I agree it turned out really nice! I’m curious as to why you want to repaint it as it looks to be in really good condition?

Hi Todd. I'm guessing that you're asking about the bar stock engine? I agree that the paint looks really nice, but in my head, I can't stand when engines are painted "together" after assembly. I would rather see the gaskets between surfaces and a definite edge between assembled parts instead of a fillet of paint if that makes sense? Honestly it's just a personal thing for me, paint hides lots of flaws, if you have pride in your work the finish should show that too. As well as the mounting base as far as that goes. I'm sorry if this was a long winded reply but I genuinely do appreciate your question and your time watching my video. Thanks again, Matt

It would be cool to extend one of the flywheels with some fan blades to cool the core, then close off the base and add a vent stack to keep the heat away. If you really want to complicate it. Maybe this winter. Lol

It's funny that you mention the fan blade idea, I thought the same thing! The issue with the heat on the cool side is because heat rises and it's all one assembly, seems kind of counterintuitive to me, why not flip it upside down so the heat could escape instead of migrating up (where it shouldn't be) 🤔.. You're right though, this winter I think it would be a fun experimental project.

Hi, really enjoy watching your videos. I would be interested in buying the bar stock engine if you still have it.

Hi Gene, I still have it, but it's not quite "done" yet. I still want to fit the flywheels with grub screws and take a look into the steam chest, and valve rod packing. I want to be sure that the new owner will have a "tested and true" ready to run model. Honestly I don't even know what a fair asking price would be. I have had another viewer express an interest in it also, so I don't know how to figure this issue out yet. I don't like the E auction site so we'll come up with a better idea (maybe). I need check on how UA-cam views this kind of thing too. We'll figure it out. steamat212@Gmail.com

Mr. Doug, You are MAGNIFICENT! I would have never guessed that would be the reason for the markings on the displacer piston, but I think you've nailed it! You guys REALLY are great! I owe you one Doug, I couldn't figure out why there were no marks in the cylinder liner. steamat212@Gmail.com I'll get a shirt headed your way.

I still don't understand how they work by displacing air!

I have another hot air engine that will be on the bench soon for some reworking and repair. I would be happy to explain the process (to the best of my ability) if that's something that you'd be interested in watching? Thanks for the idea and watching 👍 this is one of the reasons that I think you guys are GREAT!
