My current setup is 2 Technics 1200s with a Rane Seventy. I did purchase the Rane Four when it came out. I knew at that time that the platters were static however, I also knew that when Pio dropped their Rev 7, the Four would be the foundation for Rane's answer to the Rev 7 so, I sold the Four and went back to my 1200s waiting on the day that Rane would drop the Four but with motorized platters, it was inevitable given Rane's competitive nature. When I saw that Superbowl sneak peak on the gram, I was excited and thought it may come out towards the 4 quarter of this year. Low and behold, what was sitting in my notification section on the Tube, this review. I knew that Mojaxx would give us a fair and honest assessment of this equipment, like he always does. Cleveland Terry is another one that would give his honest assessment. I do appreciate the work they do for us with these reviews. I just purchased this and can't wait to dig in. Great review, Mojaxx, thank you for all you do.
I happen to have had a Rane 4 in transit due for delivery tomorrow. I immediately called the supplier and set up a swap after watching this. Glad I did!
Cheers for the video! I’ve had my Rane One since the first shipment to the UK arrived and I still absolutely love it, in fact I think it’s been the best DJ equipment investment I’ve made in years. I held off getting the Rane Four in the hope this would happen, as I love the motorised platters of the One and it looks like it’s been worth the wait.
I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I have the 4 with 2 12mk2’s and I love it but I’ve been waiting for spinning platters in a controller format with 4 channels.
Great video. I'm super happy to see this come out. I'm not really a spinning platter kind of guy, but the screens in the jogs have me seeing stars, and I really enjoy upfader play, so this may end up in my shopping cart.
Looks DOPE!! I've had the One for the last two years and its been a game changer. (Apart from some build quality issues). IMO all Rane needs now is to get their crossfader more competitive with Magvel bc thats whats stopping alot of battle DJs from using Rane steady. The cross fader is EVERYTHING and Magvel is a cheat code with how crispy it is for transforming. But Mag Four with the latest Serato updates is still definitely workable, its just in the era of DJs as Content Creators you cannot cede that advantage to Pioneer. Nice job Rane!!
Great review as always. Love my rane 4 the layout is what I love the most and dedicated stem buttons. If I had the chance I would love this controller to remind me of my vinyl days on my 1200 technics. I really need to setup my 1200 and bring out my vinyl collection. Thanks again
I miss having rane based just outside of Seattle when they drop new products. We use to see them out and about with the employees at their gigs before launches all the time.
I wish they make the Numark V7 version of these (with the pads of course) to get real 4 deck control.... or they make the mixer section as a stand alone to use with 4 of the PLX CRSS in the future.... you know its hard to do a real 4 deck mix with only 2 spinning platters.... yes I know there is inputs to make it happen.... but anyway.... would be a nice stuff....
At last, there it is. The rather big 'waiting gap' was curious indeed. Now imagine a Denon/Rane standalone hybrid with spinning 7" platters, that would be killer (and killer heavy, too)
Let’s see how long the motors hold up That’s the question I own a Rane 4 There was ground issues that I repaired myself ,yes I did and I blew the warranty out cause I did not want to send it back due to where I live I can say after that it’s been working like it should .
To be able to view your library on the jog wheel is amazing . Would have been nice to have a USB flash drive input the one can play from . That would have made it almost a stand alone controller as well. #LoveIt
You know when its been skinned rane aint getting it back🤣🤣🤣 gotta be the most rave review that. All your hardware too, must be a rare occurrence you end up keeping a device!! Might be the best controller on the market period. Intrested to see pioneers response!!
Really like this. Four channels, Rane's superior build/audio quality, vinyl emulation, track selection on LCDs (No OLED?). Everything does seem cramped in there though, makes the Rane One the more attractive controller in my opinion. However, I think they missed a trick with the hardware implementation of stems. I would have preferred the 3 EQ control of the stems to control drums, bass and melody. 4 vs 3 stem separation is the only thing that differentiates Serato from Djay Pro
What I would like (and what will never be released) is the device like this with motorised platters, 2 channels, effects section and no other buttons like pads etc. Just to load mp3s from usb stick and long blend them on the beach as if they were on vinyl.
i like the 4 but love the performer. have both and the rane one. kinda indifferent about switching but the spinning platters are what makes me actually enjoy the rane performer. seems to be the answer.
I will take my rane one coming in today it's hilarious he says the spindle is in the way when us old school guys see it as a part to use, you can can twist it to speed ip or nudge a bit in contrast it's also good to pinch if a full platter drag is too much and I don't need all those screens keep it simple snd more reliable
ME. I'M NOT MANY PEOPLE. My one massive complaint about the Rane One is the lack of onboard FX. This is the Rane I've been waiting for and I can't WAIT to run my vinyl through it and even perform on vinyl with it. JFC I think I'm in love.
Love it!!! I wish I'd waited a little while longer before purchasing my Rev 7, Sure I have other setups, Numark NS7iii,Technics 1210s & S11,Numark TTs & a literal museum of equipment! After watching this vid Im sold on the Rane Performer. Oh On a side note I love your Intimidator Blue Mixer. Still have one myself. Wow!! Takes me back!! Thank you for this in depth peak into this amazing piece of kit!!
Great video MJaxx! This video, along with CT's review are the first reviews that I watched to date! Been waiting for the Rane Performer vids to launch since the leak went viral. Thanks for this in-depth review!

Assuming you posted this before Serato dropped 3.1.5, a few hours after the launch of the hardware. They’re on New Zealand time which messes things up.
First: Have always been a fan to your reviews. Thx for that! Second: After more than 4 months teasing the Performer, it might be a choice to go with. Although it has been out there in the wild with so many guys testing it. My question, as the first DJ's telling, that Serato is not connecting: Which version was used to test it? As always for now nearly 40 years spinning on a pro level: Never change your running system too early. I have NOT been lucky with Macbook M1 / Serato / Numark NS7 III nore with the same set up and Rane One! Serato together with the M1 Chip has connection Issues! Will be resolved with the 3.2 as announced? The 3.1.4 announced PHASE connection solved if connected to Serato BEFORE connect to Mixer. It didn't! So: If you Guys... MoJax, Cleveleand Terry and so many more, tested it... Which Version you used?
Great machine ... Fantastic updates, too bad the platter waveform colors don't match the Serato software waveform colors when bass is removed, acapella, etc . And still no updates for the flagship Rane 72 ? ..
Fuckin amazing looking device. Shame theres no send return. I know im in the 1% of djs who use it tho. Not suprising when i havent seen one on a controller for like 10 years now! Would really like resonance and delay feedback on board too. Absolutley essential for Dub/reggae DJs
How is the headphone output? Sometimes when my house is sleeping I need to just mix/play through headphones.. PGM on the Rane One is low as hell.. Is it better on the Performer?
Interesting the faders can be easily accessed but what about the play / cue buttons. I've just spent 2 hours getting in to a MCX8000 with switch cleaner as they are buried under other boards and a hundred screws. Also In-Music's customer support is really dire which is also something to consider and never gets mentioned in reviews.
As an early adopter of the Rane Four then a few months later Rane drop the price by £300 in the UK, I felt we been mugged off. So Id never buy another Rane.
Not a huge fan of Rane products but i'm glad this exists! definitely some healthy competition here to keep everyone else on their toes... now i'm even more excited for the REV-9

SC7000Ms with those jogs would be awesome. I hope Denon DJ has not decided against separates (as the rumors suggest).
That's my dream waiting to happen. My Prime 4+ is waiting to be delivered today from a store I just purchased from over the weekend.

Line/phono inputs on channel 3 & 4?
Why not channels 1 & 4? Would make way more sense when adding external gear/turntables to each side.
In ‘Serato layout’ 3 and 4 are the two channels on the outside.
@Mojaxx ah I see. Used to separate hardware. Controller channel order from left to right is 3, 1, 2, 4.
OG V7 user, we've come so far since.
can i run ableton and serrato same time . does it have a in built soundcard

Can you change Mic FX to be Reverb? Instead of Echo
Not right now, but I know Rane are aware of that request. I suspect that’s why it’s called Mic FX not Mic Echo on the hardware label…

Possible to control Traktor with it?
Very unlikely. I don’t think Traktor has ever supported any spinning platter controller besides their own NI one.

No, they aren’t, suspect two OLEDs of that size would blow up the price too much.
