- Many of us have leftover napkins from birthday parties, special dinners or get togethers, and such. This project will take those napkins and create a lasting Christmas ornament that will remind you your special day.
I am including a link for blank wood slices. It is not an affiliate link, just a suggestion. I've found that's hit or miss quality wise - no matter where you order. I have only found multipacks of them on Amazon.

The mushroom napkins are no longer available, unfortunately. here's a link for some really cute ones to substitute. I like them so much I put them on my wish list for when I use up some of my stash.

The hedgehog napkins are also discontinued but here's a substitute that I'm using:
IHR 3-Ply Cocktail Beverage Paper Napkins, 20-Count, 5 x 5-Inches, Sweet Hedgehog a.co/d/e2NVpPi
You will also need Mod Podge (or glue and water mixed together) a paintbrush and glitter if you'd like to use it.
Okay! Let's get started! If you'd rather skip the project and buy an ornament or just want to check out mine, here's a link to my shop on Etsy. Thanks for stopping by!

A piece of painters tape on the corner or a tiny mod podge on your fingers separates the napkins easily. Love your ornaments.
Great tip - thank you!! I found some leopard napkins in a thrift shop and am getting ready to make a batch. I'll bet that speeds me up a bunch! Christmas is going to be *wild* this year. 🐆🌲😁 I appreciate you stopping by & commenting! 🤗
I noticed your comment. I hope you don't mind if I try it.
@ritabrandow1318 not at all! I hope you do try it!
I like to separate a bunch of napkins and wipe the wood dust off of several wood slices, then make bunches at one time. You could give them as gifts to friends this year & have them finished before Halloween even arrives. ❤️
I love this! I have just received an order of these from Amazon and I'm very glad for this little class in how to do them! I am glad I don't need to paint them white first!!!
Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks so much for watching & commenting! I hope you have fun creating. I'm not sure if I mentioned it in the video, but I like napkins with a white background because some of the wood texture and/or rings show through. To me, it's nice to see the features of real wood.
A shop near me sells little heart shaped or classic wooden casket... I can't wait to try this! I have a really good friend to gift one of those to 💕 the hard part Is going to be finding some good napkins
Your friend will love that you created a gift, especially for them & that it is personalizes to their taste! Check etsy for individual napkins. Also, Amazon and Ebay have a bunch of options. Good luck! If you post on Instagram, add a link in the comments so I can see your masterpiece!
Thank you for watching & commenting ❤️

Bello proyecto, para despegar las partes blancas las servilletas, pon un poquito te goma en tus dedos
Thank you! That's a great idea!
FYI, it’s not a flat brush! It’s called a fan brush!
Thank you! I went back and forth on that one. I appreciate the correction.
Love these! Just sucscribed!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy making them 🥰
Thank you I subscribed and liked
Thank you very much! I hope you get a chance to make some ornaments!
@outtaredzhead4441 I will try making some Thanksgiving Ones 😋 🙂
@ritabrandow1318 that's a great idea!!
Hello. If you want easy remove the napkin from the border try it with a small file. Have fun on your chanel.
Hi there! Thank you! I appreciate you stopping by & sharing that tip 🤗
I love those mushrooms. I haven't been able to find them 😕
Thank you! Yes. I think the napkins have been discontinued. I'm sorry!
I don't know anything about this shop - no affiliation - but I just love this listing. I did some mega thrifting the other day.. As a result this listing is not in my budget right now. You might like it though, since you appreciate mushrooms ❤️

So glad I came across your video today. It’s absolutely awesome. If you wanted to try using Modge Podging an old Christmas card in to the round, do you think that would work.
Subscribed to your channel. Thank you in advance
Thank you so much!! I appreciate you being here 🥰 A card should work fine. I would cut it down to an approximate size so you can see that you're adhered everywhere, but it should be pretty much the same. Let me know how it goes!!
@@outtaredzhead4441 thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I guess I’ll have to learn the learning curve of modge podge, but super excited.
I’m curious how you would do this on the wood using photos??
That would be awesome but obviously photo paper is a lot thicker than a napkin paper. Please let me know thank you.
Hi there! I had a customer ask me to make a photo ornament for them recently. I tried a photo transfer - but I have an ink jet printer and I couldn't get a good transfer. This is when you print your image in reverse and decoupage it with the image face first on the ornament, then rub off the backing with a wet finger or damp cloth - leaving the image behind. It works best with a laser jet printer.
Water slide transfer method might work, if you sand really well first. The sheets are available on Amazon and usually have the instructions.
You could print your image on to paper and cut or punch the image out then decoupage. I have gotten pretty good results with that - except that you have a rim around the image where it doesn't meet the edges of the wood.
My final thought would be to print on onion skin paper - which is much thinner and more pliable than standard paper. Then decoupage.
Hope that helps! 😀
Sand them
Can you be more specific as to what Ebay seller you purchased hedgehog napkins from? We would like to create what your tutorial shows.
Hi! I do not have a specific seller. I like to use napkins that have a special memory attached - maybe one from a birthday party, or tea with someone special. If I am making stock for my shop I search for a specific theme on Etsy, Ebay, Amazon, Google, or even in person, in stores like Marshall's, Tuesday Morning, and Home Goods. I like to find vintage napkins when possible.
The hedgehog napkins were purchased year or two ago. I wish I had a record of their manufacturer but I don't. This year I've been keeping a list so I'll have a reference going forward.
Where do you get your lovely napkins?😊
I watch for them everywhere. Ebay has a wide variety available. Often you can find vintage patterns too. There is a seller on Ebay. I'm not sure the name but they sell napkins in small groups, (between 2 to 4.) That would be a nice way to create a small collection of different ornaments!
Since your tutorial shows these specific mushrooms...and you replied to someone that you " think" they are discontinued. Can you share the Supplier regardless? Thanks
Thank you for your question about the origin of the mushroom napkins in my video. My intention when answering the original question wasn't to be vague, but to give an honest answer. I said I "think" they were discontinued because I have been searching the web for more and have been unable to find them. I'm not able to say with 100% certainty that the company no longer makes them, (especially since I don't have the packaging to know who to contact directly,) but I can say with certainty that I can no longer find them. I am using the search terms "mushroom paper napkins" and "fungi paper napkins".
Last year those ornaments reached best seller status on Etsy. They were popular this year too but I have limited stock. I would love to be able to replenish my own supply.
In my searches I also combed through my purchase histories on Etsy, Ebay and Amazon. I can't find the purchase. I believe that can happen when a supplier goes out of business, or replaces the item in their listing with a different product. Unfortunately I don't have an idea who that might be. I wish I could be more helpful.
Could you use ordinary PVA glue I wonder
Yes! An equivalent to Mod Podge is to mix about 2 parts pva to 1 part water (I go slightly heavier on the pva.) 😀 Thanks so much for stopping by & commenting!
