26:30 "You sense the theme here... the rationalizing of defeat with mythical beasts and the whims of children, instead of acknowledging the root cause..." No way D&D wrote that line. I disbelieve.
I think Martin has loosely based all of his characters off of historical characters. I believe we are looking too hard at prophecy and visions and not enough on what George has been saying about how his world works
Christiam Carrion I just took that as Jon acknowledging he was (believes himself to be) a bastard. Stark is not and would never be his family name. It's his father's name, not his, he is Snow, as he goes on to talk about.
The Riverlands isn’t a kingdom. Before Aegon’s Conquest, House Hoare ruled both the Iron Isles and the Trident as “The Kings of the Rivers & Isles”. After Aegon conquered it, the two regions were split up and ruled by different families
Personally I think Ned was planing to tell her after Robert died and his rightful heir was on the throne, since the whole reason for him not telling anyone was so that Robert wouldn't learn the boys true heritage
Saxons had a less than 3%legacy in the British isles. They rarely mingled with the conquered the were a ruling dynasty. The English the Welsh the Scots and the Irish share a heritage from the Basque country.
I get Brienne was in love with Renly or whatever (or she jusg admired him idk dont remember) but he has like ZERO claim (well no he does have a claim AFTER Stannis, and if we say that Shireen cant inherit the throne) Stannis is the rightful heir to the throne bc the Baratheons took it from the Targaryens! So after Robert hes the heir. The other people that can stake a claim are 1) Daenerys although the lords probably wouldnt like that very much (see Rhaenys Targaryen). But she is Aerys daughter so yeah 2) Jon if Rhaegar annulled his marriage to Elia in the books as well and married Lyanna. Then hed be the air over Daenerys, since Rhaegar was the heir and Prince of Dragonstone. 3) Young Griff provided he is Rhaegars actual son (I dont think so) and the marriage to Elia wasnt annoulled. As an aside I wonder if Rhaegar maybe married Elia in the faith of the seven and Lyanna in the Valyrian tradition (which probably wouldnt be valid as its not the dominant religion) 4) Roberts bastards if they get legitimised. In the show Gendry ends up having the best claim (after Jon I guess) Idk just a little rant
Its bcs houses of the Reach, despite being the bannermen to house Tyrell, kinda hate them. After Aegon extinguish the royal house Gardener, many much older houses of the Reach (Tarlys, Hightowers etc.) expected Aegon to name them the Wardens of the South. Instead, Aegon gave Reach to relatively weak and new house Tyrell.
