- We are in Durian Heaven! We visited DurianMan in SS2, PJ and the durian options did not disappoint. Besides enjoying my favorite Musang King, we finally got to try Black Thorn!

Glad you guys had a wonderful durian indulgence fresh in Malaysia.
Black Thorn is actually "genetically modified" with years of research to find the best combination for non durian lovers (because of the smell profile), if you have noticed it, it hardly smells like durian; which is why Logesh still feels Musang King is the utmost favourite because for a die hard durian lover , a durian without the pungent fragrance (or stink when it is not fresh) is not a durian. 😅
When I tried Black Thorn for the first time when it was first introduced several years back, I felt "half done". It's like my eyes told me I had durian, but my brain kept telling me "something is missing" 🙃
Next time if you have another visit here, try out "Black Gold Musang King". It is now me and my parent's new favourite because it is the Musang King profile but not overly sweet (like ice-cream).
I saw iChang's vid talked about "D110" that is going to be the next target.
Other than that, Udang Merah is also nice, and you can see the flesh looks "redder". (close to orange)

@@KumaarFamily Black gold musang king is musing king from old tree, more than 25 years tree if i am not mistaken, generally for durian, the older the tree the better the taste

Black thorn looks so beautiful. Even the shape of the fruit is perfectly round.
Caucasions usually do not like Durians!! D smell etc But then Rachael is an exception!!! Luv to see U n family enjoy eating d king of friuts of Malaysia. 😁
Rachel has been well trained after a few years of trying out and her senses have accustomed to it, she transformed into the durian babe lover! haha.

FUN FACT : If you plant just the seed of musang king, it will not come out as a musang king. Tested it. It will taste almost like D24. You have to kahwin the musang king tree with D24 tree to get Musang king tree that we eat nowdays.

This video is just torture to watch because I missed the durian season in Malaysia this year…so sad! If you guys ever get a chance to drive through Balik Pulau, Penang, you will see the most amazing abundant Durian trees all along that beautiful back country drive!!
Most importantly, August 31 should be declared as "National Durian Day" in the US! It's the perfect way to remember Malaysia's existence!

Long time ago, the Agriculturist at MARDi Kuala Kangsar experimented and produced the Durian d24. It was an old "brand". I loved it
err... not really 😅. it was registered in Nov 1937 and the mother tree is from Bukit Merah, Perak

I miss durian season this year, being in Ireland. Last year, I tried everything but XO and Black Thorn. Before marrying my then Irish boyfriend, he had to pass the durian test. Cannot makan, cannot kahwin 🤣🤣 He passed! He loves his durian and enjoys it like Rachel does.

You should try durian w pulut and santan. Oh sedap samgat. My family eat durian w Susu Pekat yang dicairkan dengan air panas. Wow sedap sangat he.macam makan pulut dengan mango Dan santan. Santan tu masak sedikit hingga mendidih sedikit.

The best experience for eating durian is at the orchard, fresh from the trees, sitting flat bare on the ground and grass. Enjoying it with your family. Doesn't matter what the durian is. :)
p.s. Not the 'commercialized' orchard. But the individually own, pakcik makcik ones :)

@@ijam11 There's whole lot of lots all over Malaysia. Just need some 'effort' to search for it. Hey, it could probably be right at the back of anyone's house. A neighbour, a friend, an atok at ur kampong. Unless, we are so tight knit not even knowing and even bother what's around us, in our own community.

I'm a crazy durian lover, tried all types and my favourite is Musang King..and no other can match it. You guys should try to look out for Durian Gangsa. It's very rare but it's worth trying.

*Great episode and always the Musang and Red Prawn are the best type of durians and they both tasty when cook in Green Bean Coconut Porridge or Bubur Kacang and also top up this durians on Ice Kachang or Chendol cos the taste will be so heavenly*

This video left me mouth watering, in Brisbane they sell Thailand’s durian ( in container)via Facebook , not so fresh and variety like Malaysia. Enjoy them Loges & Rachel ..miss durian season☹️

It still new promoted variaty, maybe some day u can get there, just be careful indonesia musang king, taste a bit different because of the soil

I don't think durian can be grown because their house location is not tropical but rather dry climate

wow, I remember a bunch of durian stalls at the corner in SS2. Now there is literally a big durian shop. I actually did my college in SS19, just a walk away from that traffic light junction. Dinner at the mamak just across from that police station. Old memories!

There are Malaysians who do not eat durians for whatever reasons. Can't blame them. D24 is almost similar taste to Musang King but the seed is big and the flesh is thinner as compared to Musang King.
I'm a Malaysian and I could never eat durian since I was little because I can't tolerate the taste... And I'm glad to know that there are many more Malaysians who can't eat durian just like me!

Still can't differentiate which is which. In the past, if I saw durian, I will just buy it. Had stop eating durian since 8 years ago cause in the past my best friend mum having diabetes and she love durian. So I gave her the strength not to think about it by me stopping eating it. You rugi the experience to eat it with your fingers/hands directly, Kumaars. Eating with gloves is a big no if you're a true durian lover. Should've used your hands - the authentic way.. The gloves is purely just for westerners, and to keep it clean. Also, this place used to be stall-like (roadside-like seating), only recently upgraded and changed to a shop-like setting.
The only reason I was using gloves is because we were sharing everything with a large group! But yes, eating with hands directly is the way to go!

You said that you wanna plant durian in America, that's not gonna work. First you need whole year of hot weather for durian, second you need slop earth profile for the flowing water, that's the reason Malaysia durian is so good

You can only do that on fresh durian,refrigerated durian is wet,you can't really expect the durian to crack easily.300k...come on Malaysian..help! help!.
