    This is 100% the clearest video I have ever watched. Rebuilt a whole carb for the first time in about 2 hours with your videos. 10/10 execution in how you explain everything. Thank you for such a high quality video!

    A suggestion. Instead of holding the top of the carb with your hand when measuring the float drop, get a couple of brinks (stacked) and set the carb top on the bricks (fuel bowls hanging down). Now you have both hands free to measure, and not shaking (particularly for us older types).

    Soooo....I am DIY'er with a 1964 Corvette that has a Carter 3460S carb. I have been plagued with rough idle issues and can't find anyone in my community that will work on carburetors. I have wrestled with rebuilding the carb (it is original to the matching numbers car) but until I saw the videos have been reluctant to try rebuilding. Part one and two are so well done that I am going to order a rebuild kit! Thanks Kyle!

    Dude! Your video series was absolutely perfect! Thank you soooooo much man! I was pretty intimidated being this was my first carb I've ever rebuilt. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but, I've never tackled a full size carb before. But this video was super helpful man! You gave my the confidence to just go for it and I'm glad I did cause looking back, it wasn't even that hard. Anyway, top notch video! Thanks again bud!!👍👍🍻

    oh that's genius to do the plunger in the top portion first. I set it down in the bottom portion then fed it through carefully. duh! I rebuilt an AFB from a 58 DeSoto with a 350 mopar motor. Very easy carbs to rebuild. Thing fired right up afterward. Will need minimal tuning. Great vid series!

    The new accelerator pump spring is smaller on one end. It goes into the bottom of the well. The bigger end attaches to the pump. You can use a credit card for electric choke adjustment. Place credit card against choke horn and adjust electric choke so choke butter fly just touches credit card and then tighten down 3 phillip screws hold downs.

    Thanks for the walk through! I hope this does the trick for my 4.3l merc cruiser. It was bogging down under load. Seemed like the floats were way off from where they should have been when putting it all back together, so hopefully that was the problem (everything else seemed to be in good shape).

    Hello, thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Your instructions were step-by-step great, on my side I ran into a problem where I bought my carburetor in pieces and the guy must’ve forgot to throw in the secondary Venturi so now I’m stuck. I’m not sure if other victories from a different model size of another Edelbrock carburetor will fit. If you see this message can you let me know? If not no worries I’ll figure it out.

    For the idle mixture screws, it looks like you only adjusted them out half as far as they need to go. That was two half turns and an 1/8th turn if I am not mistaken.

    I reman a lot of caburators over 42 years, to do a good cleaning you must use carburator cleaner as Gunk an let's soak all metal parts for about 30 minutes , rince with hot water and blow all parts with compressed air. In the kit you must find instructions about ajusting many important system of the carb , choke pull off, unloader , fast idle cam , fast idle rpm, accelerator pump rod, meetering rod plunger, float level , secondary trottle opening , ect reman a carburator is not only a cleaning job , the most important is all those ajustements, Please ! NEVER use a rag that lint can obstruc tiny passage in the carb use compress air

    • @jeffgabrisl7016
      @jeffgabrisl7016 5 років тому +1

      I wanted to say the same thing. The rag he used to clean the carb would have left an unacceptable amount of lint. Also, there is something to be said for putting all parts on the side of the carb you remove it from. This guy likes to put his same parts together, and that makes it too easy to mix them up.

    Hi, i am having problems with the primary jets dripping constantly on AB Carter 9700 and flooding the carb, i have replaced the needle and seats, the original needles had a clip to help the needle open when the float falls but it seems to be causing the float to stick. Would you recommend the use of the clip? as i noticed you dont have them on the floats in your video.
    Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
    Regards Steve Fish

  • @moeshouse575
    @moeshouse575 4 роки тому

    i have found out that if you dont have to take the jets out DONT. it just isnt needed. also the float drop is not needed to set, as the float hits the bottom of the float floor first. also try 7/32 float level and see if that works for you

    You forgot to install the gasket and star washer in the top housing for the accelerator pump. At 1:10 of the video you left them in the box as spare parts... Nope! Your rebuild will be squirting fuel out of the top the accelerator pump housing. BIG mistake for a Hagerty video!

    at 10:45 that is completely unnecessary. your adjustments might not be the same as before after cleaning and rebuilding the carburetor. you could have just ran them both down backed them off about a turn and a half or two turns and then just re tuned it once the carb is on the engine running so you know its right for its current internal flow state.

      My Edelbrock carb has been the perfect street carb for my car. I have a 1979 Camaro with a SBC 400 and a 2.41 posi rear end. At 600cfm I have all the torque I need, instant throttle response, and enough cfm to hit 120mph. I also didn't have to rebuild the carb for 15 years. My carb only had problems right before, and after I rebuilt it, I need to rebuild it again. Otherwise, I would be happy to trade you a wood block for your Eddy carb, because I would hate to see a great carb being used as a prop just because someone doesn't understand how to tune it.
