That was a great game ... Lots of twists and turns ,the variable length turns worked well and added another dimension to the game .. More WotRs please 😊
Love all your battle reports, but the WotR are my absolute favourite. The timer worked really well for this scenario, and the fight for the village was awesome. Fantastic job guys.
I really appreciate that mate, thanks. I loved the way the fight developed and in a very believable way as the Lancastrians pushed across the board. Have plans for some more based on other parts of the battle, but also some good old pitched battles as well 😁
A very dynamic game. It’s great to see when the leaders of the opposing sides are in a great mood and determined, but at the same time positive and with a bit of irony. Great game, gentlemen. Looking forward to the continuation.
Thanks Leslie, glad you enjoyed it. I have a few more WOTR scenarios planned which will be cming. The Crusade campiagn 2nd phase is wrapping up and will be trying a few other things as well but i think there may be room for some Black powder as well
Nice, nice game. I've always admired your tabletops (especially your towns), and I think the new roads you're using are superb. And I like the addition of the clock--I'm going to try that with some of my games.
Cheers Graham, I was pleased with how it worked. I think next time we'll use 2D6 as standard and then if the general hasn't used his re roll for command then he can add or subtract a D6 for the roll 👍
My group is headed towards a WOTR campaign early next year. Your videos have been an incredible inspiration. Thank you! Where did you obtain the Somerset dice tray? I may get one for everyone!
That's awesome, thank you 👍 I think I got it on Etsy or eBay, it was a custom job, I just sent them the graphic. I think Geek Villain used to do custom dice trays, not sure if they still do but could be worth a look
Hi there 😁 really pleased to hear you liked it, and the table, I had a lot of fun putting this one together. The roads are a dirt mixture added and then brushed into position. I then line the sides with lichen. And other scatter to blend it in 👍 once done, I just sweep it back into the box 😁
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed watching it. The hills are made from towels that are rolled up and shaped under the cloth. The mat is from a company called Wargamer 👍
Thanks very much, yeah the Yorkists took some heavy loses at the start which hampered them a little bit there was a moment that I thought they had done enough to reverse fortune, sadly it wasn't to be 😁
Really excellent game & scenario. The wagons must've been pushing through some knee deep muck they went so slow but it did keep me on edge the whole way through. Regarding the roadway, the road planks you used to use, as most everyone else, really puts a dent in what can otherwise be really inspiring terrain. This loose grain dirt (?) is far superior in appearance. If you get a chance, could you tell me what you used & how you laid it down , and how well it cleaned up? Cheers.
Really pleased you enjoyed it, it was great fun to play. So the dirt roads are made from a mixture of earth 9thats been drie out in an oven then sieved), ground coffee (genuienly its just to get rid of the earthy smell), and scatter from my remaining tubs that are nearly empty (acts like weeds etc). I apply it with a spoon tracing out the area i want then use a soft brusy to move it about. once the game is done and its time to pack up i take all the other scenery off the table, brush as much as i can into a container and store it for another day. The rest i just shake off in the garden, and its done. Hope this helps.
@@7thson726 Thanks for all that. It looks like really good, black garden soil, lucky you. In my old gaming club, in a game store, we were using really nice (& not cheap) railroad terrain dirt, in the same way, except we had a task devoted "Super Sweeper", a hand held electric vacuum, to suck up all the remaining detritus. I'll have to think about a source of good, fine soil, that wouldn't attract vermin to the table overnight, since as a solo gamer I can rarely finish a game in one go. Thank you 👍 I do play NMTBH for smaller engagements and and for a change but I think it would be a very hard game to film, which is the only reason I haven't
@@levsharus5899 Thats a fair comment. So there are key differences between NMTBH and how it represents units and households. I like using NMTBH for smaller battles where models count as invidiuals, contributing to the attacks of the unit. Where as HC uses an abstraction that it doesn't matter how many models are in the unit, only the size of the unit on the battlefield (the frontage) if i were to extrapolate the forces that i was playing with here into NMTBH then i would likely have twice as many units on the battlefield. Also the mechanisims in NMTBH, while fun, make for awkward editing, ive tried it and wasn't happy with how the video was going so left it. NMTBH can be used for large gaems, i've seen it done, i just enjoy HC for those, personal taste i guess I think both systems have advantages and disadvantages, it just depends on what you are trying to depict on the table. I have thought of trying to refilm a game of NMTBH but i have alot of games palnned and its fitting it in :)

Great battle report and brilliant tables / figures as usual. One question, WotR related but not specific to this game. In your own WotR rule supplement, what’s the reason for choosing regular canon to be canon and not light canon? I’m guessing because WotR artillery was cumbersome, heavy and large calibre, not like the battalion style popguns that, AFAIK, WotR armies did not use? I know you like tinkering with the rules too to add interest but, unless you have one already, how about a particular canon or even having a Commander / Master of Guns who can only be used with cannons / guns, that’s his sole job. Give him a command rating of 7 to try and remove reload markers and maybe once per game or once per game per gun he can reduce the score to hit needed by -1? John Wode Master of Ordonnance perhaps, or John Judde. Maybe limit the amount of other named commanders (or at least their special rules) if taking a Master of Guns?
You hit the nail on the head. I was essentially trying to limit their usefulness. At least until the trained ordinance crews appear. Funnily enough I did tinker for a while with attachments for units, so master gunners, captains of archers/arms, surgeons etc that would act independently of divisional commanders and /or add certain rules. Maybe I should take another look 🤔👍
@@7thson726 Is your email still the same? I’ll send you the latest version of one I’ve just finished working on. I did mail one already but you may not have got round to the email yet. I’ve done one for 3 types of commander, each with a slightly different twist.
thanks for that, I took the spelling from the Fawkes map which was probably a mistake so thanks for pointing that out. As for the location, its a wargame and therefore you have to accept some abstraction, like 5 buildings representing a whole village or 16 men on 3 bases representing hundreds.
The game's rules and setting interests me, but too much footage is looking at the dice tray. Maybe put the rolls on a ticker or a corner, let's see more models more often.
Totally get where your coming from. Its something ive played about with before but it didn't really work. Also, for a ticker to work i would probably have to get another cameraso i could run it live at hte same time, otherwise i wuld have to film extra footage to fill in and im already editing 3.5 - 4hrs of game time :), i'll see if i can get some more footage of the armies and push in a bit on the summaries as we do them.
