6:02 Learn more about how to get rid of stress naturally!
Let’s talk about how to reduce stress using ashwagandha.
Ashwagandha is an herb that has been around for a very long time and has minimal side effects.
Potential benefits of ashwagandha:
• It’s an incredible adaptogen (it helps you cope with stress and depression)
• It may help increase exercise performance
• It may help decrease cortisol
• It may help reduce fibroids
• It has anti-inflammatory properties
• It may help improve the immune system
• It supports cognitive function
• It may help lower blood sugar levels
It seems like natural alternatives are always attacked. Recently, there has been some fear around ashwagandha because, like other natural remedies, it’s not FDA-approved.
The committees that approve drugs have a lot of conflicts of interest. Many medications that are FDA-approved have a massive number of side effects, but people take them without hesitation.
You may find it beneficial to try ashwagandha and come off of it for a while to see how you feel. Ashwagandha is powerful for stress, but you may not need it after you change your lifestyle and get rid of stress. Natural remedies are great tools but aren’t meant to be taken for the rest of your life.

I do not trust FDA. So if they don’t approve, it wouldn’t bother me.
The fact that Dr Berg said it’s not meant to be taken for the rest of your life ... stop taking it, see how you feel, maybe your lifestyle has changed and you’ve reduced some stress in your life ...
This makes absolute sense!

I take SSRI ( DESVENLAFLAXINE) not recommended to take. Unless, the info I read is incorrect. Can you tell me if I can take Ashwaganda while on SSRI ( DESVENLAFAXINE)
Agree! Take it when you need it, then stop. The next time needed, the results will be effective once again.
I’m 33 years old, as growing up my mom said she never trusted doctors or believe them. As I got to my late 20’s I realized she wasn’t just crazy/ old mentality of thinking. Thank you for being brave enough to risk backlash for educating the masses.
Doctors are trustworthy and they have an immense knowledge.
The issue is that healthcare is a generalisation and more focused on symptoms than causes.
Unless you are rich and can afford a personal doctor or are lucky enough to get one of the few that goes above and beyond than they simply don't have the time or resources to delve deep into your history to work out the root cause which could take many hours and many tests.
For the most part they operate by a system where they may take some visual/physical cues, input the symptoms you have and the system computes the most common medication to treat those symptoms.
It works for most people and will often cure the underlying cause but some things are simply to complex and varied for that system to be adequate.
Some things like indigestion or chronic diarrhoea for example can be multifaceted and different between individuals with the exact same symptoms.
To narrow down the exact cause might take 10 hours of one on one appointments and a dozen tests - it's simply outside the practicality of most doctors to dedicate that much time to a single patient.
However I do wish they were more willing to allow patients to self diagnose and listen to what they think might be the issue and medicate accordingly.
It's very rare to find a doctor that is willing to ignore the system and genuinely consider the patients thoughts as an individual.

Right I am tired of doctors they have their purpose but I've been prescribed three different medications for high blood pressure. Doctors just keep giving me medication to lower the blood pressure which makes me want to lay on the couch all day what kind of life is that ? I have developed arterial sclerosis in the arteries leading to my kidneys, and after much desperation I found out about K2 D3 and magnesium and the ability to restore plasticity to my arteries no doctor wants to hear anything about anything they didn't learn in college which is pretty much everything. Physicians are too busy keeping everyone coming in who are healthy every 2 months to make sure they don't develop something instead of treating those who need help. So they're Band-Aids are pills chemicals, which are foreign to the body but make big Pharma so happy. This is what you get from the Healthcare System. Just my humble opinion
@@retsaMinnavoiGthe misconception is that these pharmaceutical drugs cure simply because they reduce symptoms & the patient may feel better temporarily but they do not! Aside from an antibiotic to cure an infection but for the most part these drugs do not cure.

Love the videos. As a pharmacist I’ve actually referred a few patients to your videos that have mentioned wanting to try natural alternatives (prefaced with check with your doctor). @@Drberg Could you please make a video about Phosphatidylserine, for stress?
When my grandmom was about 68. I told her that studies provided "evidence" that daily aspirin would reduce her risk of stroke. She was in fairly good health. She spoke to her doctor who put her on a daily regimen, which she adhered to for 16 yrs. At the age of 84, she was told her kidneys were badly damaged (by the use of the aspirin) and was taken off the aspirin. A few months later, I got wind of a study that said long term use of aspirin was no longer recommended.
It is to my eternal regret that I didn't leave her to manage her health with her traditional /natural remedies, now that I realise how many "studies" are funded by corporations that skew data to fit their narrative.
There is a reason that certain herbal remedies last beyond the few months or couple of years of a fad and have transcended generations for hundreds of years.
Forgive yourself
@@neelafung8787 thanks for your kind words.
FYI aspirin is just the concentrated form of a natural occurring herbal substance that was used in traditional medicine for thousands of years.
It absolutely does have benefits though and it potentially prolonged her life as well despite it eventually causing kidney damage which may have occurred anyway.
Although it seems it's regular use might be less positive in women and more positive in men.
It's the doctors that caused the problem, NOT you! We have been conditioned to rely too much on man! Not what God gave us... your grandma did live a good long life tho, because she took care of herself before that switch..

I couldn't agree more with everything said, and what the FDA approves i wouldn't trust. I bought some Ashwagandha a few months ago. I reacted badly to Anaesthetic years ago, developed physcial and mental health issues, literally damaged my body, still is and years later still finding a way to recover as the results has left me with ME/CFS but only discovered a couple of years ago what caused it. and i discovered it because of what happened over the last 3 years and certain interventions i stayed away from but saw the affects to others. It finally clicked. Ashwagandha is helping my low mood and blood sugar levels.
I started taking ashwagandha because I found that my blood sugar remains high whatever I do. Then I realised that this is because I feel stressed all the time. I started Ashwagandha 150 mg twice a day and my blood glucose is near normal. After two weeks I have taken a day off all supplements except B Complex today. From tomorrow I will reduce Ashwagandha dose to 150 mg at night.
It has definitely made me much calmer.

Bro Berg
What time of day did you take ashwagandha if you don't mind me asking? :)
@@AnneAlready I took it after ive had my dinner.
BUT hear me out. It depends on a few factors. Ashwagandha has both relaxing and stimulating properties so basically you have to try it out how it works for you. You don't want to disrupt your sleeping cycle too right. But I've felt it to get me to the relaxing mode so i consume it at night. One of the main property that ashwagandha does, is to reduce cortisol, and if thats the case we could consider taking it in the morning as cortisol is high after the waking up.
Next main thing to consider is what form of ashwagandha you're using. If its root powder (be it in tablet/capsule or just the powder itself) then you must consume it with some fat source like dairy, nuts, eggs etc....as most of the active compounds of ashwagandha are fat soluble. Best thing to do is to take it with a meal and forget it. Or you could consume it with milk(you can add some sugar or honey too)
Now if the form you are taking is an extract like ksm 66 (which i would prefer more) it doesn't matter you can just consume it at your convenience...but i would still take it with a meal.
I took it for 2 to 3 months, took a break for 1 or one and a half months.
I've used both root powder and the switched to Unived ksm 66 ashwagandha. I don't if its available at your place. Just get one from a reputable brand.
@@AnneAlready I took it after I've had my dinner. It kinda helps me relax.
Just make sure you consume it along with a fat source. It has both relaxing and stimulating properties so either you can take it in the morning too to reduce cortisol. Try how it works for you. I've also have to mention i take vit d3 1000iu in morning with breakfast and magnesium glycinate 650 or 1300mg after my dinner and still continue taking these two. I've stopped taking ashwagandha for now.
@@thetimewhack Thanks so much for that detail. I'll make sure to have some fat at the same time....haha just ran and got some.

I've tried Ashwagandha and let me tell you, it gave me anxiety and couldn't sleep at night.
Thats like saying i drank water and got thirsty. Try to consume in its raw and original form, buy the roots, get them powdered and one spoon daily. Stop i t after 2.5 months and meanwhile change your lifestyle so that you don’t get dependent on it.
@@shhunyaThank you for giving me a head’s up so I can start taking it!
@@shhunyathat's exactly how I did I bought the roots and powdered and after consuming 2.5 months the results were like @khaliando... don't know why but it was good in beginning but later on it started triggering stress and then I scared to took again
It has helped me tremendously
I highly recommend it
That's great. Thanks for your comment.
Hello Dr Berg, I love all your videos, I learn so much thanks to you, I am writing from London and I would like to kindly ask you whether it is safe to take Ashwagandha knowing that I have a fatty liver and had a cholecystectomy last year. When best to take the tablets? Also, is taking magnesium glycinate together be good ?Thanks to you I lost weight and I am feeling much better in myself. I also came out of certain medication such as omeprazole thanks to ACV. So a huge thank you for all your precious work.
Been taking Ashwagandha for months now. No side effects. I just take it at night and my sleep's definitely better on the days I take it!
