    People keep complaining about feminist ads everywhere. Maybe if there was less sexism around, there wouldn't be the need to advocate feminism so much

      +Murat Öner Well there are plenty of men on UA-cam, who act as if these commercials/ videos are an affront to them and a way to keep them down.They always whine and gripe about how oppressed they are and how women just don't know. I am glad that you are not another one of those self pitying fools. This by the by was the opposite of oh pity me it was more of an I don't give a F*&^ what society projects on to me. No one one this video was asking for pity. Personally When ever I walk into the cage at the gym with my little silver bag and whip out the black boxing gloves (as an over weight female) I get plenty of strange looks. Personally I like bucking the stereotype and just kicked the crap out of the bag. ;) When people "play the victim" male or female I simply try to ignore, because there is no arguing. If it truly worthy of the word victim, then that is a different story.

    this is the best thing about your ads Dove...u always try to motivate women and girls like me who are suffering with low self esteem ,really get motivated by ur ads...I was always told that I was too skinny and I'm not having a curvy feminine body....but no this is my body and I won't let anybody else judge or comment on it...thanks a lot dove for helping me cope up with my depression...

Thank you Dove for creating these with such positive messages. It's sad that you guys are one of the Only out there helping women and girls find their voice and having a say. Silencing those that ever said 'we couldn't'. No one gets to decide but US.

      No one thinks feminism is a bad thing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fighting for equality in the correct arena. People just take issue with how 3rd wave feminism has taken hold of the feminist movement. The bad apples tend to outweigh peoples opinions on the whole group.

    • @pacificwhitesideddolphin6792
      @pacificwhitesideddolphin6792 8 років тому +1

      Couch Guy Yn I agree with your comment for the most part, but it's not exactly true - there are plenty of people who say feminism is a bad thing, who think that men and women are not equal, or that they're different in nature. Luckily, to the best of my knowledge, those people are for the most part in the minority - but that's not to say they don't exist.

    • @AAJillSandwich
      @AAJillSandwich 8 років тому +1

      Why because these women vote for men who pass legislation on what they can or cannot do with there bodies?
      Because male doctors advice women not to live lifestyles that will damage there bodies?
      Because men in general just advocate there right to freedom of speech?
      Men can say whatever they want about women's bodies women do the same thing towards men.
      People don't like feminism because it's become a breeding ground for male hatred and general stupidity and anti human rights mentalities. Feminism is awful.

    • @CouchGuy19
      @CouchGuy19 8 років тому +2

      Hourglass Dolphin I can agree that there will always be people who are just completely against something, so it would be no surprise if someone was against equality. My point was that a majority of the people that dislike feminism don't dislike it because they think women shouldn't be equal. Those people are usually all for gender equality. Their issue, as well as mine, isn't with feminism itself, but rather what it has become. The terms "feminazi" and "3rd wave feminism" started in the early 1990's and that is when feminism started going down hill. Now days people look at the cause and only see the bad apples who make videos or speeches saying "kill all white cis gender males" while drinking from their coffee cups that say "male tears" on the side. The focus for a lot of people has moved away from gender equality and has turned into female superiority.

Just goes to show this is a great video/ad and I really love the message about being and truly feeling comfortable as you are, a woman, especially in this day and age. Because if not now, then when? Right? Totally right. Good women are empowering, as are good men, we just need to bring it to the forefront a little more often sometimes. To remind all of us. Nice ad.

      Well, I think it has to do more with the fact that women are criticized on their appearances much more often than men.

    • @pacificwhitesideddolphin6792
      @pacificwhitesideddolphin6792 8 років тому

      +Black Loops Seriously? How so? Well, if you haven't realized by now that women are pressured into being beautiful more then men, then you won't anytime soon. And this does mean a whole lot if you care about their feelings.
      Obviously, nobody is forced to answer to criticism. Nobody is forced into changing their looks. To add to that: nobody is forced to be in a certain religion, nobody is forced to get an education, nobody is forced to be healthy, nobody is forced to get married, nobody is forced to have children, nobody is forced to be kind, nobody is forced to talk, nobody is forced to act in any way that might be considered normal - they're socially pressured into it. And in some ways, that's even worse than forcing them to do anything.
      So please try to gain a broader perspective, for in the end you don't know what they've been through.
      Note: I'm sorry if this came off as a little mean - I need to follow my own words in being kinder, and I don't mean to hurt your feelings in any way, I'm sure you're a great person.

How is the message "Ladies, love yourself and believe in yourself" somehow declaring political affiliation? “An ad that pretends to be art is -- at absolute best -- like somebody who smiles warmly at you only because he wants something from you. This is dishonest, but what's sinister is the cumulative effect that such dishonesty has on us: since it offers a perfect facsimile or simulacrum of goodwill without goodwill's real spirit, it messes with our heads and eventually starts upping our defenses even in cases of genuine smiles and real art and true goodwill. It makes us feel confused and lonely and impotent and angry and scared. It causes despair.”

      Canned Bread I actually fell on this video because I like Dove's engagement video - I found that one beautiful, sweet, and empowering. Nothing felt stuffed down my throat in that one.
      And I have some issues with feminism's body positivity and self love movements and such. To be frank, I'm not the best at explaining it (Lauren Southern and Steven Crowder are much better versed at explaining things like this, I believe you should check them out) I guess my main issue is you can't make someone accept you. Either they do or they do not. You cannot make anyone feel anything. True, no one should treat you wrong based upon how you look, but you cannot make someone ELSE change their preferences just to suit your needs. You don't need the approval of others to love yourself.
      In fact, this video explains my point of view a bit better: ua-cam.com/video/IMBb4StJ4BY/v-deo.html ((Best part is 2:31 ))

    Triggered by the lawyer. - Little story from Holland. Here, we also see this kind of ads. And here, we have Inez Weski. Google her, if you will.
    She's a criminal lawyer who defies any and all stereotypes supposedly concocted by whoever "they" are supposed to be. She is at the absolute top of her game and universally respected by her peers and the public at large. She kicks ASS. Huge fan here.
    No WAY she would waste her time and energy to star in anything resembling this self-obsessed drivel. In fact, in a radio interview, she was asked about this: How did you navigate the glass ceiling, the old-boys network, the stereotypes you must have encountered? Her answer: "Don't know what you're talking about. Sure, people have their hangups and whatnot. But I wouldn't be worth squat if I cared about any of that. Can't be bothered. Too much work to do."
    That's how people - PEOPLE - earn respect. Not by moaning about trivialities and demanding "them" to abandon every one of their minutest perceptions to remove any hurdles you might or might not face, like you're some kind of entitled aristocrat.

      They start off the video with others' opinions about the women because it later shows that those opinions aren't true when it comes to loving yourself. Your beauty, your body, your say. I don't know exactly why Dove is leaning towards an ideology, as you said, but I'm not complaining about it. Even if this is just an ad to increase sales, it inspired many people out there - not only girls, but boys, too. Some people of all ages may be very sensitive when it comes to others' opinions, so even if they don't purchase Dove's products, I'm sure the company is happy just to inspire them.

      Probably to give all the others hope? To show them that people's opinions should not matter to them.
      Or am I wrong?

    See modern feminists? This is what you should be doing.
    Feminism isn't going against gender roles completely, it's supporting women for the lifestyle they wish to have.

    So inspiring , most of my friends are joining beauty pageant , while I did Karate and Aikido and now doing Muay thai and Brazilian jiu jitsu, but I still think I am beautiful :)

      Geraldine Butterfly You absolutely “say anything like that”. All you had to do was leave out the last part of the sentence and you would have been fine. But instead you put it out there and showed your true colors. You can call me a troll all you want but your cognitive dissonance exposed you. Do a search for “Kelly Osborne The View clean toilets”. You just did the exact same thing as she did. People always thinking bad thoughts? Yup. Just like you and Kelly Osborne.
