What I love about Gene is that he wasn't portrayed as a stereotypical crazy old conspiracy theorist or some shit. He was just an old man who loved space, his dog, and the circus.

This movie is oddly special to me. You see, before my girlfriend and I got together, she invited me over to her house to watch this. We had just met, and invited me over to watch this and Tremors. And at the end of the films, we got together. It was beautiful.
(As of 2 months ago, she is no longer with me, but the memory remains)

I grew up with insomnia and used to sneak back out into the living room to watch tv after everyone was asleep. One of those nights I saw this movie, and spent the rest of my childhood trying to convince my older sister that this movie actually existed....she didn't believe me until we got the internet...

At this point we probably won’t which sucks it’s been in the talks talks for over a decade and it would be sick imagine giving these brothers modern equipment and a decent budget to make a Killer clowns from outer space movie

When I was 15 years old my dad banned me from watching this movie, now that I've actually seen it I'm so confused as to why he was so against it... It's relatively clean compared to other movies in the genre
Maybe he thought you'd be afraid of clowns after it. Oddly enough I went to school with & knew a good few folks were were scared of clowns, and never knew why. I assumed Pennywise, as that was the only evil clown I knew for the longest before this one.
@@SilverWolf442 It couldn't have been that because at that age he let me watch the original it mini series, but not this.... I have a hard time understanding my dad's choices when it came to what I was allowed to watch. As a kid he banned me from watching SpongeBob but would let me watch the Simpsons, It got so bad that when I was around 15 years old, he straight up told me I wasn't allowed to watch adventure time.... At 15 years old... And from then on I just watched whatever I wanted to and completely stopped caring about my parents authority 😂

I think this and Tim Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise in the 1990 IT TV movie caused children who grew up in the late 80’s and early 90’s to develop a phobia of clowns or so
One of the funniest scenes I've ever scene is when the Torenzi Brother's get into a ball pit and see the two female Killer Knows.

This movies best scene is when the police chief stereotypically refuses to listen to the truth about the clowns, up to the point where he face to face with one of them but just keeps declaring that its a prank on him to he's dying breath.
I actually went back to the original movie and painstakingly counted every single one of those cocoons in the big spaceship or whatever and I actually ended up with 157 kills and that is after adding the stuff that James already counted it is 157 kills I’m pretty sure

When I was twelve I started binge watching any horror film that I could watch thanks to the first computer of the family, during that time I watched a lot of classics, but I also watched a lot of weird horror movies...this one is weird and is a classic.

I think my favorite horror movie trope is the “too stupid to die” characters
Just imagine, You're in your house in the woods just relaxing on your porch with your dog when a bright light flashes across the sky. You remember reading about a meteor called Haily's comet. You go inside and grab some gear, then head off into the woods to find the famous comet. You arrive at a clearing in the woods, where a giant circus tent is set up. You always love going to the circus, so you take your dog and get closer to the tent. As you try to find an entrance, you realize that your dog is no longer with you and there is a hole in the side of the tent. You realize that whoever is in the tent must've taken your dog. You get mad and try to tear down the tent, only to get shocked to the ground. Then a creepy looking clown walks up to you, points a gun at you, and shoots.
All you wanted to do was see a comet, then you saw a circus so you went to see the show, they take your dog, they shock you, then they kill you. R.I.P. Gene.You shall be missed by everyone who sees this movie.
Most of the kills in this one are very sad like the guy under the car, bus stop people, and box of chocolates lady

The dog and the excited older poor man was an unneeded death that made me sad. He seemed so happy.

While in certain ways I agree with you, I also feel like that opening kill (or kills, the dog is never in the movie again) helps to emphasize the maliciousness of the clowns. Unlike many horror movies being made now, where the supposed “heroes” don’t warrant much sympathy due to how they’re presented/written, the old man and his dog are actually sympathetic. The old man clearly cares about his dog upon finding it missing, and the dog really has no say in any of what’s going on. Because of this, we as the audience connect with them more, and have a genuine emotional reaction when they are victimized. This is just how I view it, of course. I don’t remember feeling sad after seeing other people in this movie get cocooned besides that part.
Actually the Chiodo Brothers said in an interview one time that the balloon dog was actually Poohbear, the bloodhound who belong to old, farmer Greene but if you guys do remember Mike and Debbie ran over the Killer Klowns balloon dog (AKA Poohbear) so that means Poohbear died sadly

Ah...revisiting this one after so long...This video's special to me because it was the first Kill Count I ever watched. I had been looking up info about the movie and stumbled across this, and out of curiosity I watched it. And here we are, years later...I wouldn't change a thing.
