Omg Cube Escape/ Rusty Lake is the best scary spooky weird escape game series, totally recommend Hotel and Birthday. :)
Hotel is my fave, I second that recommendation!
And Roots. Roots is good. Oh and someone's origin story in Paradise of course :)

@poopy Samsara Room is a separate game in the same universe! The games reuse items (the clock, corrupted soul- the black figure- appears in SR along with other things) so it can be hard to tell them apart sometimes.
Do a full series. Recommend playing in chronological order.
I second this! I played out of order at first and it was a bit confusing since the stories all connect :D

I can understand your frustration, but if the game is loke a series like a book; Wouldn't you read the books in chronologically order, from the beginning?
(In this case, it would be playing and not reading...)
This will take a LOT of time, it's really worth it but that would be 30 videos in that rustly lake playlist, maybe more

Yes and no. If you played the games when they came out initially (starting back in April 2015), then it would've been impossible to have played them in chronological order since there was no timeline yet.

I'm always excited when a new UA-camr finds the Rusty Lake series. These games are criminally underrated.
There is an order to the series and it's easier to follow the storyline if you do it that way. I didn't play it that way and it took me a while to piece it together. I hope you enjoy the game as much as we did.

I really hope she explores these games because there is a little fandom with this that talk about the purpose behind Rusty Lake and the Black Cubes and how each character is connected. This one does a great job introducing Harvey, the bird, and our female character, I think her name is Laura.

Yep, Laura Vanderboom. It's not entirely clear how exactly Seasons and the other early Flash titles (pre Case 23) fit into the chronology/story progression of the other games, especially Seasons because it literally has time travel as a mechanic. But they certainly get plenty of references later on.
Oh, and have you played the original Samsara Room? It predates Seasons (in fact it predates the studio name "Rusty Lake"), and even though it's not canon, it inspired a number of aspects of the series in general. It's kind of interesting to see.
@@Nat_the_Chicken Yes I have played Samsara Room. I was able to play it on Kongregate when Flash was still functioning. The art style reminded me of The Cube games. I do not think it is canon, I think it is its own entity but similar themes. This little gaming series has blown up and there are indeed so many references in other Cube games to other Cube games, there is the movie.
@@gregputnam7243 Oh yeah, no, it's definitely not canon to Rusty Lake. It's just interesting to see that that's actually where things like the clock started, especially the concept of the clock having multiple times to set it to, which was reused here in Seasons. Also, the duality of cube-shaped rooms and cubes as items, which in Samsara was originally used as like a "gotcha" because you didn't realize that thing you were looking at in the void was actually the same as the room you were in. The dead body in the clock, which later showed up in Roots as William's corpse. One which I find particularly interesting is that the corrupted souls, which were designed to look very creepy in most of the Rusty Lake games (starting with Seasons), actually started with the player character of Samsara Room being a greyish outline: "I look a bit vague today." It was sort of before they shifted to a horror-like approach and were just going for pure transcendent surrealism. It was really cool to see that come full circle with the remake, since by that time everyone was more used to corrupted souls and they weren't quite so scary anymore.
I can remember playing these and getting really scared 😂 Did you know that the makers of the rusty lake games are dutch? Their HQ is in Amsterdam!

@@halfeye hey friend. My only point was that I hadn't seen a lot of people play this game and get a lot of attention. Obviously, a lot of people have, but it just made me really happy to see someone I like play these games
HEy, if you're intrested in other people playing through it Short one gaming is also doing a playthrough atm! (if you're intrested in watching multiple playthroughs ofc!). I was very suprised to see two channels i love doing it at roughly the same time.

Thankfully it's getting the popularity it deserves as time goes on. I used to be so into the escape style flash games that existed before Flash was shut down. I found this series way back at it's start, and for the longest time, I still thought it was a small community because when I started playing, it WAS a small community. When the Paradox video came out and got hundreds of thousands of views in barely any time, I realized just how popular this series had gotten. It's so great to see, I love having so many people to fawn over these games with!
I love watching the Rusty Lake games because I have beat them all so I know where the items go or what they are used for and I love you can see the light bulb on the UA-camrs' face when they realize how something is used and it creates a train of events.
I can't believe you haven't played this series sooner, it's great! Highly recommend!

The rusty lake games are so good they are by far my favorite horror puzzle games! If you ever plan on playing more of them, play them in chronological order because the story will make a hell of a lot more sense!

You mean real life escape rooms? Designing escape the room games and real escape rooms seem like significantly different skills to me, because of all the physical impossibilities you can make happen in a video game with basically no budget. (The Cube Escape games were originally free web games on their site, so I doubt they had much of a budget.)

i absolutely love this series, love the creepiness and weirdness lol, recommend playing them all if you want and if you have free time 🥰the lore will make sense as u play their games in chronological order. some tasks are hard to notice or know immediately, that's why this can be good playing on stream with chat 💓

The thing about the Cube series is that if you think it's weird and it won't do anything, then you definitely need to try it. It probably does something.

This is a great series. I recommend playing them in order because the story builds progressively on itself, meaning the more you play, the more sense they start to make. The puzzles also have a sort of progression, in that the more you play, the better you get at understanding what you need to do to solve them.
For anyone interested, the order of the games according to release date is Cube Escape: Seasons, Cube Escape: The Lake, Cube Escape: Arles, Cube Escape: Harvey’s Box, Cube Escape: Case 23, Cube Escape: The Mill, Rusty Lake Hotel, Cube Escape: Birthday, Cube Escape: Theatre, Rusty Lake: Roots, Cube Escape: The Cave, Rusty Lake: Paradise, and Cube Escape: Paradox. (The White Door and Samsara Room came later.)
IMO Arles and Harvey’s Box are skippable because they don’t contribute much to the lore and Rusty Lake Hotel is more of a playful standalone, but all are worth playing if you enjoy the series.
Omg I hope you go on to do the whole series, it's creepy point and click and right up your alley! It gets more story based in the later games!

I clicked on this right away when I seen the game! I'm not a huge gamer myself but, as a classic middle child, I love watching other people play. HOWEVER, I loved playing the rusty lake series! Theres something about watching Gabs play a game you love and waiting for her to react to certain parts, the excitement made me fall in love with her videos all over again.
For anyone wondering, the music that starts at 6:37 is Gymnopedie no. 3 by Erik Satie. Also, I really enjoyed this playthrough!

Please continue to play these games, especially in order! I played all the games with my friend about a year ago and they were amazing!! Such a weird and dark series, but they're soooooo addictive and fun as you try to piece together what the story is. I was actually going to recommend that you play these games, but then you put out this video, and that made my whole day! Thank you so much for trying this game out and I really hope that you keep playing and enjoying them!! They're definitely weird and confusing, but as you keep playing the games, more things start to make sense and you discover more about the woman and everything!!

Oh dude! :D The Rusty Lake series is awesome. I'm not going to be that guy in the comments that's like _"u shud plai all da koob eskap gamz plz",_ but if you're into this one then I'd highly recommend the others. They all work pretty good as standalone surreal experiences, playing them all will reveal an extended narrative that underpins the whole series. I love the warped dream logic a lot of the puzzles require, and the atmosphere/setting is unlike anything else I've seen. Thank you for playing this one at the very least, Gab! :3
P.S. If you only ever play another one of these, I'd wholly recommend _Cube Escape: Harvey's Box._ I think it would be up your alley! :p

Cube escape/Rusty lake series are kinda creepy but the puzzles are mind-blowing and sometimes they're hidden.
