This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE game series!!! AHHHHH I'm so excited, please do ALL of them (if you can of course!)!! Plus the longer games too (Rusty Lake Roots, Rusty Lake Paradise, Rusty Lake Hotel), there is SO much lore/content it is really an amazing series.
Seasons is a bit of a tough game to start with, The Lake would've been a much better one to begin with! It's the first game I played of the series and I've been HOOKED ever since. I hope you enjoy! ❤
So for the TV code you got in this game, if you go back to Cube Escape Seasons and put in that code on the TV there, you'll get an achievement/secret
YES!!
I love this series too!
I hope she gets the lore...
Can't lie, I like how they kind of intertwine the different areas into each other. That's pretty neat.
I agree! I hope she plays all of them including Cube escape paradox, Samsara room and Underground blossom
Huh I just noticed that the objects in the early puzzle are all references to ear anatomy in Dutch: hamer (hammer), aambeeld (anvil), stijgbeugel (stirrup), slakkenhuis (cochlea, the Dutch translates to "snail shell") and trommelvlies (ear drum). Very cool!
That's really fun to learn XD I believe the Rusty Lake creators are Dutch or are at least based in the Netherlands, so that makes sense.
So interesting! Maybe next time Gab can teach us some Dutch along the way?
They are called the same in English, but Google informs me they use the original latin and greek words more often? I know ear anatomy as the more easily remembered hammers and anvils in Finnish too😄
There is a couples game in this series too, called "The Past Within." You and Sean should co-op and play this game together.
Exactly my thoughts when I saw this one! I'd love to watch them describing the boxes to each other.
OOOOH Pleasepleasepleaseplease!🙏🙏
Yes! I watched Secret Sleepover Society play that and it was so fun.
@@xx011I thought I recognized the art style of this game!
"Such a big franchise"
"Oh there's a lil Guy here!"
That's was adorable and well timed lmao
I am sooo glad that someone is taking there time to play this, I found the series a few years back, fell in love and found no bigger representation online.
To me it is one of the best cryptic horror experiences ever, and I am so glad other people watching you feel the same :D
Jesse Cox has played a number of the games, too! :D
17:31 “What do you want, Paul?” oh god, the apotheosis is upon us
THE RABBIT HOLE GOES DEEPER THOUGH!! Jeff Blim played Paul Gauguin in the original concept recording of Starry (a musical about Vincent and Theo Van Gogh), and that’s who was at the door!
@@starbird6 truly so iconic of rusty lake to make starkid references years before the referenced material was even released
6:20 it was an equation, there was an X after the 6. So it's 6x237=1422
Beat me to it 😊
Same here becase i caught the video 2 hours late 😅
She read aloud somebody's explanation in the chat later in the video, silly billy.
@@reddemon785 but people comment before continuing the video, and then just leave their comment, even if the question is already answered 🤪
Woo, one of my favorite series!
In case you haven't seen already, the order of the games is a little jumbled with regard to the Cube Escape Collection, since those games were originally released separately . The games are in this order:
1 - Seasons
2 - The Lake
3 - Arles
4 - Harvey's Box
5 - Case 23
6 - The Mill
7 - Rusty Lake: Hotel
8 - Birthday
9 - Theater
10 - Rusty Lake: Roots
11 - The Cave
12 - Rusty Lake: Paradise
13 - Paradox: Chapters 1 & 2
14 - The White Door
15 - Samsara Room
16 - The Past Within
17 - Underground Blossom
Excited to see more, have fun!
This game gives me such nostalgia! There was a website in elementary school that had a lot of escape games in this same format! Obviously not horror themed lol but it takes me back!
ahh yes my fav was nickaddictinggames!! i spent hours playing escape-the-room games on there haha. so nostalgic
I'm happy you're giving them another try! The Rusty Lake games have a lot of lore and most games are connected somehow. There will be codes you get from one game that you can use in another, but as far as I know, you don't really need them to complete the game! They are mostly for secrets ^^ Love your cozy vibe though because I find these a bit spooky xD
I AM SO HAPPY YOUR PLAYING THIS !! It would be amazing If you went through the whole game series ! They’re awesome and got some really cool puzzles and lore !!
Edit : you can even play the co-op one with Sean !
I love that gab thinks these are fillers but I enjoy them so much.
watching your videos help me a lot, they’re so calming, they help me sleep during nights where i can’t. thank you gabs ❤ i hope you’re doing well
The Rusty Lake series is one of my favorites ever. So much incredible story packed into flash type games. You just wait til you get further in, it gets absolutely wild. I'm so glad to see Gab playing this, it's like two of my worlds colliding.
Good to see people on youtube actually playing rusty lake games
The weirdness is my favorite thing about Rusty Lake! Yes please, take us on a creepy journey into the surreal.
I never realized just how big this series had gotten. I found them on a whim way back in the day when they were just making little online flash games, and I guess I've just assumed they were still a little company doing little things. But they have gotten SO big. They did a full-on ARG before they released The White Door, and r/rustylake now has almost 20k members. When did they get so massive?
I’m so excited you’re playing these! They’re such oddly wonderful games. I will say if you make it through all of the old flash games in this set and would like to play more I think the free standing games like Roots, Hotel, and Underground Blossom are much better games and more cohesive. I view this collection as “lore homework” you have to play these to understand how the future games work and what’s going on.
edit: these codes and such overlap with the other games in the collections. Most are extra achievements or secrets. I don't think you need to know any of them to complete the main game.
27:23 Van Gogh: shoots dark figure in mirror. Game ends.
Gab: I did it!
Um... you know how Van Gogh died, right?
Thats such a good game. Going to recommend that to my 10yr old son who loves puzzle games. Looking forward to more.
I think the items inside the ear that you had to weigh are parts of the inner ear; hammer, stirrup, (ear)drum, anvil, shell is the cochlea shape etc.
Omg yes!! She's finally continuing with one of my favorite game series!
i've played every rusty lake game in existence and i am SO happy to see you getting into these. definitely one of my favorite devs!
I haven't watched the video yet but literally screamed when I saw the thumbnail! I love all things Rusty Lake!!!! So excited to see Gab play~
so happy to see you revisiting this game after a few years!! after watching gtlive play i knew i wanted to watch some more of my favorite youtubers play it too :D
if you finish the cube escape series, most if not all the rusty lake series games can be bought in a steam bundle for $8 I think. at least that's how it was in 2021 when I bought and played em all. and I thought it was criminally underpriced for how many hours of gameplay you get. idc that it looks like crap flash animation rusty lake is still one of my favorite series ever. just so intriguing and bongos weird.. and the cubes.. THE CUBES AND THE FISH CAMEO AAAAAAAAAAA *fangirling intensifies*
oh also the games can be played in any order (only cos the story tends to be confusing no matter what order you play in) but I'd recommend going by release date
Super happy about this!!! Two notes tho!
1. The Green Gem is used for a “Good ending” in Lake, you have to swap it with the Blue Gem while the lost soul gets out to attack you.
2. The TV code you got on the box is for Seasons. You put the code in the TV section during Autumn and get an easter egg.
I don’t blame you for getting confused on the gems, btw. I think the IOS version adds “Change your fate” to the Seasons passcode.
Oh my god no way my favorite games ever. I didn't even realise you started playing it. This entire series needs more hype, I've been playing it since I was a kid
Damn, Cube series! I love these games!
you mean rusty lake?
It's Peak , I played most of it
@@haffey2do you want context ?
@@haffey2 there's a third comment I can't see so I'm not sure if you're asking me or not xD
@@DajJednego I'm asking you lol, I don't need any context, I've played all of the Rusty Lake games, and I fucking love them. I haven't played the newest one though, since none of my friends care about the franchise.
Gab, I am SO HAPPY to see that you're revisiting this franchise. The Rusty Lake series is among one of my favorite game series ever and I was so sad when I went through your past videos and noticed that you'd only done Seasons! I was so excited when I saw this pop up on my feed I had to write a comment immediately, so I haven't watched the video yet (I'm just about to start) and I don't know whether you end up mentioning whether or not you'll play more of the games in the series, but I really hope you do. All of them are truly incredible and worth playing ❤
YAY!!! I am so happy she’s continuing this!!! One of my faves!
So excited to watch Gabs play my fav puzzle game series. Really hope she gets into the lore of it all
hm i rly wish gab did the whole series in one sitting, or at least straight in a row, cuz idk anything about it but i read the comments from cube seasons (which i watched right before this vid cuz she played it first) and it seems like its gonna be a rly cool af plot, kinda like the fragmented narrative of dark souls games, and also i think some things from seasons might be used here, like with the green box that says remember the seasons, it has 4 digits, and there was also a 4 digit green box in seasons that used the code 1487 which maybe could be used here? i could be wrong, but wouldve been nice to see gab’s face light up if she remembers stuff that can be used in this one TwT
i love this series! it broke my brain when i played it years ago 😅 please, play all of them, it'll be awesome!
My favorite games of all time! As you progress, you'll learn a story, especially once you get into the larger, paid games. You'll meet recurring characters and see themes over and over. It is always weird, though, and sometimes a bit gross/cartoon gory. But so much fun!
I love johns series of this! Will definitely watch all of yours if you decide to do them 😁
Oooh the memories!! I’ve played those years ago and had soooo much fun, really makes me wanna play them again!
Great video as always Gab, thank you for all your hard work to keep us entertained 💛
24:34 as an artist, this is in fact what all of our ears look like
ayyyy glad to see you give this series another try, it is one of my favorites
I think I can watch like 10 hours of this… excited for more, Gab! Thanks ;)
GABS I SCREAMED!!!! You have no idea how much I want to see you play thru this series!!! Ever since you played Seasons I've been waiting. I think you're gonna really enjoy the longer games like Hotel and Roots. Wonderful play through!!
I'm so glad you came back to this! I love the Rusty Lake puzzles
Gab: "I've got a knife!"
My brain: NO!!
this remains one of my favourite game series of ALL TIME. i think i would actually weep and laugh-cry to see you play Rusty Lake: Roots ... so I hope some day you do! You are AMAZING at puzzles, you can do it! 💪🏻
Rusty Lake and The Room are two of my favorite game series. You should absolutely play through more of these to get to Rusty Lake: Roots and Rusty Lake Hotel. The Rusty Lake games are wild and unexpected, but the storytelling unravels incredibly well and it makes you want to replay each of these games over and over with a new lens (and to grab all the secret achievements).
Seeing this made me rewatch your Seasons playthrough! I would love to eventually see you and Sean co-op The Past Within, a later Rusty Lake installment, since I haven't gotten the chance to play through it myself.
I always found Arles or Harvey's Box the hardest Rusty Lake game. Mainly for Harvey's Box, it is the bug jumping puzzle
Part of the collection, Case 23 and The Mill are my favorite.
Outside of Collection, Hotel and Roots but Roots is long
Gab playing Rusty Lake? A prayer I didn't even make has been answered. 😃
Omg I immediately love the art style of this, it looks ALOT like escape room flash games from 2001-2010 ❤
Release order isn't necessarily bad, there are several ways to play through the games, release date, story order, chronological events of the story is also an option. There is a recommended play order from the devs which I'm pretty sure is release order, or very close to it.
All the Rusty Lake and Cube Escape games tie into each other, it's one big story.
Some games have alternative endings or more story if you play the extra parts. The lake has two options, depending on which gem you choose. The one from the mirror box ends with the shadow figure getting to you, the other gem sort of defeats it.
This is really good! It has such a mysterious vibe over it, yet being simply designed!
definitely a fav mild horror escape series! please play through it all!
I had a classmate in my ceramics class do a 3d reproduction of that Van Gogh painting.
The "friend Paul" might be Paul Gauguin
Ooooh what a classic Game series!
I really recommend this games + the Submachine Games.
Loved them back on Newgrounds!
OMG!! I remember playing all Cube escape games way back. I absolutely loved them!! I’m so excited to see you play them now :D
These games and story is one of my faves ❤ I’m so glad you came back to them. I hope you enjoy it Gab!
omg this is so nostalgic, me and my friends used to play these in middle school in like 2016
I don't know the first thing about the Rusty Lake deep lore, but this is a fun and challenging series and I'm happy to watch you play!
Omg I love love love these games so much!! Thank you for playing this!!
OMG yessss rusty lake games, you should play all of them because the whole story really got me goosebumps 😵
ah yes, i’ve been waiting for this!!! such an excellent birthday gift for a snow day :)))
Cube Escape in incredibly abstract and surreal. They're very interesting though
Can't believe you're playing The Cube Escape Collection!! I love the games! They are kinda difficult to figure out at first, but really fun in the end! I hope you can play the other games too, like Rusty Lake Roots, Rusty Lake Paradise and Rusty Lake Hotel! Even tho they are called "Rusty Lake", they are from the same universe, adding a little bit more of lore, and making things more interesting!
Yay! I am so glad you have the whole collection. This is amazing, I love Rusty Lake games
This was soooo cool. Thanks for recording another one!
please play the series!! I've never seen this before and i'm so intrigued and love the style somuch and adore watching you play puzzles!!!
Yeah!!!!! Waiting for Gab's rustylake series playthrough since I was born
I'm excited for you to play the other games as well. I love Rusty Lake games and have played the series more than once, it's easy to come back to after a while
so happy youre playing this again!!
i saw matpat playing this game months back but he stopped uploading videos of it so i didnt see much of the series, and now hes leaving he probably never will finish it now.
i cant wait to see if you upload more!!
I LOVE THESE GAMES! I literally have a rusty lake tattoo! Excited to watch thissss
Gab + cube escape + the lake = cozy vibes😌
I am SO excited that you're getting into Rusty Lake!! It's my favorite game series, hands down
Trust me Gabs. Cube Escape Series are worth playing.
Yeessss! I'm so excited for this. I absolutely love these games. So beautifully done.
so happy you revisited this series! everyone else have said what is needed to say, I'm just excited for you to play the premium games (esp roots!) and white door so you can get to hear a familiar voice 🤭
Such a chill vibe..so relaxing aside from some elements of the game. I just clicked your video without thinking and realized I needed this.
edit: Also the little USB inserted sound was so cute😂
Gab I think I’m obsessed with your videos. I can’t wait for this series of RL to be solved by you. You generally see things and don’t dick around like other steamers, all business, cut that ear right off.
rusty lake!!!! so happy youre playing again! excited to see more :D
These are so cosy to watch!
I was like oh yea thats what your supposed to do with absinthe lol. I have fond memories every time I hear about absinthe of good times with my best bud
Looking forward to the next video in this series. This was super relaxing to watch. Gab and a good brain teaser game - good times!
I just watched part 1 a couple days ago, you have impeccable timing!
If you play them in chronological order the game story and plot makes so much more sense than playing them in the order they came out, but i love your commentary
I LOVE THIS GAME SERIES YES! Id love to see you play more rusty lake games!
OMG YESSSS I love rusty lake games it's so great to get to see you play these
AHH im so happy you continued this series
OMG i missed this so much! i enjoyed this a lot the first time through. the game feels so Gab coded!!
love you Gab! you always cheer me up when i have a bad day :)
I love the cube escape games, found them on my phone ages ago and really enjoyed them, got them for my bf too, after we played the multiplayee one together and he liked it ❤
YESSSSS I love this series I am so excited to see this!!
YES OMG!!!! I was waiting for you to find these gems! These games are so amazing and the story it tells is super awesome
Omg i love the rusty lake games, ALL OF THEM
They are so good
I played a of them when i had nightshifts to stay focused in quiet moments
They are entertaining and have amazing lore!
Hope you play more of them 😂
Played the game till Theatre. To be honest, I didn't understand half of the overall story. Each story is very unique itself, though. Always a joy to find something related to the other games.
I really hope you play the Rusty Lake games. They are delightfully weird. I recommend starting with Rusty Lake Hotel, then Roots, then Paradise.
Oh yesss! I love Rusty Lake / Cube Escape games! 🧡💚 I played some of them. I watched John back then and recently Jacob played it.
Another wonderful video from Ms. Smolders 😊
I love everything from Rusty Lake
I hope you play more this soon gab, because this is a good game for you and like you said for filler episodes😊
Van Gogh's friend Paul is Paul Gauguin another painter of the time :)
Van gogh getting wasted with all that absinthe and wine lol
I love this game! I was just a bit creeped by it but it's so good!!!
