@@atansapian4099 Great attitude mate! Tbh I thought that it was season now since we found them everywhere within the last three weeks. Usually we stay in Thailand in December but then you have to drive quite far to get some. Just for personal interest, may I ask when Durian officially have season?
@@DJMellowDee its durian season now in parts of peninsular Malaysia. its still early though. probably in two weeks' time the best will be coming out. and enjoy for the next two weeks. after that the last fruits are just normal. even better make sure the durian you buy is picked in the morning of that day. after that period it loses its wow factor a bit but still good if its off season
Most malaysian eat it without gloves so we can lick our fingers and not wasting any thing. Thats how we appreciate the king of fruits. Fun fact: Durian also eaten by the tigers in the wild, deep in our jungle. Amazing isn't?
Definitely the best to eat native durians here cos this local types is straight down from the trees whereas others is flown air frozen to other parts of the world.👍
For those trying durian for the first time, always have them fresh. The fresher the better. Fresh durian flesh is warm to touch. If it's cold it's old. If it's sweating it's old. Old durian has stronger off-putting smell. Also fermented durian is an acquired taste.
Tips for first timer - eat fresh durians like this. Don’t get the frozen ones. Although there’s nothing wrong with the frozen ones, but eating fresh you’ll immediately know if you like it or you don’t. When you eat frozen durians you don’t know if the fruits are still in good condition.
"although there's nothing wrong with the frozen ones" As a durian lover, it's wrong to put durian in the freezer or refrigerator. Once it chilled or frozen, it won't taste as good as the fresh ones.
Durian lose its sweetness when frozen. Durian also not as sweet when you pluck it before its ripen. These 2 factors are the main reason why Malaysia will never be as big as Thailand as durian exporter. We believe to truly enjoy durian, you have to have it as fresh as possible.
@@manalittlesis I think the taste is very subjective. I try not to dwell on that too much. Because there are some durian lovers who prefer cold durians rather than fresh/warm ones. Furthermore, the freeze-dried technology we have now preserves the taste better than the normal freezing. Only in the last 10 years, durians that are exported are mostly freeze-dried to ensure longer shelf life and to maintain freshness. We are lucky to have fresh durians available all year long, but this is not the case for everyone outside the tropics.
@@roughmzin2510 properly selected, properly frozen, stored and flown over durians are still better than the way durian was exported out 10 years ago.
