There is actually a good point here. The "we forgot these technologies" argument doesn't apply the same to art, like you're trying to make it do. Ancient Egypt fell because the Nile is not a static river and its course changes, which is what it did, and this affected agriculture so much that their society collapsed. The Roman empire collapsed due to greed, overdependence on slave labour, overexpansion, and being completely overwhelmed by Germanic tribes seeing their opportunity to attack a weakening empire. Contemporary art is merely a change in style, and nobody is going into libraries to destroy books on classic art. It's a pretty piss poor thing to try and attach an argument to, and it's even worse to cite Elon saying things, because he is not smart. He's an entrepreneur, and I call him that loosely, who throws things at the wall and sees what sticks. His running of twitter should show everyone how he's just fooled people into believing he's some genius, and not some guy taking the credit for everyone else's work. He singlehandedly smashed a social media site into the ground and then turned around to blame other people for his own actions. I mean, he literally told advertisers to go fuck themselves, and now is trying to sue them because they won't advertise on the platform after he said that, without realisation that maybe companies don't want their product being shown directly underneath Neo Nazi propaganda.
Today's art has two major flaws: No one is interested anymore in whether you are practically and theoretically literate in art: 1. Everything is art, you just need to defend it through a commission, a thesis, etc. What you have created may be something that no one, not even you, understands, but if you manage to defend it as art - then it is art. All these high prices are money laundering. 2. A company or a millionaire wants to make big money? They connect with an artist and give them a project: "We will buy you paints, huge canvases, paint something and then we will organize an exhibition. You will make $25,000 from the project." The artist paints. The company/millionaire calls a gallery, media, newspapers. They secretly plant a "buyer" (their own person) who works for the company. On the opening day, everything explodes, everyone is "stunned", the audience is in euphoria... And the BUYER arrives! The money spent on the paintings belongs to the company, not foreign money. The money goes from my right pocket to the left. There is no real purchase. It's all fake. The artist gets their money. The company gets the money without tax. This is how money laundering happens. Do you think modern paintings are worth anything? They're worth nothing. The price and taste are determined by the media, newspapers, and most importantly, by the one who pays the orchestra. The important thing is that all of this is coming to an end, and great masters like Bouguereau, Cabanel, Ingres, old classics are returning to the public's eye, and modern art is waning and is no longer in vogue. When I say "modern art", I immediately associate it with "illiteracy".
I hate the video and everything but the painting you made; it's very... I don't know. It really encompasses a lot of themes and emotions and memories. I love it, man, I love it. Hope your film methodology changes soon tho❤
Yeah...contemporary art seems silly to me to for the most part. But to each their own! Expressing pure emotion in art is a very cool, I just don't think a lot of them are doing that. It's just pretentious garbage. I did actually really like the big portrait painting you used on the thumbnail, it's awesome! I think some of the greatest artists to ever have lived are currently alive, but just not in the fine art world. All of the old masters techniques are being used by the concept art and illustration community. Ruan Jia, Piotr Jablonski, Jaime Jones, Craig Mullins would be up there.
i'll be honest guys i actually am scared of that painting like it gives me genuine fear and anxiety also, look at dragan bibin's artwork specifically his collection of works, deimos (pronounced: dee-mos)
another video of a guy saying that classic art is the best, and mentions only the big sales, without knowing anything about the composition of the art work, or what other things is the modern art doing... but hey, everything for clicks right??
imagine citing elon to develop a point
