- I know Japan is thought to be an extraordinarily clean country, but even here there are spots of litter or trash that can get out of control. So we cleaned up a beach for #trashtag! We ended up picking up over 8,100 L of trash (mostly plastic), not even including all the fishing nets/tarps/whatnot. We'll be continuing these cleanups in Fukuoka, Japan every month so visit cleanup.ciclo.jp/ if you want to join our next one!

2020: cleaning up pollution
@@loosens9999 you can't clean pollution??
@@notnadz_ Well technically you can, they had a day or two days in China were the smog is really bad from cars were no one was allowed to drive and the sky cleared. Imagine if everyone used electric or water powered cars instead, that would help pollution. ^^
@@Ryebunny it would help/get rid of pollution not clean it.
@@Ryebunny Do you know how hard it is to safely get rid of the batteries waste and also how much resources it takes to make these electric powered batteries? Although it is better for the air to use electric cars it is not better for the environment as a whole in the long run.
i think the worst part is the sand hides a lot of the trash.
The worse part is us creating that trash and not care to recycle.

This is actually a great challenge to become a trend.
Too bad many popular youtubers will be too selfish to take the time out of their days to do something that doesn't earn them money(beside ad revenue)
Just a few of thoughts on safety:
1. Wear sturdy, thick soled shoes/boots. The folks in flipflops had me cringing.
2. Sharps resistant gloves.
3. First Aid kit that can handle lacerations, punctures, sprains, and bone breaks.
4. Somebody trained to use the First Aid kit.
The thing about finding needles was a shock for me. I've done cleanups on my local beach and typically nobody really wears puncture-resistant gloves. I certainly never did. Although I don't think we'd pulled any needles out of the sand, probably because the beach is a terrible place to shoot up in my area (high police presence, lots of witnesses), it could definitely happen. The thought of needles sticking up from a cluster of seaweed feels like a real violation; thankfully, we have McDonald's bathrooms for that sort of thing, so I think that's where most of the action gets siphoned off to, heh.
@@StochasticUniverse We've had stream cleanups, in my area, where people have stepped on rusty nails/screws. Plenty of broken glass, too. People digging in the sand, with their hands, had me sweating. Seemed like the beach trash was washed up, and not dumped.
@@C_Turtle-vv9lu Yeah, definitely have to watch out on a beach. Theoretically anything _could_ wash up there. Would suck pretty bad to get hepatitis for your trouble in trying to beautify the landscape.
yeah it made me cringe they weren't using gloves at the very least. Medical or drug users waste can easily be among the pile.
I agree with everything but I am wondering about that first aid kit. How would you break your bones while picking things up?

"If you have time, can we make it together?"
This small comment made my eyes water, it was so cute and sweet. It makes me actually want a child.
Lol, yeah. I don't personally want kids that much, but sometimes I almost reconsider when I see kids like that!
Well...yeah. The first few years of a child's life are going to strongly affect how the child will be for their entire life. If you neglect a child for the first 7 years of their life, they'll never be able to adapt (there are rare exceptions). Even the smallest things could ruin your child's life. Trauma at that age is almost unhealable. My friend was neglected and abused and she is almost completely emotionless. She cares about her close friends and some family members and that's about it. And she has a really weird way of showing it. She's extremely agressive, suicidal, homicidal and has horrible learning disabilities. She'll never be even close to fully functioning. I feel so terrible for her. But being uncareful while pregnant, genetics, and even just life being life can produce an unstable child. It's sad, really. People always blame "psychos", and yet they don't realize that nobody chooses to be evil. The human brain is an extremely complex, yet fragile thing.

Potatoes we do need help and cleaning. Stop throwing those things out there both. Yep help each other no matter what.

Jayfrid exactly right!
@Rouge Raven Yup, it should
I suspect a great deal of this is the result of planes and boats/ships crashing and sinking in the ocean. A lot if this debris you show looks like it could have come out of someones luggage. Also, much of it could be from fishing boats that use the ocean to dump their refuse instead of off loading it into dumpsters on shore
this reminds of the scene in Spirited Away where they pull the trash out of the river spirit
i remember reading somewhere about that scene being inspired from miyazaki-sensei's experience of cleaning up his local river so that makes sense

Cleaning a beach with a cold or while having a child strapped to your back. Good job guys.
This was a great video! I grew up doing school group cleanups. We would go to different local creeks and ditch areas in the neighborhoods to pick up trash. Still doing this in my current neighborhood. We have regular creek cleanups and it works! It always looks nice. We take a bag along with us for walks as well. The other great thing about it is that this creek joins the Santa Ana River that goes directly to the Ocean. This prevents the debris from going any further. Thanks for your hard work!

after looking this video I shown it to my brother and my cousin and we all went to the forest behind our village and clean it up completly ^^ I'm quite proud of myself , it's amazing what you managed to do in this video , continue like this ;D
My family used to have a forested area behind our house. A stream went through it that came from further into the city, and every spring (after snow melt and before the grass got too high) we would go out and pick up bags and bags of plastic bottles and stuff. Right behind our house the stream spread out and got shallower so all the trash carried by the melt water ended up there.
How nice! Good job!

There is one thing even more important than cleaning up trash. And that is to not make trash to begin with.
Of course everyone will create trash. There are plenty of times when you simply can't avoid it. But you can change a LOT in your daily life to reduce the amount of plastic trash you create. For instance; I'm not drinking anything from plastic bottles anymore. Well, I use a Dopper which is a refillable bottle. I don't eat individually packaged cookies, nor do I eat candy bars (Twix and the like). The cookies are replaced by something home-baked which is really easy to make (about 10~20 minutes every 1.5 weeks).
I also buy my peanuts and other nuts from the market in order to reduce plastic. I've even switched to another brand of 'hagelslag' which doesn't have a plastic window in its box.
But there aren't many near-zero-waste options available. Therefore I'm also actively asking stores what they can offer. This way I'm letting them know that there is a demand for those options. The stores need to change, but they pretty much only care about short-term money. Sure, it might cost us a bit more to get things to change, but it is worth it. Each breath we take we breathe in micro plastics. This can't be healthy for anyone..
I'm not asking you to live a zero-waste lifestyle. It's hard, and I can't do it either. But please please please reduce the amount of waste you produce. It helps a lot.
(It would also help a lot if you could pick up some trash every once in a while though :p )
How does this only have 20-ish likes??
Wat voor reacties krijgt ge van winkels wanneer ge om verandering vraagt?
Reusable bags when grocery shopping to. Or my mom crochets things and uses the plastic bags as stuffing. Reusable straws and take them with you when you go out. And a few small things I can't remember right now. But it all helps a small small bit. Not a lot but it better then nothing
I always bring my own bags to the store so I don't have to use plastic ones! I also always try to make everything at home so I don't need to take processed food anymore. I began to have these good habits when I learn about how much plastic are in the ocean, anymore tips and suggestions is appreciated
I would also like to suggest that people use solid bars of soap instead of liquid hand soaps or bath soaps from bottles. That is a huge way to eliminate plastic waste. And if possible shampoo bars (Lush sells them). I used to go through so many bottles of soap! And try to avoid plastic bottles that are not clear or white. Apparently plastic isn't recycled when they are dyed colors.
