I was selected for Gymnastics at my school, and I was really into it. I loved Beam, Floor and Uneven Bars, but I was totally terrified by the Vault. I am happy my parents and coaches took me serious and never pushed me into doing it. I really had a bad feeling and now I think I would be injuried today if I would have pushed me to do it. I have the greatest respect for these ladies, that they can do something crazy like that and feel comfortable with their sport. Go ladies!
I giggle hard at the black and white footage. For once, “I can do that”, is true!
Who knows, future kiddos may giggle after seeing what we are doing now!! 😀
@@sreeharikmohan1819 If they get bionic legs maybe, Biles is already at the limit of what a human can do IMO
@@julittok Agree 😀. She is awesome ❣️
Well but could you with that exact vaulting thingy. That looked stiff as a brick
😂😂😂😂
Women who vault are AWESOME 💪
Дщерь
All very impressive.
I’m here to celebrate Oksana Chusovitina. What a legend.
For anyone wondering why they changed the vault apparatus in 2004, it was because in 2000 at the Sydney Olympics they had incorrectly set it 5cm lower causing many gymnasts to overshoot it and injure themselves. The new design, and later with a slope, was designed to make it safer for the gymnasts if it were incorrectly set again.
It also caused a lot of (rightly) international backlash.
Especially with a lot of the top all-arounders ending up with falls and heavy penalties on the first rotation where vault was their starting point.
A lot of the athletes were extremely rattled by that and it destroyed any chances of getting a medal. Even after the mistake was found and corrected and after they were offered to do the vault again with no penalty.
That mistake cost 1 gymnast a gold medal. I don't remember her name.
@@shonda79able Several, actually.
I know one of the top Russians got knocked out of the competition, and at least two Americans also lost any chances.
It was probably one of the (if not most) controversial event in gymnastics history.
I can't believe how simple the 1956 vault was!
Yeah me either it’s hard to believe
I think vault was much more difficult when you had a narrow rectangle that you were blindly flipping onto. Now they have a massive table to vault off. And yes, the tricks are more impressive, but what Boginskaya did took it to another level.
The reason they don’t have the narrow rectangle anymore is because someone slipped, broke her neck, and died. The newer vault design is much safer.
I assume you didn't watch the 2000 Olympics. I also assume you have n9t heard of one girl named Julissa Gomez who died hitting the vault.
Actually, it was Yurchenko who did it first.
They changed it after the vaulting debacle in Sydney
@@lilymae7516 the vault was set 5cm too low in Sydney, it mee seem as not that much but this resulted in those accidents
Boginskaya is unbelievable. Wonder what she would have been able to do with today's equipment
The elegance of Sandra Izbasa is Unique
The background sound simply enhances the emotional engagement to these clips
Haha that very first vault from 1956 we always had to do during PE class in school but I get that back then it was super impressive!
Should have shown Mckayla Maroney's vault at the London Olympics. Her vault is considered the greatest vault in Olympic history
Yes
this video only show the one who win the vault in each olympic actually
Yes thank you!!!
But Mckayla didn’t win
If she's not in here because she didn't win, her "not impressed" look should be.
This Video is incomplete without legendary Produnova
Yes absolutely! Which already did successfully by India's Dipa Karmakar at Olympics... Actually this vault is really unique one while other vaults shown in the video looks a like!
The absolute queen of forward tumbling :)
this video only show the one who win the vault in each olympic actually
Which year and which country
Sad that Cheng Fei and Maroney are not in this lineup.
this video only show the one who win the vault in each olympic actually
Maroney was best in the team vault. That was the highlight. Still had the best vault individual.
I may no nothing about vaulting but i appreciate perfection when i see it. Excellent gymnasts
Vault is kinda scary to me, imagine breaking legs when landing.
Or necks. (when landing wrong side up)
@@multiio1424 ugh, tht's even worse.
That's why you need to practice all the basics ...
breaking neck is more dangerous.. u can get paralyzed for the rest of your life
I remember I watched one who broke his leg in a live olympics a few years back, it was so terrifying to watch it live.
I laughed at the first one but I couldn't do that either.
Vaulting is so badass 😎
Věra Čáslavská was so graceful and elegant! And all of them, so much power!
Notice how women gymnasts today have much more muscles 💪
They have to really work hard these days to excel.
Will miss seeing Queen Chuso rock the vault. 😢
Bogi is just so elegant! I love her.
Awesome video . Strong women
Cool video. I hope you do more of these with various sports
The direct comparison between Latynina and Biles gives the impression of completely different sports. Insane how the level changed.
And just imagine how everyone in 1950 would have reacted if the best Athletes from 1988 onwards would have competed the same moves back then...
Would've been impossible though. Its not just athletes getting better, but also equipment and stuff. Put Simone Biles on a horse like they used in the fifties, and then see what she can do. Would actually be pretty interesting :)
@@lucypevensie4367 Not to mention that the beam back then was just a block of wood, and the floor was just that - a floor. No springs like today. The skills in the floor routine that Nadia Comaneci did back in 76 actually took enormous strength to do off a "dead" floor. I wonder how she would do on the modern sprung floors. Same with her dismount on beam - no sprung beam back then to add power to the dismount, it was all just pure muscle.
@@chooseyourpoison5105hence Nadia legend forever
Outstanding
Progress is impressive and this is in forward way of accuracy.
Felicitări pentru ceea ce faceți
Invidia să nu existe . spiritul colegial să fie prezent
Thumbs up👍❤🇵🇭
❤️ thanks 🙏
AWESOME 👌🆒️🙌
Amazing 💞
Hey, Larisa really stuck that landing.
Yes!!! Nadia always number 1..🎁😍
Nellie Kim N1
Mind blowing
0:53 that one i find the best
Wow!
Im glad they made the apparatuses safer. Early ones looked scary and much more dangerous
They used Ecaterina Szabo’s compulsory vault not her event final vault which was much more harder.
Вов удивительное развитие спорта!!
Está na hora de atualizar com o salto de Rebeca Andrade
00:13 LOL 😂😂😂
If it was 1956 I would be a Olympic gold medalist 😂😂
Why is 1976 so much better than the surrounding ones ?
Wesley Urena•
I don't understand your question.
Nelli Kim was an incredible gymnast. But it's also the choice of the lineup.
@@elifdurmus8243 Nellie Kim is a joke. She literally stole other peoples skills and named them after herself. She would name the run up to the vault after her if could. They should’ve showed a different gymnast.
Post some routines from 2021 artistic gymnastics
I’m here for simoneeee
I wonder why the physical apparatus changed. Up until after the 2000 Olympics, it looked like a pommel horse without handles. Perhaps it's safer with the current shape so their hands don't "miss"?
in the 2000 Olympics a gymnast died doing the vault so they changed the design
@@sunidhinarula9183 Oh how very sad. Who was it?
No one died at the Sydney Olympics, but someone was severely injured. The pommel horse was set too low for women's vault during the Sydney Olympics, which caused lots of dangerous falls and led to one of the most controversial gymnastics events
Hong Un-Jong is learning what the real world is like
People are looking at the gymnasts and I’m looking at the evolution of the floor mats and the vault itself. When you don’t pay attention to details or think of HOW it evolved from nothing then sure, you “can do that”. Sure Jan.
Mónica Rosu 😍
I wonder How will be the FUTURE of women's vault at Olympics !
I miss Rumania in O.G 😒
We've come a long way, baby.
Nelli Kim was impressive
I am wondering how the competition was in 1956 if they were not able to beat that!
No words
Haha that’s so cute 👍
Will you be uploading footage of preliminary rounds or finals during the Tokyo 2020 Games?
Simone ❤
Rebeca Andrade 2021
Where is prodhunova vault this vault performing depa karmakar india🇮🇳 jemnast Rio 2016,kindly add this vault.
Results of the dedicated hearts.
The one at 0:12 what kind of tumble was that??
It was a jump over a support and an Olympic gold medal.
It seems like execution was more important until about 2004, then difficulty (with mediocre execution) took over. :(
❤️🤩🤩👍
Human keeps exceeding themselves🖒
And where is the NEW olympic champion Rebecca Andrade from Brazil?
Why Is Elena Produnava not here
they're only including OGM on vault
How in the world did you forget 1980 Moscow games
I was waiting for Nadia Comeneci.
YESSS
Where’s Mckayla Maroney?
this video only show the one who win the vault in each olympic actually
Americans should be sending positive vibes to Biles
As it turned out, drugs work, not vibes
Should've had Oksana on here. 😒
*Svetlana Boginskaya/USSR and *Henrietta Onodi/HU --------> THE BEST!!! & the best looking too =)

has the board changed much?
I just wana vault into a foam pit so bad
What happened to surfing today? It was clear what they did to eliminate the Brazilian athlete, Gabriel Medina. There is no explanation. And so far you have not spoken.
I'm sad because I always believed in the impartiality and seriousness of the Olympic Games. But after what happened today in surfing, the credibility and seriousness that I believed were lost.
Deepa Karmakar 4th place rahi thi pichle Olympics mai or Indian govt, state govt ne karodon 💰 nichbar kardi thi wus pe....dekh te hain is Olympic mai ek bronze bhi jit thi hai ki nahi

Thats neat and all, but how do you feel about hosting your winter games in a country that supports genocide?
where are the winter games?
oh... well it WOULD generate a lot of money.
What china is doing is something similar to saying "speak English" to minority group in the US.
@@mojo7530 its a bit more then that but yh you could put it that way
If that’s a criterion, then we’ll have to host the Games on another planet.
Just wondering, has any gymnists ever misstepped while running and fell down,. And has any gymnists ever stubbed a toe while running.
I think those are called failed runs.
