Christian Bale said this would have worked better as a miniseries. He's right. And for everyone commenting on the Biblical account, we shouldn't be too surprised that Hollywood deviated from it.
The Bible was the Hollywood of its time, it was neither very close to reality. Funny how people use it as an historical reference.

He definitely tear that hurdle apart so that we can go through it without hurting ourselves. Amen. Just believe it and watch the show.
AMEN!!!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This scene captures the crossing of the Red Sea the best. Most, if not all depictions in the Bible always have Moses slam his staff into the sea and part a path through the water. Respectfully though, that's not realistic. That's just simply not a feasible feat.
The historical tales of the exodus more accurately say that the Hebrews crossed the red sea during a low tide AND while there was a strong easterly wind that literally blew the red sea aside. Such a thing has never happened again since the exodus.
It just seems TOO coincidental that the Hebrews got their chance to cross while the Red Sea was in low tide while also having a strong wind blow the current aside. It's not as spectacular as literally parting the waves, but you could still definitely say it was some kind of act of God
@@phantomwraith1984 So you are saying that stories about the Bible are more accurate than the actual Bible, where they are based from.....

It's so anticlimactic that the ocean just receded to the side and not parted into two gigantic walls of water like how the Bible told it. Ten Commandments (1956) and the The Prince of Egypt depicted it right, and they're more artistic and dramatic than this
and very unlikely
I don't think that was the translation
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. All that night Yahweh pushed back the sea with a strong east wind and turned the sea into dry ground. The water divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the middle of the sea on dry ground. The water stood like a wall on their right and on their left. (Exodus 14 Names of God Bible)

@@shawnlikethelight9637 3:13 i was jus about to ask “shouldn’t this be where the water parts”?
As much as Hollywood potrays, it was all about the tide.
When the Israelites crossed it was low tide ,but by the time the Egyptian army was crossing it was high tide and they got swept away
All I will say is that if you want to spend the considerable time, effort, and expense of adapting a well-known story, be it biblical or not, (looking at you Troy), why can’t you stick to the book?
Exactly
Couldn't agree with you more, Ian.
Because, hollywood...

Because It Is THE BOOK, any deviation is a chance for the adversary to throw doubt about Its truth. Any deviation, no matter how slight, is sufficient to keep at least one more from sharing God's glory through Jesus Christ.
Ridley takes a more realistic way to represent the sea opening, actually, instead of the sea parting, it begins to lower, instead of the staff, it uses the sword
"You nay now enter our sea amusement park where waters are divided. Please hurry for it's for a limited time. Chariots are forbidden and these who attempt will have a cold bath. Thank you for choosing us for your salvation"

At God's command, Moses held his staff out over the water, and throughout the night a strong east wind divided the sea, and the Israelites walked through on dry land with a wall of water on either side. The Egyptians pursued them, but at daybreak God clogged their chariot-wheels and threw them into a panic, and with the return of the water, the pharaoh and his entire army are destroyed.[4] When the Israelites saw the power of God, they put their faith in God and in Moses, and sang a song of praise to the Lord for the crossing of the sea and the destruction of their enemies.

I really don’t remember this movie. So, it was Moses without miracles? God did not part the Red Sea they just walked across?
Basically it does have miracles but God acts by manipulating the science of the world, like in the book the river turned red but didn't tell how, in the movie God manipulated the crocodiles into mass eating all the fishing leading to massive amount of blood mixing with the river, and how God splits the sea in 2 using the low tide caused by the meteor. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
Exodus 14:21-22 ESV
They know. This was question of money. Modern human won't believe on miracles. So filmmakers need to get closest as possible to the reality.
I like that Excalibur reference there when Moses pulled that sword out of the water...
Some say that the Excalibur reference is based on a Midrashic source where Moses pulled the staff given to Adam by God out of the ground. The staff was said to have certain powers, and Adam stuck it into the ground to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Nobody was able to extract it until Moses, who was seen by his then future father-in-law (Jethro) "strolling around" with it.
This was also the staff that Moses waved over the sea, so it's like a reference to a reference, if you dig that.
_"And you raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and split it, and the children of Israel shall come in the midst of the sea on dry land." (Exodus 14:16)_

why is the music here so over the top they just walking in water with no one around them
I think it was more like how they showed it in Exodus: Gods and Kings. No wall of water
The people were of little faith. They would not have crossed until they have seen driy land. This shows the opposite of what would of happened.
Only until the death and Resurrection of Yeshua did people begin to have faith without seeing. I never seen our Lord and Savior but I believe.
You also haven't seen Krishna or Quetzalcoatl, yet you don't believe in them. _Not_ seeing is not the means by which you establish faith, but to the contrary; seeing. True, you may accuse people who have not seen of weak faith, but humanity is guilty of so many false claims that the only way to bridge the gap between belief and knowledge is national witness, which is probably why the Torah says _"And Israel saw the great hand, which the Lord had used upon the Egyptians, and the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in Moses, His servant."_ (Exodus 14:31)
It is true that the Jews experienced this faith relatively late, i.e., only after the whole ordeal of the ten plagues (said to have taken about one year), but it can be said that up until this very moment it was not clear that God's promise to Abraham (Genesis 15:16) had really come to fruition. Unarguably (we) the Jews are a stiff-necked people, but when a stiff-necked person becomes convinced, he never turns away. This is what God wants of the Jewish People, His treasured nation; He gave them what He didn't give to any other nation, which is a national revelation, so that the basis for their belief would be unshakable (notwithstanding the imperfect record of the nation as a whole).
What really gets under Christians' skin is that God did not duplicate any form of national revelation in any of His "subsequent revelation updates." A national revelation can only be replaced by another at least as convincing; instead there are four books that differ on relevant details and a series of scattered reports of eye witnesses penned by third parties between 20 and 70 years after the apparent resurrection. Could you imagine if the Exodus account had been recorded this way? Four accounts of the Exodus differing in significant details penned between 20 and 70 years later by authors that did not experience it themselves.

I didn't fully follow what you said about spirit and soul. I rather wait to hear what you meant before responding to my misunderstanding.
I see Poseidon did his old lets trick em with the sword sticking out the and parting the water thing again, that old joker!
Better than the "whats that there in that pool of water yonder" and then you get the poker up the backside. Greek classic.
Thats why your mockery to God makes you become a laughingstock to him till the rest of your life to die & rot in a graveyard alone...The One & only living God isn't Poseidon it's a spirit you hypocritically abandoned who lives with you everyday smh
@@galleryteneuesartnouveau9353 lol. Did you hear about second degree?
@@xavierbouchez9227 second degree of whooot? I can't believe ordinary kind of humans had the audacities of mocking God that way easily & forgotten the breathe of life doesn't belong to them..Aethiests are pathetic to say not to believe in the existence of a creator & tells you to believe in Nothing...Aethiesm is just another religion who believed in theory of emptiness & void which is living the other side without Light but darkness just like Lucifer's rebellion & defiance & lived as an outcast vagabond of uncleanliness & cursed
Ahhh great a movie of prophet Moses
The Lady of the Lake takes holidays in the Red Sea?
You can't expect to wield 'supreme executive power' just because some watery tart threw a sword at you
Moses looks young for a 90 years old .!
I guess Ridley Scott didn't read the part about "dry ground", lol
It became dry when when all the water receded. They started crossing as the water was moving but when they were half way and when the Pharoah's army entered, the land was dry enough for chariots
Whether you all believe or not but God can do. And so I believe He really did that 5000 years ago. That's all.
Jesse, we have to cross the red sea
The ancient Dark Knight
Musa ❤
Gawd this would have been so much easier had the Ever Given just run around back then :D
Well it the directors fault haha . That time they dont believe in science and calculate all the possible route that they will through😂🤣
yeah right
The waters here never parted, instead it swept back from left to right🤔 then when the Egyptians came, the waters rushed back🤔♥️ I love this new movie of Moses: 3:26
ว้าว เยี่ยม สุดๆ
That old guy with the white beard, is that uncle Leo?
Moses- Moshe in Hebrew- a tough guy as is his name- M-mighty - Sh- Devour - He- What comes from- What comes from Devouring Water!
Moshe- Yahweh's 'right-hand man' & faithful in All of His House, writer of Genesis to Deut.- , emancipator, warrior, statesman- more than priest or king- The Shepherd of Yahweh!
Cellphone should get you pure water. Wherever.
They made it look like Moses was supersurprised by a natural event and he conned 3 million people into walking into a 5000ft chasm and hope the water doesn't flood back, while driving people waste deep through retreating waters. That particular film maker should stick to yoghurt commercials and leave the filmmaking to proper professionals. That was awful.
Even Christian’s and Jews can agree this is bollocks well done Hollywood
We love a movie without any visual impact.
Even you killed all kids, One Moses will survive
A prophet cant hold a sword but in this movie moses use sword
