It seems that a lot of people from elsewhere in the Anglosphere don't understand American humour when it comes to ethnic/national jokes. It's usually mocking American stereotypes of the place just as much (if not more) than it's mocking the place itself. Conan has been to Ireland many times, and has done shows from there for both NBC and TBS. He doesn't *actually* think that actor is an authentic Irishman, it's just poking fun about Irishness in the American popular imagination.

If you go to the town of Bushmills you will see the Ulster flag, the Union Jack, and potraits of the queen. You will not see the Irish flag or St. Patrick's greens.

There's more to Irish whiskey than just Bushmills or Jameson. Redbreast, Powers, Tullamore Dew among many others are all made [to their own recipes] under the same roof of Jameson, but Midleton Distillery also made this subsection called Jameson Caskmates, which is finished in a stout barrel, which originated from Jameson. Mellows the taste out dramatically and is very smooth. Still has a hefty kick though!

There are about 2 dozen accents across Ireland, half a dozen in the Dublin area alone. People talking about a "legitimate Irish accent" have almost definitely never been to Ireland, or probably anywhere else for that matter.
