    For those who are asking, eating potatoes RAW can be very toxic (and sometimes poisonous) to the body. Must be cooked. So I have used cauliflower as a healthy and fun alternative! Hope you enjoy! :)

      So that someone searching for "raw mashed potato" can find it. To be complete, the title should probably include even more: "raw vegan mashed potato; mashed cauliflower", would cover most bases. I.e, it's for findability. I recently searched for "raw vegan egg salad". Do you get it?

    Ugh, seriously? Why is it that I always find people upset in the comments because of what she chose to call it, claiming that it's deceiving when in the title it clearly states fullyraw.. If you don't know what that means when you clicked the video, that's on you. It's not only vegans who come up with recipes and call it something that it's not. By doing so it makes it a bit more exciting.

    • @swiftset
      @swiftset 9 років тому +4

      +Jessica Clorine "By doing so it makes it a bit more exciting." Lol! I'd rather the excitement come from the food, rather than the misleading name.

    • @blackcat88able
      @blackcat88able 9 років тому +3

      It makes it more exciting for fullyraw vegans to be more specific. People shouldn't have to critique what they call something solely because of someone else's opinion/inability to read the title of the video before watching it.

    • @princess0sousue
      @princess0sousue 9 років тому +1

      +Jessica Clorine it's okay if she wants to call it mashed potatoes (eventhough she used cauliflower cause that could just be her being creative etc ) but at least make sure that it TASTE like it. Have u even tried the recipe? It was awful. Taste FAR from mash potato so at this point I honestly have no idea why it's even called that.

    I've been doing a lot of research on the raw food diet (lifestyle) and I am moving myself in that direction. I've not tried any of your recipes just yet but my question is do the cauliflower mashed potatoes actually taste like mashed potatoes? Does the chili actually taste like chili? Do cupcakes actually taste like cake etc…etc….?
    I am juicing a green juice every morning and upped my raw fruits and vegetable intake greatly. I super excited about giving this a 100% shot at the first of the year….thanks.

    I am just eating this wonderful dish as I write. I jazzed it up with a teaspoon of tahini,, salt and black pepper. Definitely not the same as real mashed potatoes, but since we're into raw food and low-glycemic, this is a great addition to my diabetic recipe collection. Reminiscent of potatoe salad. I like it! Thanks for the creative idea and the mashed-potatoe dance too.

    • @rlfawn1829

      I read in a recipe once that you can try processing the cauliflower with some water first and then strain out the water with cheese cloth. I don't keep any extra cheesecloth laying around or anything, but should be at most grocery stores. Anyway, they said it takes out some of the bitterness of it and probably tones down the smell too. Good luck!

    • @MsSilentH
      @MsSilentH 10 років тому +2

      Warm foods are hard to give up when its cold out! But this challenge is about getting people to have just one fully raw meal a day, which is pretty viable even when its cold out. For me its easier to have raw food for breakfast or lunch, when it's not quite as cold, then I go for a warm dinner.

    • @SoapBoxYes

      ***** That's me, Real Vegetarian, but Kristina does an awesome job sharing what she knows and recipes. For many years, before I even knew of Kristina, my meals are raw. I personally don't like the word Vegan because a true vegetarian eats no animal or animal products or foods with them in it. The only difference is a vegan doesn't use leather or wear leather or fur which I agree with but still prefer the term Vegetarian over the newer word Vegan.

    • @MsSilentH
      @MsSilentH 10 років тому +3

      Jerilyn Jund That's very true. Vegetarian has become to mean someone who eats no meat but does consume milk, eggs and/or cheese, but we should really be using the term lacto-ovo vegetarian etc for that description.

      I usually just grab a fruit, veggie or both, put it in a bag for my fast lunch for work. Tomatoes and many fruits I'll just cut at work when I eat it to keep it fresh. Carrots and other foods I just eat whole. I do make a salad for dinner with a wide variety of veggies and sprouts I grow. I like things simple and quick so seldom make anything fancy out of my fruits/veggies. I have made the mashed cauliflower and love it. I also make a lot of raw or slightly warmed soup. I'm not totally raw, I do eat a baked or boiled potato, sweet potatoes, yams, rutabaga, and beans is about all I eat cooked. I hope you have fun with Kristina's recipes. If it's raw and plant based, ya can't really mess it up and the taste is great!

    can really go wrong with eating regular cooked potatoes either, unless you add fat to them. Its hard to overeat them since they are quite low in calories, about the exact same amount per bite as bananas but are a bit more nutritious than banana and are also quite easy to digest probably because of their high water content.

    I tried this recipe, along with some of your zoodle recipes. This one is a little rough on me, I think I'll try it next time with powdered garlic instead of raw, because the garlic's heat was magnified somehow and I started to get some bad reactions. I'll see what happens with garlic powder. Your zoodle recipes have been winners though so far. The kids loved them and my 5 year old son loved helping. They devoured the zoodles with marinara in seconds.

People who try to break other people down only do so because they are unhappy with themselves. But I'm sure you already know that😇 you are so inspiring and beautiful inside and out! I hope to be like you one day, just confident and beautiful. ❤️

    I attempted to become vegan, and in doing so I covered most of my bases- I was consuming protein, vegetables and fruits on the daily. However while I was vegan (for 4 months) I always just felt really sick, weak and unwell.. So I reverted back to my old semi-unhealthy way of eating. (more chips, chocolate and junk food in general) When I started consuming these more "fatty" foods again I felt way better than I did on the vegan diet. Does anyone have a possible explanation?? :(

    • @LearnGrowChange24

      Could be that you were detoxing. It can make you feel like crap! Could be you were not eating enough calories or fruit carbs....this happened to me. Also, anytime you cut out addictive foods, your body fights you on it....so, there could be many reasons. I just keep trying at it. The more times I aim for it, the better I do each time and the better I start to feel every time. I'm just not totally there yet.

      Your body needs fats, I don't care what these 80/10/10 people say. Maybe try a less extreme route to get healthy, like consuming more whole foods. Then listen to you body. Give it what it wants as long as it's a whole food (it will take your body a little bit to get over the addiction to junk food, but once you start feeling better, you body will crave the healthy stuff). Then, after you have been practicing intuitive eating, you can see what makes you feel best. Is it light, raw foods? Or cooked foods and fats? It might change with the season, or even by the month. Never stick to one thing and never put a label on yourself. Just make your body happy!

      for me, I started to eliminate unhealthy foods one at a time and incorporated more fruits and veggies and the detox was not as bad. and eating enough calories is crucial to staying on a healthy lifestyle. I still have bad days where i bend and make bad choices. but over all. i feel much better eating a plant based diet.

    • @lenuikv
      @lenuikv 10 років тому

      Track your calories!!! Make sure you are eating enough. I have a couple friends who tried veganism for a while and completely under ate. You have to eat more on a vegan diet because, hopefully, you are eating more fruits, veggies, and grains which are much much lower in calories than meat, dairy, and eggs.

    Kristina, why do you take such healthy foods and attribute to those foods, the names of foods that are known to be unhealthy? Cauliflower is not mashed potato and it should never be referred to as mashed potato period. By doing this, you are further digging our obsession with bad foods further into our brains because even while we eat something which is good for us, we are referring to it and therefore thinking of something that is not so good for us.

    you can mix in coconut milk to make it creamy. Or in any other dish. We have lot of coconuts available here so can put in almost anything. substitute for milk. Also u can put coconut milk in a bowl and add raw veggies like tomato onion cucumber carrot all chopped up in tiny cubes and finally add lemon juice. can add chopped up lettuce or Yr fave Vegs etc. very tasty.
