  • This Economy engine has been in the shop for a while just waiting for some more attention. I made a base for it and fitted the ignition underneath, let's fire it up and see what else needs to be done to make this old girl a good running engine. This will give us a chance to look a bit deeper into its past and the way it was built. Thank you all for watching, commenting, and subscribing. You guy's are great!

If you need a set of drawings for that engine, let me know. I own several Tochtrop Economy kits

Most likely too much cylinder oil in the past. I'll bet just cleaning and freeing up the ring(s) is all that is needed to restore compression. Give the cylinder a hone too. Great video!

Bloody Hell ! I've never seen so much shit and corruption on a head and piston. Looking forward to the next installment. 👍🏻👍🏻😁😁

I'm impressed it ran with that compression! I'm not surprised that it didn't have enough power to miss lol

Mr 212, love to see this again and anticipate it running well. If it was me, I'd get the ignition much closer to TDC for maximum power at slowest rpm and therefore that single big hit before the nice long miss (spring permitting). Is this an ebay purchase? Would be expensive, what range?

In some parts of Canada schmoo is also known as schmegma.

nice engine, well worth the work to make it run again. Happy new year!

good day. this brings me back to an earlier question i had about the fuel used in these. after looking at the amount of carbon residuals on that head and the rings i had a thought related to an old memory. i remember a washing machine that my great grandmother had that she kept going for some reason known to her and her only (lived in the great depression). it was one of those two stroke units. my great grandfather mixed the fuel for it. 95 ~+ alcohol and regular mineral oil. supposedly to keep the 'gunk' down inside the engine. that memory goes back 55 years. i have to wonder if these little wonders would run on that kind of mixture.
