More than a year later, I keep coming back to this video. The first video I saw on this channel. Just love the starting, and the way all the different bits are all tied in together.
It was used in a commercial for a car... I was listening to his music while I was stuck in hospital and I could hear it playing, and I thought that's weird I thought I turned it off, then I realised it was coming from the TV in an advertisement for a vehicle
It's actually insane how much Charles has levelled up in every aspect (playing, composition, production, tone, video editing, on screen charisma, etc.) since posting this video. When this video first came out I was mindblown, but now Charles releases stuff that blows this out of the water every single week.
He's obviously extremely smart and extremely hard working. Like, it's one thing to play your guitar for 12 hours a day, there have been world-renowned talents every decade who do just that. But to do what he does with everything all-in is truly unique.
Technical skill is only one part of music.....but it's a part that I love. I just have the utmost appreciation for those with MASSIVE technical skill. Which aside from the comedy is why I really liked Davie's channel. It wasn't just "a bass channel". Davie is a REALLY good bassist. But Charles.....you are on a different planet. You deserve every accolade here. I'm a pretty good bassist, but I'm not in either of your zip codes....I also appreciate the humbleness of both of you. There's the schtick ego but underneath both of you just stand on your massive talents and the JOY you apply to your art is so awesome. It just makes it so fun to watch. Huge props to you dude.

when i was growing up ( long time ago ) im 53 now , i started playing bass and my idol was stanley clarke , it used to blow my mind how he got the sounds and played such killer chords , and his finger and plucking skills were at the time mind blowing to me , but watching you is just next level , im just fixated on your techniques , just amazing ..

When I watched it a second time I understood the meaning of the topics with timers, realizing you incorporated Davie504's hardest riff, your riff and then a personal solo. Not an easy task, not only from a player's point of view, but from a composer's point of view. Awesome job!

When I watched it a second time I understood the meaning of the topics with timers, realizing you incorporated Davie504's hardest riff, your riff and then a personal solo. Not an easy task, not only from a player's point of view, but from a composer's point of view. Awesome job!

Davie504 isn't the best bassist on youtube and never has been. He has such a following because he's hilarious, not because of his skills (not to undermine his skills in any way, he's better than I and most people can ever hope to be. But that's not what makes him such a good youtuber).
