Aegon III was already crowned by Corlys and Larys before Cregan and the lads arrived in Kingslanding. He literally the last male left as heir. Sad as fuck because nearly all the dragons either died or flew away. The Dragonpit was in rubbles, half the city was starving from the previous chaos. Aegon III regency council was also divided between former black supporters (Manderly, Alyn Oakenfist) and Green supporters (Unwin Peak, Tyland Lannister). It was a catastrophic loss for House Targeryan lol

They didn't mention Viserys II here, the childnof Rhaenyra and Daemon. Viserys is the one that continues the Targaryen bloodline all the way to Daenerys Targaryen.

It wasnt the full story ive seen a longer version. Viserys II was the kid on the boat he survives and sails away then returns after the war ends. Some names would have helped here

Helaena's been dissociating basically the entire time since. Or she's tried to rationalize her emotions away by pointing out the smallfolk lose children all the time. Instead of "mad with grief" they went with (what I think is a more realistic) just not being completely there. I bet there were moments at the sept before the riot that she would suddenly come back to her senses and realize she has no idea how she got there. And when Rhaenyra comes to King's Landing I bet the first thing she'll say to Rhaenyra is "I'm sorry about Jace and Luke."

They take stuff that good men have spent decades creating & refining and trash it in favor of their own shallow 'vision' of what the world should look like. That's because the TV series greatly expanded the story to show how things led up to the Dance of the Dragons. In the books, the story begins where the second half of season 1 began. They tried to squeeze more money out of a successful Intellectual Property but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it added to the lore covered in the books. George himself says that Paddy's portrayal of King Viserys turned out greater than his brief portrayal in the books. Young Rhaenyra was also a great revelation and benefited the show. It's a short story so I don't see this going more than 3 or 4 seasons, even taking expansion into account.

This is the condensed version , It’s missing Cregan Starks role , he was the one that truly ended the war killed everyone who was left and installed Rhaenyra’s son on the throne, in the end Team black technically wins but it comes at a hugggggeeee cost. No one is left , a few Targaryens and couple dragons that’s it.. they rebuilt somewhat in the years to follow but never as they once were.
Not even the word pyrrhic is enough to describe that conclusion. No one won in the Dance of Dragons, everyone lost.
And as usual the Starks ended bailing the kingdom out. Kregan was the MVP in the end.

I decided to go a step further & read the relevant chapters in the _Fire and Blood_ book. I was going to abandon the show after Sunday's disastrous "finale", but ironically reading the book has re-invigorated my interest (and it only takes like 3 hours to read the whole story). I wanna see how they adapt to what's ahead, because it won't be easy. Just be warned if any of you are curious about the differences up to this point: SOME OF THE _CHAPTER TITLES_ IN THE BOOK CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS FOR S3 &S4.
Hearing all the og actors voices felt amazing until Jack Gleesons voice appears and it just elevated and felt surreal. Terribly underrated actor. That man deserves a comeback.
Pretty sure that I read that he decided to do more theatre acting, and less television high profile acting. Don't think he was keen on the fame. He made a speech at Oxford university about celebrity culture/society.
Poor guy had rando treating him like crap because of how good he played the character of Joffrey. People need to get a grip, if you hate the character, it means the actor is doing a good job. Don't blame him for wanting to take a break.

They need to make Rhaenyra arriving on dragonstone after fleeing king’s landing a true horror fest.Just imagine we see her hiding on the small ship dodging velaryon ships, arriving on dragonstone in rain, being led up to castle, then her slowly noticing things are wrong like the smell of decay and blood, the absence of men she had left in charge, a flash of lightning perhaps illuminating the suspiciously high half eaten body of the maester and others on the ramparts, then her guards slaughtered and her, her son, and her ladies in waiting marched in to the castle to see Aegon 2 sitting on the throne scarred, burned, and gleaming with vengeance.Then her demanding to know what happened to Baela and Aegon revealing Sunfyre, bloody and scarred lurching out of the shadows, and the lines from the book, then the slow dawning horror as she realises he doesn’t plan on keeping her as a hostage and why Sunfyre is here.Her son being torn from her screaming and crying, her panicking and begging for her sons life, Sunfyre burning her and then while still alive screaming as he feasts on her, which would be off screen but we see the flames and reflection shadow of the head chomping down and sounds of meat and bone crunched, while we see the horrified face of Aegon 3, ending with the shot of part of a leg falling down on the stone floor.

Aegon II pulling a fast one and winning the war would be funny if it happens in the show.
tbf, he kinda did end up winning it, but he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory so to say. If he had listened and pardoned all the black houses, then agree to the marriage of Aegon the younger to his daughter Jahaeyra, the dance would have ended with an extremely pyrrhic victory for the greens.

Ryan Condom and Sara Mess are a disgrace to this story. They're just the Dumb & Dumber come again. Their level of bias toward Rhaenyra is absolutely insufferable. They DESTROYED everything else and characters just to prop her up. Embarassing.

And anyone capable of simple thinking knows she's being written as "sympathetic" because they made her a RHAENYRA STAN, in case you're missing the fact she's not even committed to the green cause at all. We love BOOK ALICENT, the one who was ruthless, fierce, had an ambitious agenda, and protected her family. We didn't ask for "sweetened" characters. Plus, IT'S A FACT that the show is biased against the greens, and you know it well, no matter the denial. Look how Blood and Cheese was quickly swept under the rug and so on.

It’s a shame how bad the HBO show is compared to the book. The book is way better with a clear message in my opinion: how people in power use weapons of mass destruction to obtain power, killing thousands in the process. How people in power succumb to their passions making everybody around them suffer.
This story has been repeated time and time again. But today’s Hollywood is so politically and profit-driven that most shows are below average when it comes to writing. They think that people are only interested in sound production and VFX. The story will always be first if you want to have people watching.
After the second season, my interest in the show has waned, and I find myself not eagerly anticipating future seasons. The show's direction and storytelling have left me disappointed and disheartened.
The Battle of Rooks rest in the show is a complete pile of sh*t compared to the one in the books. Meleys with Rhaenys are showcased as heroic martyrs, Aegon a fool who dared to oppose the twice as large and fast Meleys than his own dragon, Sunfyre a complete weakling with no firepower (his blast hit Meleys and Rhaenys directly in their faces and not a scratch on any of them), and Aemond is... well a fckn traitor, who willingly burnt his own brother.
In the books, the two Targaryen brother attacks together, shoulder-to-shoulder, Aegon had a fckn strategic plan, and didn't just rush to face such a formidable enemy alone stupidly...
I hate the showrunners for what they did to the green faction. Instead of a choesive, supporting family they are always at each other's throat, trying to cause as many trouble for each other as possible.
Madnesss.... madness and stupidity.

In Westeros, the history books do not remember Rhaenyra as a queen but as a claimant or even a usurper. Stannis in the books says that his end was deserved. Therefore, they blame her for the death of the dragons, for wanting to ascend the throne instead of obeying Jahaerys' decree.
In Dorne they seem to uphold her legacy, specially her descendants there, and history is not really kind to Aegon as well, he is remembered as a dreadful king likewise...
So what happened to the remaining dragons after the war? The ones ridden by the bastards and dragon seeds? By the time of the events in GOT there were no dragons left. How and why?

Most of the dragons died in the actual war, whilst 2 of the dragonseeds dragon's died. Nettles and her dragon got away and Silverwing likely died of old age. In the end she and moon dancer where the last dragons but they eventually died. At that stage none of the eggs were hatching for some reason, and the only one that hatched bit of a chunk of one the Targeryns children's arm so it was killed, I think that one was the last dragon

Literally if viserys could’ve just got everyone in the same room together, put his foot down and married the greens and the blacks together this shit would’ve been avoided or if viserys listened to Otto in the beginning when he suggested marrying aegon and rhaeynra once aegon came of age, they honestly had a lot of options to avoid war but ig targeryns just love fighting each other.

Aegon got that dawg in him. What this video misses out is that - In order to take Dragonstone Aegon and a wounded Sunfyre had to fight Baela and her dragon. Aegon wins despite Sunfyre's injuries but shatters both legs in the process.
After he returns to Kings Landing when he kills Rhaenyra, Aegon stands on his broken legs to burn the Shepherd alive, thus avenging the dragons of House Targaryen.

Fun fact: Rhaena, daughter of Daemon, will marry Garmund Hightower after the war; the Velaryon and the Hightower become good friends, in fact the latter financially support the Velaryon house since they were ruined after the Dance.
Hopefully Garmund appears and has a relationship with Rhaena. It would be a very nice way to reconcile the greens and the blacks.

If I were to guess, I think they're switching the taking of KL with the Battle of the Gullet (where Jace dies). They mentioned something about a big action sequence that had been planned for S2 being pushed back to S3.
They've clearly changed a ton. Nettles isn't even a character anymore. Rhaenyra apparently wants to sleep with the White Worm. They've made obvious good/evil sides on the show instead of the significantly more nuanced approach of the books (can't have a female lead be cruel and incompetent because that's sexist or something I guess), the list really goes on.

For anyone deciding to watch this. The broad strokes are for the most part correct, but much of this was changed in Fire and Blood which came out years later after this was created iirc around Season 4 or Season 5 of GOT. This also leaves out quite a bit from the original source material it adapted in The Princess and The Queen.

Daemon is a true warrior as he’s not only a dragon rider watching his dragon fight other dragons but he too made use of his sword even on air riding his fighting dragon. Aemon didn’t expect that from his uncle. He was used to just sit on Vhaegar and watch her do the fighting upon his commands
Aemond was great at sword fighting as well. The reason why he probably didn't sword fight on the dragon is because it is more or less impossible, unless you are looking to commit suicide like Daemon did.

If were are talking about fighters in the books neither Daemon nor Aemond are considered great swordsman, just great dragon riders. Daemon for example, even with Darksister he lost to Criston Cole in a melee and was also defeated in a joust match, Aemond also don't have any duels in the whole war.
