I struggled for long time then Watched this video and was able to install under 10 mts. Missed couple of subtle points from the manual. Thanks for the video.
Hi Tank - Here to help! To get your lock in working order, please try the following steps: 1. Open the door and place the latch in the locked position. 2. Unscrew and remove the interior assembly of the lock. 3. Make sure that the Flat Blade spindle is in the vertical position and that the Turn-Piece is also in the vertical position. 4. Reattach the interior assembly while the latch is still extended (locked). 5. Replace the batteries and perform the Door Rehanding (Page 4, Step 15): kwik.st/3R8frr0 6. Test the lock with the door open. Thanks ~ Kwikset Social
When dial turned to right it clicked up but did not appear to have positive traction and appeared loose. Would not lock door with electric function. Key works perfect and very smooth. This is my second unit. I will return it as well unless kwikset has a recommendation. This is a right side lock
Hi and here to help! To set the lock's handing, install the lock as shown in the installation guide, replace the batteries and perform the Door Rehanding in Step 15: kwik.st/41nNWgx Thanks ~ Kwikset Social
Very helpful pretty comical I could not get the lock to go in the right direction even after we handling but the click of success did the trick thank you so much!😊
Ok.. everything for me was great until minute 2:18! The "bolt" was still protruding (locked position) and you were going to give the "ring" away. Then at 2:19 you are on the other side of the door ready to show us how to install the inside piece...but...now the bolt is no longer protruding and in the unlocked position!!! How did it get there??? Is it alright to use the key to set it to this position before installing the electronic piece??
Hi David - Here to help! Yes, you can use the key to lock the deadbolt latch and then remove the key from the cylinder. The latch must be in the locked position before installing the interior assembly of the lock. Please see Section 4 of the Installation Guide linked here: kwik.st/41eSjKF Thanks ~ Kwikset Social
My husband and I finally got it to work. Following instructions to factory reset step 16, then 15, then 6 worked to get the code set. But the latch would not open when using only code .. it would only open using code if the key was inserted (weird) .. .. So we started all over and reinstalled…checked that the latch was centered and that the flat blade hole was horizontal... Reinstalled the mounting plate and made sure screws where not too tight... also, made sure the latch assembly was cleaned of any wood debris which ours had a few very small pieces inside the latch assembly... after reinstalling the batteries we did not have to reset the code that we set earlier and the latch is finally working perfectly without the key having to be in the lock. Took our two (tiny) brains and all the helpful comments on this post to be successful. Thank you everyone for your help!! 😅
Great tutorial. I did see one curve ball. At about 2:30 The thin lock bar goes from horizontal to vertical and the door lock is now extended out. He forgets to mention this small detail. Still a great video.
How do I change the side my door opens on? Currently, my door opens from the right side toward the inside. When I use it this way, the lock is difficult to turn on and off.
Hi @rahimdobani - Here are the steps to fix this: 1. Open the door and place the latch in the locked position. 2. Remove the interior assembly of the lock. 3. Check that the flat blade piece is in the vertical position. See Section 4-B. 4. And ensure that the turn-piece is also in vertical position when reinstalling the interior assembly. 5. Perform the Door Rehanding process in Step 15. kwiksetprodstorage.blob.core.windows.net/documents/kw_ig_5053732_9250.pdf Thanks ~ Kwikset Social
After 3 hours of installing and re-installing, still not having any luck. I've followed ever single step carefully, made sure everything is perfectly aligned and the bolt moves freely. But the thing still won't program. At one point, I had the code working but it was the opposite of what it should be. So I used the door rehanding code. That failed. So I did a factory reset and can't get past programming a code. Might be time to return it to the store. Ugh. So frustrating.

With mine the little flat key that goes through the deadbolt in the center isn't connected and it won't twist do I have to just glue it in there or how do I get it to stay
After putting in the user-code, mine ejects and retracts the bolt then acts... broken I guess? It doesn't seem to want any following key inputs. And the whole thing doesn't even flash power etc unless the key is in the lock? Sometimes it tries to continuously eject the bolt and just sounds like popping.

Hi Digital in Daniel, did you ever get this to work?? I tried the "reply" from kwikset, but it still doesn't work and is doing exactly what you described... just keeps "popping" and when I try to turn the deadbolt back to retract, it won't let me and keeps extending it out. So frustrating. Any help is appreciated:) :) Thanks!

After installing it, it worked. Then decided to calibrate and now it’s not working. Called 800 number and she was not helpful. At least put someone that knows what they are talking about instead of reading a script. Why do I need to replace brand new batteries? Why does it fail after trying to calibrate? She said I need to return to store as the motor sounds sluggish on the phone. I know it has to be software issue and not mechanical. Brand new and a bad motor? Returning this one and getting different brand.

I FIGURED IT OUT! The whole process is fine, good info, thanks. The “problem” is, as always, user/operator error. The interior bolt knob, is SIDDED. If you try and install and setup as video suggests with the “6” in the “12” position, it doesn’t work…. Disassemble the interior part, Flip the interior knob so 12 is at 12, and then redo the 1-kwikset button to program your code. All I can saw is, the interior knob, has a small raised part, that is the “arrow” or “up” position. If you have the flush part of the knob, that’s the wrong direction…. It’s upside down. If you look closely, you’ll see, on side of the knob is flush with the mount, the other side is elevated slightly, about 1/2 a cm…. That’s the pointer or “12” on a clock face. The proper “up” position. I struggled like everyone here… and it Worked for me! Also, when he says “have the bar horizontal…. That’s when the exterior is mounted, but to “extend the deadbolt” that flap, is then VERTICAL when you attach the interior faceplate.

But the latch would not open when using only code .. it would only open using code if the key was inserted (weird) ..
.. So we started all over and
reinstalled…checked that the latch was centered and that the flat blade hole was horizontal... 😅
We're thrilled to hear your lock is in great working order! Thanks for the update.😃
Hi @rahimdobani - Here are the steps to fix this:

So what if my door is locked and battary died out?
Hi Rafsan - Here to help! The Powerbolt 250 includes a key cylinder in order for you to use the physical key if the batteries lose power.
With mine the little flat key that goes through the deadbolt in the center isn't connected and it won't twist do I have to just glue it in there or how do I get it to stay
Great video! He should have noted the deadbolt has an arrow that points up. Took me an hour to figure that part out.

That’s when the exterior is mounted, but to “extend the deadbolt” that flap, is then VERTICAL when you attach the interior faceplate.
very funny and helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Perform the Factory Reset and the Door Rehanding process in steps 16 & 15:
