Not the drive shaft. It’s your axel. If it were the drive shaft you would get a loud clinking noise when (usually) downshifting or going from park into reverse. You would have hard shifting if not driven delicately. This is cause by a bad U joint (part of the drive shaft). And a much more costly repair.
I have that exact sound on my 2002 Ipsum, and the other thing is that when you putting the car in drive or reverse it produces a loud click sound tried changing the spider bearings still the sound didn't stop need help what do I do....?
@@tjtv7260 If it's already clicking it's trashed and will need to be fully replaced. In which case you are welcome to drive it as it will only destroy the already damaged cv joint further. Most components of the suspension will be dangerous or cause damage elsewhere in the system when driven on damaged. But the CV joint really has no where to go, it will not snap off or seize up. The clicking will just get worse. Worst that can happen is it stops supplying power to the wheel. And it would really only fully break like that on a sharp, presumably low speed turn, and you would just roll to the side of the road and get a tow truck. But you will feel major shaking in the wheel before that happens. Clicking joints can last incredibly long amounts of time!
I get the tick, and warble chirp every time I stop and take off, so it’s not constant. Turning right also does it, but not turning left. I’ve got understeer turning right, when I brake it pulls the car to the right. Backing up with the wheels turned to the right makes a metal to metal groan, sounds like it’s saying “huh?” Can’t figure out if it’s the cv or wheel bearing/hub. I’m kind of freaked out because neither is safe and been doing this since forever when we bought the car. Vibration in the steering wheel and feels like the tire is slipping. One day I was giving it gas and acted like it wasn’t really going anywhere, like a trans slip.
@ I traded my Honda accord in for a v6 dodge charger I didn’t trust it it was nice but I did not trust it all black rims and it was white basic car with no options went and got something better you probably should try trading it
You should mention the car brand and year everytime you write a comment my was a 08 toyota highlander and noise was gone after CV axles were replaced a year after vibrating hubs were replaced too
They are not called CV axles. It’s a drive shaft. All front wheel drive driveshaft’s have an inner and outer CV joint. One end goes into the transaxle and the other end runs through the wheel hub assembly.
Sorry but what ur describing is a CV axle not a drive shaft. Drive shaft use universal joints to connect to eachother while cv axles use cv joints. Front wheel drive vehicle that utilizes transaxles to convert torque into motion have CV axles.
Pretty sure this is whats wrong with mine!!! It only does this after i park anywhere with incline/decline and went i go over a speed bump it only appears for a a minute then goes away im definitely asking the mechanic to check the cv joint/axle this morning!
Yea me to I drove my car for a little over 5 years hearing that noise and it just broke last week ! Never knew what the noise was or where was coming from 😅
This hitting iron, am feeling to my etious, can you post the part here for us to see exactly what needs to be replaced , please it's bothering me so much.
Did you ever figure out the issue? I never had any issues than told my cv axle needed replaced. Once it was replaced it began doing this exact sound when I turn or excel from a red light or going up a hill. I've now replaced it 3 times and its still making this sound.
What about a similar noise only when light acceleration between 20 to 25 mph. Noise stops when accelerating harder, and when braking with both brakes and/or engine?
Yeah I have a similar issue where if I accelerate to the left it kinda vibrates/rattles for maybe .5 seconds. That's it. Slow acceleration makes no noise. Boot looks good. Car is old with 160k on it though.
Man my car was making that same noise for like 5 years and I thought it was something minor lol but just last week it broke in the driveway the front cv axel !
hi, I have an Audi A3 2005 1.9, I hear a "cla cla" when I release the accelerator pedal, the joints are new, the ones on the gearbox side are also new, what can I check?
It can finish breaking and leave you on the side of the road. Sudden loss of acceleration. Mine was poping none spot though before it stopped popping and I lose motion
@Jbell440 Good morning my brother Yes I find the problem The problem is axel you should change the axel right and left ... the sound will go to hell 😂😚
What if it makes that same noise continuously? Even if i drive straight, turn left or right, accelerate, decelerate... it get a continuous clocking sound. (I replaced struts and lower control arms/ balljoints.) (I replaced driver and passenger side) The driverside only makes the clocking sound....
I got a 2002 ram 1500 a few months ago, long story short, went through brakes, tie rod ends, drive shaft, u joints, than once I changed my cv axles the shaking that started at 55-60+ didn’t start to shake until 80, so I changed the inner shafts the following weekend and vibrations and shakes all gone 🤩

Change the CV axles and inner shafts on both sides and if you still have a slight vibration with no shaking its your hub assembly’s 👉

wheel bearing?
Just had the same sound coming from my vehicle started off sounding exactly the same and progressively got worse it was the wheel bearing
I changed my cv axles and now I hear this nose constantly. As the wheel turns it makes that cranking sound

I hate to be the one to ask but I have a serious question: how was this camera mounted?
Was this on a model T Ford ?
Thank you this is what has been bothering me for the last 3-4 year with stupid mechanics that don't even know what is making the noise.

I thougjt cv axles and shaft is same!
Are they different?
Got 2014 Toyota Camry that’s starting to make this kinda noise I figure it was ball joints or sway bar could be bad axel as well don’t really know yet
Hey did you ever figure out that sound coming from your camry? I have the same sound on my 2014 camry as well
It was wheel bearing

When did the cv axle become a driveshaft?
Drive shaft is the whole part
What what can be the noise is it coming from the engine or the transmission
are vibrations felt in the steering wheel as well?
Vibration at steering means the inner shaft is making the problem.
Not like that sound
