Great vid. When I take strike plates off, I caulk and paint the rough wood in the jam recess. A little fix on a detail that's often left shabby: my clients dig the attention to detail.
Clear and understanding instruments. Having said that nowing my luck it would take me half a day to remove the old deadlock and install a new one😂 Thanks for the video.
Thank you for making this video! It made this task much easier than I expected. I did it myself using your video and part of the printed instructions (different lock) and it worked out perfectly! ❤
I had a house fire and I'm just about ready to move into the new house :) I'm also several months out of a decade long relationship( I'm single enough that my weeds have grown taller than me, But I'm short if that's any constellation LOL) My goal is to learn how to use basic power tools as I have so many projects that NEED doing...(I own a sizable flock of chickens) And honestly I'm finding only time heals wounds, so I might as well be productive AND proud of myself 😅 Thank you for all the great tips so far!
For those screws that hold both halves of the lock together, I like to use the Klein offset screwdriver from my electrical tool bag. It is so quick and saves my wrist.
QUESTION: I have a couple of crazy good quality Dewalt drills, a saw with a straight blade I haven't even looked at yet, and other random tools... If you were to choose a multi-purpose tool, For small projects, i.e. Cutting wood and pvc, furniture refinishing, An exhaust fan in my chicken coop, etc. Which one might you choose? I'm dealing with some autoimmune stuff right now so I'm not the strongest girl, When holding a power tool for a long time... But you should see me pick up 50 pound bags of anything like a boss!😂
I used the Level Bolt deadbolt, I didn't want a big, ugly keypad on the door . it just replaces the inside bits of the door. lock I m very happy with it
Step0: Start by checking that LockpickingLawyer have not done a video on how terribly insecure the electronic deadbolt you are considering installing is.
I have the kwikset keyless DB on all my doors (Honestly it was the best thing I ever did) But I also have giant black Russ¡an terriers, nobody wants to come in here! Lol
Another problem can be the hole in door isn't the right diameter. My metal door is 25 years old and has a 2 or 2 1/16 hole, newer ones use a larger hole, so some electronic door locks don't fit. Yes i could make it larger, but that is a pain too. And remember to keep a key somewhere, in case it loses power for various unforeseen reasons.
Another good video. But expensive locks are pretty much a waste of money. Burglars just walk up to a house, kick a door in, run in, go to bedrooms, take anything that looks expensive and easy to carry, then walk out. Usually before the alarm company has even gotten around to calling the police. Locks are irrelevant to them. A door is only as secure as the wood around a lock. They do it in the middle of the day and it's amazing how few are ever seen by neighbors or passerbys. And 95% of home owners enter and leave their homes through their garages. Front doors are rarely used these days except by guests.
@@TheFunnyCarpenter Nope we are not allowed to protect our selves in any way at all. Its illegal to hunt with a bow under any circumstance. Shot guns are ok for the rich and famouse. But strangly the system works.
Yeah.... But I did all that and it is IMPOSSIBLE to program.. There are no colored lights that happen... No sounds.... Nothing... Nada.... Took it brand new out of the box.... Batteries r new... Followed the directions.... But not accepting any codes.... Opened another box of new lock.... Connected it all with proper diligence... Did programming or lights work on second brand new lock from Amazon??? Nope. Nada
Thanks for the video. I loved the evenly matched assortment of AA batteries. lol!!
I was thinking - What condition are they in and, did anyone in the family notice one or more of the remotes stopped working...
It only slightly infuriated me 😅

I upgraded all my electronic bolts to good old bowleys last year and never looked back. Great video as always!
I see I don't have to tell you, but I will anyway - *Smart Move!*
This is a fantastic tutorial/summary. Installed my lock within a few minutes thanks to all your tips!
Your videos are my ‘To Do’ list I didn’t know I needed to do. Guess I’ll be changing my locks today!

Love the random selection of AA batteries

I’m sorry to hear that! the dewalt multi tool is great. My personal favourite is the Milwaukee M12 Multitool.

weiser or schlage for deadbolt?
Can you recommend a countersink drill bit set? I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place to ask this question, but I couldn't find any other way.
Damn it! I managed to screw my sleeve to the door and can’t move. Please send beer.
@weekendwarrior3420 just send beer … I’ll be ok!

Hi pal, thanks for the video! You need to make a tutorial on how to trim your beard, it looks awesome!
I thank you so much big time you the man
we have a low hieght door frame and always hit head top there , is there any way we put something to prevent hitting head .
The orientation of the manual latch for the deadbolt ends up backwards. Normally horizontal is locked and vertical is unlocked. How to fix this?
But how do I take it off and replace it with a new brinks electronic keypad?
Thank you

is weiser crappy brand?
@@randomrazr Idk if it's 'crappy' they make a lot of different door security locks in North America. Are probably worse brands out there.
@@gnic76 schlaghe supeerior?
@@randomrazr I prefer Schlager over Weiser. But that is my personal preference.
Thank you so much ,!
👍👍👍.Thank you
Why do you use such small screws to secure the deadbolt? Watched further: never mind! Shoulda known you’d use bigger screws.
Ya 2-1/2" is as small as I'd go.
Cool, thx
Thanks for watching🍻
Cool.

I prefer to have a keyed lock on the inside of a glazed door, but then again Im not allowed to own a gun so my bad:)

Well that’s a real kick in the nuts!

Did you figure out what was going on? Mine seems to not be realizing which side it’s supposed to lock on. It always “locks” to the left not the right.
