  • Most review and test are when the board are new, but how is a board after 3 years of use. I paddle around 300 times every year, so this board is well used.

    I've owned three Allstars, all in a 14' length starting with a 2021, 26", then a 2022, 24.5" and now, a recently acquired 2023, 26". The 2021 was very twitchy making for difficult primary stability, but with a well-defined secondary stability; in other words, it was not too tippy. But the twitchiness did make side chop performance tough on the legs. With the 2022 version, Starboard implied a 24.5" would closely approximate stability in the 2021, 26". So, I took them up on this "claim" and got a 24.5". I'll give Starboard this much; it was much less twitchy. But it was very tippy and side chop performance was the worst... race starts were abysmal. With the 2023 model, I acquired a 26" having become wary of Starboard's claims regarding stability. But low and behold, Starboard finally got it right! Side chop is not nearly the challenge I had experienced in their previous versions, it is a remarkable improvement. Stability is the best, too; it is not at all tippy. Average speed held the same in the 2023, 26" when compared to the 2022, 24.5", I was impressed! Kudos to Starboard on their 2023 Allstars!

    Great video and overview with a lot of interesting information about these boards! Nicely filmed, and also kind of cool to see the river flowing behind you with the occasional small piece of ice drifting by. Paddla lugnt!

    I saw the video, also very useful and interesting for passionate paddleI.
    I would like to buy this board too, in particular the model "ALL STAR AIRILINE DOWNWIND“.
    It is interesting to know that a weak point is the cone nose. I thought instead that there could be more problems for the central carbon center stringer and the tension cable.
    In 2017 I bought a Redpaddle "13.2 explorer".
    I used it until before covid. In 3 years I have traveled hundreds of kilometers at sea, in Italy. I had problems with the deck racks (they are unglued) with the inflation valve (it started to leak a little) and with the pump "TITAN I" (it broke, it is unusable) and the small fixed fins came unglued (using the board in the sea, along the coast, I also found them useless, indeed, annoying to keep the course). For the rest it was a beautiful table, which I still use. But today I would prefer this model of STARBOARD.

      I'm happy that you liked my video. Surprise to hear about the quality of red paddle! I started on a red paddle 12´6 sport 2016. Still have it. Only issue is deck pad started to stain our clothes after 5 years. So I took it off, not so good looking anymore but still good. I would have paddle a red paddle elite, if the board wasn't front heavy to carry. We have three all star airline, nose cone on everyone has some crack. The 2021 have best fitting of the nose cone. Nose cone is the only issue we have had on the board. We had a tiki pump that broke, you can search in my channel for pump, I have a big pump test I did last year and a video of the broken pump. Allstar Airline Downwind seems to be a great board, I have not used or seen it. I don't think you can be disappointed with that board.🤗

    Your a great ambassador for Starboard and how durable and the build quality these boards are. Please do another review after 6 years of use 🙂 My second hand Starboard is 6 years old and once I get it kitted out with a new leash, paddle and pump and finally get it on the water, I'll let you know my thoughts 🙂

      Thanks, I'm not an ambassador for Starboard, not on paper, just as it's clear, but I understand what you mean. If I have the board when it's 6 years old, I will do it! Problem is that my heart so often wants new things😥Yes I would love to hear your opinion and thoughts when you have been on the water!😍🤗

      @@danerik.westerlind Only joking on the ambassador bit 🙂As a newbie getting into paddleboarding on/off for the last 3 years, I cannot really afford a new board. That's why I chose as a starter for 10, to buy a secondhand one to practice and further my skills on. Maybe in a few years, I will upgrade to a newer more expensive one 🙂

    Intressant frågeställning, har inte ens funderat på hur många år man kan förvänta sig i livslängd på en bräda.

    • @danerik.westerlind
      @danerik.westerlind  11 місяців тому +1

      Det varierar på kvaliteten och hur de används och tas om hand. Dyrare brädor som våra Starboard räknar jag med över 10års livslängd.

    Hi great videos only stumbled across your channel researching the new 2023 airline range, do you think you may be tempted to consider the new sprint range, i am thinking the 14 x 29 would be great tourer .... 😊

      Hi, thanks, really appreciate it!🤗 I am really tempted to buy a sprint 14x27, I think that would be a great tourer for me, but I didn’t order on autumn 2022. I ordered a another board that I haven’t got yet. That will be a surprise when it comes.😊 Are you tempted to buy a sprint or all star?

    • @urbanmythfpv3121
      @urbanmythfpv3121 Рік тому +1

      @danerik.westerlind I was looking at the allstar at first to use as tourer and probably my go too. Then the sprint caught my eye , I am waiting for more reviews of the sprint in choppy water before I make a decision,
      I did look at the red voyager 13 but it's been mentioned people were disappointed with speed and unfortunately for me I like speed lol....
      I would like to try out sea gods keto but I think I would be in the water more than on the board lol

    • @danerik.westerlind
      @danerik.westerlind  Рік тому

      @@urbanmythfpv3121 when we bought our all star, there was no isup sprint. I have not tested sprint but board shape looks more tippy than all star. I was also in for a voyager, it’s more stable but slower, more resistant when paddling. If you paddle choppy water all star will be better and also voyager. Sea gods keto was first time I see now, was really beautiful, board shape looks little more tippy that all star, more towards sprint, but hard to tell without paddling the board. I hope you can try before you buy.

      @@hntrains2 it’s wast and light driven to paddle. For me 14x26 was no problem at all first time, went from 12’6x30. When I dropped to 14x24.5 from 14x26 it took me some paddles. For the moment my wife has the 24,5 and I 26, better for me when I film to be stable. So try before you buy is what I recommend.

    Great channel.
    If you were choosing one sup. Which one would you choose? 14/26 or 14/28. You used both. Tell me, is there much difference in stability and speed
