The first two minutes of that riff is actually over 100 years old, no, seriously, it is from my favourite album of all time The Planets by Gustaf Holst, the track is Mars ( bringer of war ) written around 1914-16. Loads of bands have "borrowed" that riff including King Crimson, Hawkwind and Led zeppelin used it in the middle of live versions of Dazed and Confused.
