can fix it! Love old original books too! I bet going into UK vintage bookstores was so fun! And that tea set is so beautiful! So is the coffee grinder!
What kind of camera do you use to shoot your videos? My husband is encouraging me to start my own channel. We’ll see about that.. I do t think I have the courage to be honest. I’m a video editor but ai don’t own a decent camera!

You can’t go wrong with a kitchen aid. I’ve used the same one for 30 years through 4 kids worth of baking for them. It still works like new!

The Kitchenaid chopping attachment that dices peppers and grain mill are the bomb. 1870’s homestead demos hers. I have the classic and I have the Pro
What a great find!! So happy dad could help out!! Very nice!
I love the relationship you have with your dad❤️
He is truly my best friend! Thank you for such kind words!
I'm an Antique Kitchenwear junkie!!! And they are all still in use in my kitchen too!!!

Have you any idea where to look for the manual conversion for kitchen aide??
Thats my goal be able to use my things i have off grid if necessary
Very nice haul!
Thank you!
The good thing about your older model KitchenAid mixer is that the parts inside are made out of metal and it's very rugged . . . The newer models have plastic gears and other parts inside and they break easily under a heavy load.
Congratulations!

Wow very interesting finds! I haven’t been antiquing really but maybe I will now
Lovely items you've found!
👀 looks like I’m going to have to pull it out and see how good it is
Hi Amy! Lucky you! I’m almost certain your grandmothers jar lifter is way better than the modern ones! Good to see you 😀
The coffee grinder is what I have been wanting for a while!!! What a find!!!
I have that same jar lifter. It was my grandmother's.. Might've even been her mother's
Lucky you! Anything that comes from grandma’s kitchen is sooo much better! 😀
Wow. They can last that long?!
@@chilove9955 Oh, yeh, but I don't use it much. Those things are built "like a Mack truck".

You will love the kitchen aid. I want the splash top, and pasta maker. Mine was past down to me from my mom

Honey, I am squealing over here in excitement for you!!!!
Ok second post same video. We are kindred spirits! We would so go antiquing together.
God... I wish there was one of these market's where I live 😏
I am so happy I found your channel today - you are so knowledgeable and inspiring! Your so gracious and kind and I love what you share with your parents. Thank you so much for creating such wonderful content - I can’t wait to start my garden & canning journey soon!
CHCEK OUT BALDWINS BOOK BARN IN PA...IT'S WORTH THE TRIP BUT PLAN ON SPENDING ALL DAY THERE.
Awesome book finds!!! Love them. Brontë sisters books are good as well! I’m a quilter and reproduce the antique quilts or parts of them. Beatrix potters quilt is coming up soon I hope 💗
Yes! I love the Bronte sisters! Canning, gardening and thrifting is truly the good life, right?!
@@BecomingaFarmGirl Yes ❤️ definitely
Hey, was that Stamford? I lived near there!
Hi there! Do you lead test your antique products?
