- On our previous trip to Malaysia, Rachel tried the Malaysian version of "Western food" and was severely disappointed. This time, Logesh took Rachel to Me'nate Steakhouse at the Curve, Damansara, in hopes to change Rachel's mind about how good Western food can be in Malaysia.

Not to discouraged or anything..Just a friendly suggestion..Try Jahhet Fine Meat instead.The owner is the founder of Menate (he allready sold his share in Menate).Almost all (maybe all) recipe at Menate is probabily developed by him.Pak Mus used to be a Master Butcher at Buckingham Palace.They got few branch within Klang Valley also like in Ampang & Bangi (just naming a few I recall)

Nice Video. Wow! That is a American feast in Malaysia. You have such good camera. Picture is glossy and rich HD. The score I 'd give, is 100 percent for the food and 100 percent for cute baby Ky Ky. I could eat him, but I won't. Gosh he is so adorable. Rachel will soon find it hard to lift him to carry. That is when you will need a Stroller. So blessed family. So happy too. Nice boys. Amazing to be living in Malaysia to be honest. Not only do we have a great variety of local fusion of foods and selection. And then there are also authentic overseas restaurants which are also as great as this. I can understand why they call Malaysia the food heaven for a reason.

I will definitely go with my family to eat in this restaurant when I come back home to Malaysia from New Zealand in December.My older sister is coming back too from San Franscisco and will bring her along to eat.
That food looked ridiculously good. I only been to menate like 6 times in 2 years. They're superb everytime, never once had a bad meal there. But a good steak can never beat a nasi lemak with rendang ayam on a banana leaf. Haha
I couldn't agree more! Any high quality steak is only affordable among wealthy people, while a good plate of nasi lemak is always available for everyone!

its good to see rachel use right hand to cut the meat and hold fork with her left hand but she change the fork to the right hand when she want to eat that... nice to see that
They plate food on top each other like tower in hotel or restaurant to make it look bigger portion and also a style of presentation. Clockwise plating is old style and only one of the way. Every way is western plating in culinary school.
You both is treated like King & Queen in Malaysia. Congratulations!

Thr 1st Menate steak restaurant if i ma not mistaken is Hulu Kelang nearby old I S.K.L. They are like The Ship and Victoria Station, a proper steak house. And the 1st malay owned steakhouse. Damm good steak and as good as the other best steakhouse

Thank you for sharing. Did not know Me'nate was at the Curve. BTW, for the 'malaysian western food'....there is this corner shop in SS3 called Hup Soon. My grandpa used to bring me there all the time when i was younger.
I have dreamed of trying the dishes at Menate but cannot afford it yet. Too expensive for me and my family. Witout a job since October 2020, I need to save the money I still have available for several years so that my family won't go hungry.

I went to menate twice, ordered the steak medium rare twice, and they overcooked the meat both times. Never went there again. But you made me want to try this branch. Everything looks so good here!

Me'nate and Beard Brothers are arguably amongst the best for steaks in Malaysia besides Victoria Station 😊

For me personelly the best is currently Jahhet Fine Meat.Owned by the founder of Menate..A former Master Butcher at Buckingham Palace - Mr Mustaffa Othman aka Pak Mus..He sold Menate somewhere around 2015-2016..

After watching this video, we were so excited. Tomorrow is our 23rd anniversary and we are currently staying in Ipoh. So my husband called to book a reservation. The woman that answered the phone was quite rude. He repeated his name 4 times and detailed the spelling 'Siva'. 😅 Seriously one of the easiest names to spell.
I really hope our experience tomorrow is better than what he experienced today.
Afterwards, we found where you can book a reservation online. That's probably the better option.
There's loads of amazing Western food in KL. The correct question is do you have money? RM 300+ per pax and you could get awesome food. P.s. I think there could be some confusion between American style Western food and European fine dining cuisine. Both of which can fall under the "Western" umbrella.

Hj. is a friend. Been going to his first restaurant in Ampang Jaya. Man Ate... that is how Hj. taught me to pronounce. BTW, Hj. was a butcher for the Royal family in England. I usually take his aged steaks blue. Enjoy. 😁😁😁

I've heard that there's a Wolfgang’s steakhouse in Genting. Yep, that Wolfgang from NYC, it's not cheap though. There's also a Gordon Ramsy`s grill in Banda Sunway
Now I feel like going there and eat all of that too.. 😊 they all look yummy .

The Me'nate founder, Mustaffa Othman spent 11 years in UK. After four years of rigorous training where he honed his skill in handling livestock and learning about animals, he was seconded to work in Buckingham Palace.
Years of rigorous training paid off when he became a master butcher and later chef to Queen Elizabeth II and the late Lady Diana Spencer for two-and-a-half years.

Recently, I went to Me'nate JB branch & wooo the lamb was WOW! How I wished haha that the price for the rest are as wow heee btw, the lamb price was reasonable but there are the 'atas' ones like wagyu & tomahawk.
menate is one of my western fav but do remember good food doesnt comes cheap
beef steak mostly starts from rm70 onwards, wagyu will cost you around 200
if you are on budget, go for the starters and italian pastas the price very reasonable

Just came back from The Curve today. During dinner time Me'Nate was packed but other Restaurants was near empty. Owh, except McDonalds :)
McDonald's is B40 friendly, while Menate is for "the brave"...

That's why you have to hear suggestions from the locals first guys. If the food didn't taste good, you went to the wrong restaurant. Malaysia and food berpisah tiada. We know the best food lol
Malaysian style of food is 'banjir' (slathering food with sauce or gravy). if u guys like street burgers but don't like 'banjir', remember to tell them hold the sauce/ketchup or u'll get mushy burger. ;) ( yeah i i know i'm late to the party)
Never try menate. But i love chili’s steak. I think its the best.
There is a steakhouse in KL called Jake’s Charbroil Steaks which my uncle from Germany really loves. He said the steak there is really good but it can also be really expensive as it is counted by weight. I’m not a steak person, so I’ve only tried their chicken dish. Give it a try when you are back here again :)
This, one of the best, if not the best. Quite expensive but well worth it.
Jake's is one of the oldest steakhse in KL. my 1st visit was back in '96. last visit before the pandemic. IMO, menate has the better steak.
I agree, so far western style wagyu is the best at jakes. Well crusted, juicy, tender. But one steak can cost u like 300 ringgit at least lol. Worth it
