- It's time for some more Black Powder. My bother in law was visiting and fancied giving it a go having never played before. I've set up a simple game with two brigades a piece and tried to give him an idea of how a range of units work.
6 Turns only, French vs Britain and its allies - can the French retrieve their supplies and force the British back.

Im really pleased you have found the videos helpful, part of the goal of these was to show not only that they could be played on smaller tables but also to show the game because i think it's fantastic it. Still plenty more to come (hopefully that will show a French victory 😅)
@@7thson726 you know I never write praise unless it is deserved. You deserve it highly. I could never really figure out how BP or Hail Caesar was played. You laid it out so well. I’m a 15mm player so space is not an issue. 😉. Really you and your family are an awesome sight. Love what you are doing!

I am loving these battle reports... such a great time! I cant wait!!! The next couple of days ill be setting up my own table (getting it started anyway) and thursday ill be placing my order for some miniatures to get started painting!! Can't wait to rope my wife into these types games or even my daughter! 😂

Another beautiful board Martin and you always make it fun, even when (maybe especially when) the French are getting their arse handed to them. You were asking about leaving the troops on the table in formation without taking casualties off. Surprisingly, I like it alot when at first I had very negative feelings about it. I'm working towards enough casualties, so that I can actually leave them lay where they were killed or wounded. I know that's potentially alot of models to paint but what the hell, we've got to keep the Perrys in business and I'm willing to do my part. Keep up the fine work and I'll be looking forward to more great battles from the 7th Son.

You do the best battle reports for any game. I love your clear narration and explanations, and I learnt to play BP nearly completely just listening to you. Hope you've got more BP games lined up soon!

Great as always, thanks for making this awesome content. Forgot the ferocious charge for the dragoons which should have mauled that unit in line! Might have been a much shirter game though 😅

Awesome martin. Truly don't change your format for your battle reports .. the dice rolls give it a edge of suspense followed up by ... oh bugger ... every now and then ..lol.. please put some vids up of some more advanced moves (if you win this you can do this) ..sweeping advance is mentioned . Regarding Epic, its not something I'll be getting into.. Yet. I have to massive armies at 28mm and don't really want to re paint the same onea again. However when the Prussians come out i could be convinced to do a small army 😉
@@7thson726 I get that, I have been putting Napoleonics of due to already having a lot of 28mm games and wanted to go smaller mini's and larger battles so when I saw ACW I started hoping and planning. Vive L'Empereur!!!

A few queries if I may please?
1) where do you get the scenarios from, or do you create them?
2) where do your roads and objective markers come from?
3) Disorderly Retreat. Should the cavalry remain disordered for the next turn too?

Hello mate, thanks for the comment, to answer your questions :
1) alot is home made but the roads, hedges and treelines are from last valley terrain.
2) the objective markers are just made from a collection of random scatter terrain I've collected over the years.
3) yeah your spot on, fortunately though the charge didn't come off so the out come was the same 😁

@@malcolmy116 sorry i misread, thought it said scenery - i make alot of them up or base them on oarts of battlea I've read about. You can also adapt sce erios for other game systems 👍
Really fun battle, I thought for a brief moment the French might claim victory. But as usual the following turns dice rolls destroyed the french faster than an episode of Sharpe. Also the British started the game should the french not have finished it? Did you some how sell yourself out of a turn?
Haha cheers mate, tell me about it, i thought i had it in the bag but my left flank just crumbled 😅 nah the French had first turn, but all i got was a tiny bit of movement and a cannon shot 👍

It was definitely a battle that broke down into smaller engagements 👍 probably have to be one of her cousins, can't be ger dad, he was a soldier, he might bring actual tactics to the table 😅

I'm curious, I know that the British 95th used rifled muskets, units modelled on the Norwegian jaegers, and the French did not. Is that replicated in the rules? or is it just the same rule applied for all skirmish troops.
Its pretty much just a general rulw though the level of the Elite rule allows some difference, the 95th are Elite 3+ whereas the Voltigeurs are Elite 5+ 👍

I have tried it a couple of times, one went really well (as someone else was running it) but the one by me fell apart quite quickly 😂
@@7thson726 I experimented with a more Free-Kriegspiel, role-playing style, which went surprisingly well as no one had to look up anything and we barely even rolled dice. It wouldn't appeal to everyone, though. I followed your method of presentation, only via photographs rather than video.
What does he usually play ?
Bolt action, DMH and a few others. He's just working in a Saga force 👍
