What most people don't realize about country music is that country fans still listen to the radio and buy cds. If you have a country hit and own the publishing, you get 8 CENTS every time your song is played because the radio stations are mandated by law to pay that fee. So if you have a million streams on Spotify (.00521 cents per stream) you get $5,210.00. One million radio plays(at .08 cents per play)gets the publisher $80,000.00! Radio play is where the money is.THAT is why all the major labels demand your publishing rights when you are offered a contract. Country music is getting the airplay. If you can write a country hit and keep your publishing, you've opened the gold mine.

It’s a new wave of country that’s heavily rap influenced. All these new country artists got 808s and rap cadences in their songs and even if it’s not rap it’s heavily pop influenced. True country artist will get over looked for the younger mainstream artist which normally means they’re versatile.

The hard part about trying to break country music to an urban audience is that the general back story to country music is being raised in a "country environment" it'll definitely go well for a lot of the southern region, but I think it'll be hard to make a new global artist of it. I think labels will focus more on other demographics outside of the black audience at least outside of the southern black audience.

Rap music is the words and sounds that’s used to speak for the culture like song and dance. It’s a culture just like every other culture. @@1ChrisBlake HipHop started from the partying and at those raps they was rappin back then was diss records battles one man putting another man down talking about them in a negative way. that’s not uplifting. Now there was rappers who sent a positive message in their music. The only reason they didn’t rap about the stuff the rappers do today is because they couldn’t. They wasn’t allowed to talk about street stuff on record they couldn’t even cuss. They sold the rights to HipHop when they signed them papers. They removed everything but the vocalist. I get what you saying though I think the older you get the more HipHop/Rap music seems so off. Everybody love the idea of hip hop/rap music from there era. To me looking at what HipHop was and how fun and cool it looked best years was whenever, wildstyle, beat street, krushgroove, Breakin was released so around 84to about 88 after that it started changing no more Bboys, Djs was fading away, graffiti artist gone.. but yeah now days rappers talk about the same shit just in a different cadence and accent. About the music industry, the best thing that could happen to artists today would be an app that let you register your name as a label, so upon registration in the app, you the "artist" is the brand and become automatically your own label, allowing you to keep all your publishing, all your masters, and all your royalties. Everything you create you own, making the major record labels completely obsolete for the music industry we know today and for all future generations to come.

I think one thing folks are neglecting is that with the rise of the right wing, conservatives, trump supporters and the Q conspiracy theories who are in every facet of society these days but it's primary center of support is the South and Midwest where White Christian Nationalists have always listened to country. With that said, in my opinion, the rise of Country is due to the rise of White Christian Nationalists who are conservative and racist. Hip Hop has declined for various reasons but one reason I speculate is because the music no longer speaks for the struggling black and brown community in the innercity, atleast not comparable to the 90s. Where as country is a traditional music where no matter how modern artists take it, country is a kind of folk music kinda like blues is in that the rhythms and lyrical content is generally the same throughout the decades where as Hip Hop seems to change dramatically every 5 years or so. In my opinion, chale with country, and if Hip Hop ain't doing it for us, then we need to get back to our roots, Soul which is also on the rise! You heard it here first! As Hip Hop declines in the black and brown community, the rise of Soul in the tradition of the 60's is about to take over! In fact it's already happening!

    • @saintkevinofficial

I agree with most what you said, except the fact that I don't think anything is going to come next, unfortunately. There aren't enough strong communities to create a new genre or revive an old one. If people start listening to soul again, it won't be new soul, that's for sure. Community is dying, society is decaying and we're watching it.

Country has always dominated. Their fan base has always been loyal. It's mainstream without general/mainstream people really talking because they always made a lot of money. They've had Black country artists (in recent history), but they're just now putting more money into pushing the Black country artists. Especially after Kane Brown & Darrius Rucker doing very well. Mickey Guyton has been there for more than 10 years, since 2011, but she never received any marketing push to be popular. Beyonce & others aren't bringing it on. For the past few years, record companies have been putting money behind Black country artists like The War and Treaty. Beyonce, like K Michelle, is just noticing it and following through with their own records. & Joe Budden isn't ahead. 6 months ago, there was a Billboard article saying that music executives were "depressed" because they hadn't had any break out artists since Ice Spice & Olivia Rodrigo. Of course that means they're not making money, they can't force people to like that music, so they''ll change who they sign.
