My favorite part of this story is that David actually begins to run at Goliath in the verse before he releases the stone. David knew that God was protecting him and would deliver him to victory. David did not just wait to see if the stone would fell the giant either, he closed the gap, brought the giant to the ground, relinquished the massive sword from Goliath, and took the giant's head. Confidence in God's plan allows us to run at our troubles like David did.

When I read this part I remember Goliath not being challenged straight away, but waiting a few days, and David picking up pebbles the morning before the fight. Also, after he shot him in the head, David proceeded to behead Goliath for all the soldiers to see with a sword.

What's great about the story of David and Golaith is what happens before this. David had been protecting his father's sheep for years and in the course of doing that duty he had fought with lions and bears. My favorite part of this story is that David actually begins to run at Goliath in the verse before he releases the stone. David knew that God was protecting him and would deliver him to victory. David did not just wait to see if the stone would fell the giant either, he closed the gap, brought the giant to the ground, relinquished the massive sword from Goliath, and took the giant's head. Confidence in God's plan allows us to run at our troubles like David did.

David had been protecting his father's sheep for years and in the course of doing that duty he had fought with lions and bears. God had been training him all along, preparing him for the day when he'd face a giant man. But by that stage facing a man, even a very large one was nothing compared to fighting a lion or bear.
