Congratulations on becoming a grandma! Thanks for watching and have fun making these bibs!
Jennifer, great project as usual. Plan on making one as baby gift to go along with receiving blankets. Also plan on super sizing for my husband of 53 years as he wears his meals well
Joyce Startt
I was thinking adult size too
My dad has Parkinson's
I might figure out how to make his more manly...... perhaps colar and a little more shirt like.
I need one for myself for in the car
When I eat on the go.
Maybe for the bathroom for Sunday morning makeup and tooth paste oops. It never fails
That when I'm rushing and dressed nice I spill or dribble
Also for adult size I think this would make a nice apron if bigger
That is such a good idea! Merry Christmas Cindy! 🎄~Leah
Great idea Joyce! Happy Holidays! ❄~Leah
Shabby Fabrics can we make an adult pattern? XL?
I have just seen this video. Don't know how I missed it when I watched so many other Shabby Fabrics videos. I was thinking that this would be nice made bigger for an art smock in grade school. Heck! Probably would work well for the higher grades too. Not sure how to enlarge it though. Maybe the 'Shabby Ladies' could do that for us?! Great video, explained so well. Never noticed that about the bias tape before, and I have actually sewn with bias tape! I guess I'll have to be more aware!
I've been looking for a pattern like this for a long time - thanks! Great video!
So happy you found us :) Thanks for watching!
I just made this bib for my grandson and it's ADORABLE. I will try attaching the bias tape with a different method on my next one. Thank you Jennifer!
So happy your bib turned out well, Mari-Ann! Thank you so much for watching and learning along with us - have fun on your next bib!
I love these bibs! how cute! will definitely be making one for my 3month old granddaughter.
What a wonderful gift! Thanks for watching and have fun!
Thank you so much for this video. I have a new granddaughter and the time to actually make these kinds of things. I can't wait to try it.
Congratulations! We are happy for you and hope to see photos! :) -Kyla
Loving the pattern!
Also for those of you with smaller bubs, I printed it off at 85% and it's the perfect size for my girl who is in 00-0 clothes :)
Thank you Lydia! These bibs are so cute! ~Leah
Needed a quick gift for tomorrow. Made this bib. Love it.
That's so great to hear! Happy you created this bib and love it :)
I'm going to try and make this tonight. It will be so nice to have a bib that fits my grandson. Thank you!
Have fun! This is a great bib :)
I made this bib for my granddaughter and just completed three more in vinyl per my daughter's request. Love this pattern so easy and great directions. I eliminated the second pocket but used two pieces of vinyl for actual bib.
We are so glad to hear you made this and love the result! Thank you so much for watching and sharing with us!
the bib is such a good idea it's cute. thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching! Happy you like the project :)

I just made this bib, it was so much fun, the first one I learn on so the second one I know where my mistakes were on first one. I love my Seam ripper. This was so much fun!
We love our seam ripper, too! So happy you are loving this project! Thanks for watching :)
My Grandmother always said, the BEST sewers use their seam rippers, cause bad sewers just leave the mistake. I have always remembered that, and think about it every time I frog a seam. So, it just means you are a good sewer!
Jolene Blecha , hi! I couldn't live without my seam ripper! 😎🌸
So easy! Great Tutorial! I am a beginner and now I have made quite a few! I chose to make it with waterproof material and did not make it reversible (I figured if one side is dirty, I'm not going to flip it over to use again, I'll just throw it to the wash..). Love this project! Thank you!
So glad you liked this project! It's so much fun! Love the changes you made to the bibs! They sound perfect.
Great idea, my youngest grandchild is 6mth old so this will becoming in very handy, better start making now. Thank you for sharing.
Getting started now is a great idea! Thanks for watching and have fun!
This is a great idea. Had purchased ones when mine where toddlers.😊
Thank you so much for watching!
I sew a strip of double fold bias tape to the top of the pockets to give some stiffness/support to the pocket so it stays open to catch food/crumbs. It takes a little more than two packages of bias tape for one bib but worth the extra support it gives. Love these bibs. I use a seam/overcast stitch to sew on the bias tape which makes it much easier to sew around the curves.
Great suggestions! Thank you very much for sharing. 💖 -Michelle
I love all your videos! You have such a great variety!
We love providing DIY, sewing, and quilting tutorials to everyone! Thanks for watching!
Did this today - never thought I would finish it in time since my friend's grand-daughter arrives tomorrow - but I figured better late than never... Except I AM DONE!!! It was way easier than I thought - even if it's the first time I use bias tape (I'm new at sewing )... Had to rip the seam in one spot where it curves... My seam had strayed away from the edge and caught the middle of the bias tape instead of the tip and I had not tucked the fabric far enough... But all is good - I'm really happy! THANK YOU!!!! :-))
Thank you for sharing Elizabeth! Merry Christmas! 🎄~Leah
I love your tutorials and thank you for sharing the patterns
Glad you enjoy these! Thanks for watching!! -Michelle
Thank you for this very nice bib pattern.
Thank you for watching! Happy to hear you like the tutorial!
I"m so glad I found this! A good bib is hard to find. I've been making myown from receiving blankets (that came in handy when the babes were teething) But we still have some, and they still wear them. but your bib looks more practical...now that my little ones are toddlers. thank you for the pattern and tutorial. :)
We're so glad this was helpful for you! They are so simple to make you'll find you have plenty soon. ;) Great idea to make your own from receiving blankets, too! Let us know how your project goes. - Morgan

This is sew cute. I will have to make a bunch!
So happy you like this project!!
I have made several of the receiving blankets and just LOVE them. I want to also make this bib as well. These are for my first craft fair in NOV. Was curious as to what to sell each of them for? Any suggestions?
Hi Margrit! We're so glad you love these and the bibs! :) You can certainly use our patterns/downloads to make and sell a finished product. Please give credit to Shabby Fabrics as appropriate. Please don't include a copy of the pattern or download in anything, or sell it as your own design (you can definitely point people in our direction if they'd like the pattern).
As far as pricing, only you know the cost/value of her time and materials. There are great resources online for pricing handmade goods. I'd Google "How to Price Handmade Items" (here are some of those search results: www.google.com/search?q=how+to+price+handmade+blankets&oq=how+to+price+handmade+blankets&aqs=chrome..69i57.5185j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8)
Hope that helps, please let us know if you have any other questions! We appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment, and wish you luck for your first craft fair! :) - Morgan
good project.....I have a similar pattern.....for a special gift....use warm and natural under mail bib pattern.....will absorb even more.....
It is a perfect gift! Merry Christmas! 🎄~Leah
This is great and I have lots of fat quarters. I will be putting this on a piecev of flexible plastic used for quilting templates
Wonderful idea!! Thanks so much for watching!! -Michelle
Love the bib I have a question about the letters i want to make them in upper case and lower case do I purchase them in the same size or larger for upper and. Smaller for lower and do they come in other colors?
Our laser shape alphabet letters only come in uppercase letters. ~Leah🙃
Great project for the little one and for elders too! I wanted to know if you are using waterproof PUL fabrics or 100% cotton? Thanks :)
Great idea to use this for elders, too! We are using 100% cotton flannel but you could absolutely use waterproof fabric or a waterproof layer in the middle!
AM TRYING TO LEARN HOW TO DO BABY BIBS SO THIS IS PERFECT ,I GOT ALOT OF FAT QUARTERS . THANK YOU
That's so great to hear! Thank you for watching and learning along with us :)
Fabulous
Thank you! Let us know if you give this a try! - Morgan
Thanks for much for the video tutorial. I bought the pattern, and the instructions are not really clear. The video made the bib project easy.
So happy you were able to follow along with the video to make the instructions a bit more clear!
I love this tutorial. I can see myself making them for my great grandchildren. I donate bibs for memory care units. I am wondering if the pattern can be enlarged to adult size. Have you considered enlarging for adult. I am wondering what percentage would have to be used.
These bibs are adorable! We have not enlarged the pattern for adults before so we do not know to what percentage it would need to be enlarged. We would love to hear what you come up with should you make them! Happy sewing! ~Leah
Can you tell me more about your bibs for memory care unit
When you buy your kits does the pattern come in the kit and does your fabric come cut and ready to sew.
The kit includes the flannel fabrics and bias tape, which are not cut to size. The pattern is available as a free download (link below) OR a full color pattern is available for purchase. If you are planning on making multiple bibs, we recommend purchasing the pattern since the paper will hold up better than standard printer paper.

Hi Jennifer! Love this bib and your UA-cam channel. Also, your fabrics are the BEST around!! Question: On this toddler bib, the extra wide bias tape what width is extra wide? 1/2”? 3/4”? 7/8”? I’d so appreciate your time to answer this. Thank You🌼 Thank You🌼
So glad you love the tutorials and the fabrics!
Thank you, Morgan!! Will do!!
Thanks for the adorable bib project! Love that you have them free! So appreciated! Love your channel! 💞
Thank you for watching! Merry Christmas Karen! 🎄~Leah
I don't know if I missed it or not but did you use flannel for the bibs?
We did use flannel! These are available as a full kits if you want the exact look of ours: bit.ly/UltimateToddlerBibKit
I just ran across this pattern and it looks fairly easy to make. I love to try it. Is there a recommended age or size child this fits on?
Glad you enjoyed it! These bibs are meant for toddlers, so any ages that range from 1 year to 4 years of age. - Yajaira
Love the bib. My only issue was rounding the corners at the bottom. Mine didn't come around as smooth as yours. This might be because I used cotton fabric and not flannel. I will definitely try this again, only I will use flannel next time. Thank you!
Round corners can be a tad tricky with any fabric! Happy to hear you made this project and will be making more :)

Thank you.xx
Thank you for watching! Stay safe! ~Leah
i love this. is it worth putting a waterproof fabric between the layers to stop spills going through to clothes?
I wondered that as well....or even an extra layer of flannel or thin fleece?
It's really up to you! We have found with toddlers that this works really well for crumbs and messy food but haven't tested liquid spills.
Wondering how a plain fabric can protect against wet food. You spoke of using fat quarters. Did you do anything to waterproof the fabric?
We did not do anything to waterproof the fabric. This is flannel so it protects a bit against light spills but you can absolutely waterproof it or use a waterproof fabric as a middle layer :)
Awesome video.... love the bibs, you should sell them I'd definitely buy them...
Thanks for watching!
If I order the kit does it come with fabric and pattern thread and bias tape?
The kit includes the fabrics and bias tape! If you'd like just the pattern you can buy that instead - it includes full color photo instructions and the template: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Ultimate-Toddler-Bib-Pattern-P51651.aspx
typo below.....use warm and natural batting under mail bib part....really great...
Thank you for the clarification! ~Leah🙃
Is this flannel material or cotton?
These are flannel, but you can use cotton fabrics, too. - Morgan
Do you add any fabric/batting/terrycloth between the layers for absorbency?
We didn't add an additional layer, but you could if you'd like! 🧡 -Michelle
Very nice
We're glad you enjoy this fun project! Thanks so much for watching. -Michelle
Just made one.... I need a lot more practice as the binding on my bib looks terrible from all the puckering. Any suggestions to avoid puckering. Thanks for your wonderful videos! I love them all!!
So happy to hear you made one! A great trick to avoid puckering is to over-pin or over-clip! Just pin, pin, pin! This will keep everything nice and secure and un-puckered!
One option with bias binding is to OPEN it, sew it opened to one side, then fold it and then fold over to the back and sew it closed. The first seam does not show, it's inside, and it is one way to prevent puckers. You open it all the way, and sew just inside where the first fold line is. There are vids on here showing that if you need a visual, it helps prevent puckers.
Love the bib design
So.... just three fat quarters and 3yard bias tape? What widths bias?
Thanks
We used Extra Wide Double Fold bias tape. You can find it at most craft stores or, it is included in the full kits we sell for this project!

i was not able to see or download the pattern for the bib. Please advise.
Hi Danny! It can be a bit hard to find. here's a direct link to it: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Assets/Downloads/UltimateToddlerBib_forDownload.pdf
- Morgan
Hello! Are the fat quaters flannel like the blankets? I'm new in sewing.
Yes! They are awesome! Here is the link to the kits: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Ultimate-Toddler-Bib-Kit-P51643.aspx
What presser foot works best? Could I use a walking foot or is that too big?
Good question! You can always use a walking foot. - Yajaira
Every time I click on the link for the thread color cards, it sends me to a generic page. I've even tried the search tool on your webpage, and I cannot seem to get to the color cards for thread.
Unfortunately, these are currently out of stock but we will hopefully have more soon :)
I love all the things you make! Definately going to make some of these toddler bibs. Out of curiosity, why are the blankets called receiving blankets? X
It's a term that comes from "receiving" a baby for the first time after it is born! Basically baby's first blanket :)
Shabby Fabrics
Thank you! I thought maybe that was why but wasn't positive.....I think its what we call a swaddling blanket in the UK
Yes, swaddling blanket, baby blanket, receiving blanket - lots of names :)
Are you using cotton or flannel which do you find works better if either
We used flannel for these Ultimate Toddler Bibs. You can use cotton, if you'd like. 😍 -Michelle
When I pull up the pattern download it wants to print at 93%. Should I print it at 93% or increase the pattern to 100%? Thanks in advance for your help.
You should definitely print it at 100% for it to be the exact same - however, if you would like a 7% smaller bib (maybe for a smaller child), then 3% is completely fine :)
Made a dozen burpers for granddaughters baby, now I can make many, many, many bibs for her. Like you said 1 is diffently not enough.
For sure- these need to be made in multiples! Thanks for watching :)
What size bias binding did you use please.xx
Hi Sue! In the video Jen uses 3 yds, extra wide, double folded Bias binding. Happy sewing! ~Leah
If I wanted to make matching bib and self binding blanket, how much fabric would I need
Hi Janice - You're probably looking at approximately 3yds of fabric, not including the 3yds extra wide, double fold bias tape. -Michelle
I found that most of my fat quarters that were directional fabric, were in the wrong direction and the fat quarter didn't work. It's off by an inch or so, it probably would still be ok... but just fair warning -- directional fabric may require you to shorten the bib. I still love this bib!
Thank you for letting us know! Happy Holidays! ❄~Leah
I can't get this to download. Need help. Please.
You can print it right from the download page on the website. If you click the link below, you can click the printer logo in the upper right-hand corner: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Assets/Downloads/UltimateToddlerBib_forDownload.pdf
The extra wide double fold bias tape you are using doesn't look like the double fold bias tape that I have. mine says quilt binding on the package. I'm assuming this is different.?
It might be different. Our bias tape is Wright brand and it's available at most craft supply stores. You can also make your own bias tape with a bias tape maker like this one: www.shabbyfabrics.com/clover-bias-tape-maker-6mm-1-4-P66782.aspx
- Morgan
What size is the bias tape she is using on the bib.
Hi Mary - The bias tape used in this project is extra-wide, double fold. Hope this helps! -Michelle
I am wondering what the trick is to going around the corners of the bottom? When I tried to add the edging today it either slipped off the edge or wanted to pucker. It looks like such an easy project but I've had nothing but problems with the pockets and the curve and the slippery fabric (PES fabric for bibs) I'm using. Does anyone have any tips?
Hi Laura! We use Wonder Clips to secure our bindings, specifically bias binding as used in this project. The clips keep everything in place and make it easier to get around those corners. ~Leah
I would love to make this little bib. I can't seem to find the pattern to print even though I clicked on the link for the pattern. Can you tell me what I am missing?
ok, no sooner had i sent this request, I noticed "free downloads" and sure enough there it was. Thanks for making this available. I am super excited about making this for my grandson
Yay! So happy you found what you needed :)
How many yards of fabric do I need for each bib? TIA!
You will need one FQ for each the front, the back, and the pocket of the bib in order for it to work. Happy Quilting! :)
can this be downsized for baby or do you have a separate video for a baby bib? I have a new granddaughter, so would also like to make a "baby" bib. Great video(s)!!!
We have a video for a cute little bandana dribble bib for babies! ua-cam.com/video/cncbYONaGg0/v-deo.html
Hi. What size is the bias tape and how much do I need?
This pattern calls for 3yds of the extra wide bias tape: www.shabbyfabrics.com/p51651/ultimate-toddler-bib-pattern 💖 -Michelle
Making these for my grandson. Any idea on a product that could be used between the layers as a barrier? Toddlers tend to be messy eaters😋
Some people have actually made this pattern with vinyl. Hope that helps! -Michelle
I had trouble with the neck and going around the bottom curves. Any suggestions?
We recommend trying a row of stay stitching 1/8" inside the seam line before binding around the neck. Also, do not stretch the binding to fit, just lay it flat.
- Beth
how do I get the pattern
The pattern is found in our free download section of our website! Here is the link! ~Leah
www.shabbyfabrics.com/Assets/Downloads/UltimateToddlerBib_forDownload.pdf
my download shows a totally different front more of a triangle instead of a semicircle. Did you change the pattern?
Hi Connie - We haven't changed our Free Download for this project, (www.shabbyfabrics.com/free-downloads-and-video/137) Be sure that your printer setting are accurate and make sure to line up the arrows accordingly. It looks like Pages 1 & 4 line up to be the semi-circle on the front. -Michelle
My husband tried to get it to print off with a semi circle and it came up as a triangle again. :( I am baffled why the PDF shows a semi circle but when we go to print it it comes up a triangle. I really need to make some of these bibs. I could try to modify it myself hopefully they will turn out ok. Any suggestions?
THANKS:)
Do you sell these?! I don't have a sewing machine and LOVE this idea!
We do not have these completed ones for sale, but we're glad you enjoy them! You may be able to find someone local to create them for you. 💖 -Michelle
do you have this in adult size
Hi Bobby- We do not have this pattern available in an adult size. 💖 -Michelle
where can I find the free pattern?
You can find it here on our Free Downloads page: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Free-Downloads.aspx -Michelle
