you're quickly becoming one of my favorite fashion related channel. Well researched and informative, while being grounded and reasonable with your appreciation of fashion. Extremely appreciated.
I'm a korean who used to work at YMC(You Must Create, which is based in london) 8 years ago and now I'm learning about korean fashion industry from a british bloke lol
your videos are great so far! PAF, XLIM, Hyein Seo and a few others are all wardrobe staples for me now, I love a lot of their approaches to daily uniform while implementing actual useful technical features and interesting design language
I saw that old boy clip :) To those who dont know, its the last part of a series called the Revenge trilogy. Mr vengeance, sympathy for lady vengeance, and oldboy.
Koreans on average have bigger and wider faces than those in other nations. I'm Korean living in the west and every time I go to a glasses store or try on a hat, or helmet, I always struggled to find a size large enough for my head, and end up getting the "XXXL" size. There is a reason behind the obsession for making our faces seem "smaller."
Well done mate. Will never personally own dragon boots but can definitely enjoy from afar. Waiting for light armor drops so I can still dodge roll out of social situations effectively.
From my point of view, it seems to be strongly influenced by Japanese subcultures from the 80's to 2000 s. such as Comme des Garcons, Yoji Yamamoto, Kenzo, gyaru culture, manga, music, etc...from the 80s and 2000s. Just like Japanese youth were influenced by Western subcultures. By the way, the Korean movie Oldboy is based on a Japanese manga.
*thug club (excuse my bad pronunciation haha) I would recommend HBX. They sort out all the import and duty fees for you and the delivery is super quick.
the fashion community should gatekeep more. telling people about brands only contributes to consumerism and blind trend followers. no hate tho i love your videos 💯💯❤
You do realise that gatekeeping puts smaller designers out of business? Spread the word on your favourite brands and educate people on (over)consuming. The two don’t have to complement each other
The lore in fashion is pretty fascinating. I don’t engage in it myself beyond practical jeans and tshirt much of the time but it is cool to learn about other people’s hobbies
Is there fashion that plays/deals with atavism? Like, sometimes fashion items are inspired by clothes from earlier epochs but I mean a kind of 'de-evolution', like 'reactivated' lapels on suit jackets. Lapels that can be closed high and the collar could be folded upwards around the neck. Or suits that explore their textile predecessors from 18th cent. or older. Fashion that dives into the history of some clothing details without just being reenactment. Can the history of hoods be reconnected to Gugel/Chaperon? How could a contemporary take on footwraps work? In which ways can the workwear/sportswear roots of certain clothes be reanimated and/or regain their funcionality? Which parts of which clothes show historical connections to military/clergy/aristocracy in the way they are shaped or detailed? I know there are fashion brands that include historic sources in their research and sometimes even try to make some pieces or parts similar to historic examples. - That alone is already really interesting. But I wonder, if there are brands that look at contemporary mainstream clothing and try to modify it in ways that shed light on the evolution that led the clothes to the point they are now. I think 'atavism' and the lapel example describe the best what I mean. I hope it's somewhat comprehensible.
As someone really into fashion and everything ur channel embodies but doesn’t really keep up with designer stuff especially current stuff ur channel is fun cause it doesn’t make me feel like I’m not understanding references to other things. Anything u reference gets explained

I don’t even like fashion that much but this channel really makes me want to come back to it again
the skincare and kdrama spheres along with a rise in webtoon(fashion heavy, eg lookism/ streetwear) are also factors that play a role
just want to add my voice to all the people giving you props. great topics, dry humour and learning so much. keep going! 🙌💪🏽

FFFpostal service Made a more cohesive narratieve with their clothes than their inspiration Death Stranding
Because Death Stranding is higher vibrating 5D shit while FFFpostal service is surface reality

i actually have a pair of gentle monsters that i got a prescription for when i went to korea. never knew they were a breakout brand like that.
Not going to lie but the music in the first 6 minutes is kind of insufferable... loud and distracting. But good video, learned a little bit
