This has got to be one of the best DIY's I have seen not only for how good it looks but for the fact you took your time and actually explained it rather then doing the million mile an hour time laps that turns into the person just showing off.
I know it is a lot to ask but do you think you will ever do a star wars trooper armor build? I can't find a single one that takes their time to show how each piece is made.

Hello, thank your for watching, and for the nice comment. Unfortunately, I do not have the equipment or know-how to cast armor. If you are interested in Stormtrooper armor, I suggest checking out whitearmor.net or anovos.com Almost all of us Stormtroopers purchase armor kits from vendors on whitearmor.net or anovos.com Hope this helps :-) Whitearmor.net is the authority on Stormtrooper armor. If you are interested, join the forums, look around, and ask questions. That is where we all start our path down the dark side.

Sadly too expensive. I was hoping there was a way to do it by heating and shaping white plastic. I thank you for your help though. Still great video's.
Will you do more of the gun props out of wood in the future?

I'm working on Boba Fett's Empire Strikes Back EE-3 blaster now. It will have some wood components, and PVC. It won't be an economy priced model, I am going for realism on this one :-)

A simple way to make armour is to heat an eva foam floor mat (About $5 at a home store) with a heat gun, and bend it into shape. EVA foam takes to spray paint very well, and the correct paint can give it a plastic look while retaining the flexibility of foam. Hope this helped.

I've come to feel that building something, weather it be a prop or a house, is always better than buying if done right. Much better to have a conversation about something you built by hand and know the ins-and-outs of, every screw and contour than to say: here's this thing I bought

    • @crimsonshade912
      @crimsonshade912 5 років тому

Which one? The one seen in Star Wars Battlefront (2016) or in the movies?
(The A280 is based off of an M4 platform and the A280c is based off the Sturmgewehr 44. DICE named the A280c (STG) from their "Star Wars: Battlefront" the A280. They almost had it correct but were off by one letter.)
(Also, the A280c is very similar to its counterpart, the A295. (Same base weapon, the STG 44.))

I'm building a Cassian Andor blaster, and I layered wood cut pieces out with a dremel cutting router attachment just like that, and went back in with the sanding bit to grind it down to the lines. I'm glad other people have had success with that technique as well!

Can confirm, a 1/2 inch forstner bit works great for making the barrel holes. Made pilot holes with a small drill bit first and then hit it with the forstner bit. The leftover bits can easily be scraped away with an exacto blade.

This was MAGNIFICENT! I loved how all of the screws were identified by number, measurements and types of hardware and building materials were precisely listed, etc.! And the results are AWESOME!
I had to laugh at the mouthwash cap; I often look at objects in the trash and recycling and contemplate how they could be "repurposed" (the psychological term for that characteristic is apparently called "low latent inhibition")! ;-)

By the Trandoshan Bounty Hunter known as Bosskk. Only, the Concussion
Rifle had a stock more like a Shotgun Stock, but it had a Blaster Barrel like
    the one you built.

How to make original trilogy props:
Take WW2 or Cold War weapons, remove ammunition, duct-tape on a scope, give it some kind of crazy gibberish name.
(seriously, most of the blasters were just real vintage weapons they slightly modified, some of them weren't even modified like the rifle the Jawas used, it was just a cut-down SMLE with a grenade launcher, something you just as easily could have seen in the trenches of WW1.)

Hi there, awesome build! My issue is with printing the templates as described. I’ve bought 1 & 1/4 pvc pipe 32mm, but the barrel template is printing too big, the holes don’t line up and that’s printing via pdf in poster actual size? Taped together, the outer barrel template is 19 inch long which I think is right? My confusion increases as the printed greeblies showing sizes in mm are actually printing exactly to size, but the circular end template is about 50mm dia instead of about 32mm and that’s on the same sheet? Any advice would be appreciated.

hi there Happy... I started on making this but the outer barrel template (with the holes) don't match up when I wrap it around the 1.25" pipe. I printed in poster option... any thoughts, or am I missing something?.. Edit: I just tried a piece of 1.5" pipe and it's almost a perfect fit.. could the diameter of the pipe be wrong?
    Edit:
ok, I may have sorted it. I reprinted in Poster Option but made the Tile Scale 83% instead of 100%.. this is now perfect for the 1.25" pipe.

GREAT looking build as always. I'd love to see a build like this for a normal BlasTech E-11 built this way (with wood and PVC) rather than based of the Rubies prop. The plastic conversions just never feel right to me.

Needs a trigger. But using the cone bit as a countersink on PVC is brilliant.
