What are you talking about, the ghostbusters game had updates every 3 months all last year, and surely when the new movie comes out they will release an update. If you want to use that game as an example of them abandoning the game, that's a bad example. They also did not charge for any of the updates.
So Jason, Leatherface and the Killer Klowns have a their own game what's next? Freddy Kreuger would be fun especially if done like the NES classic. Chucky might be fun but not certain how they would do it. Ghostface would be funny because how goofy some of the different versions of Ghostface are in the first movie at least. What other horror movie icon would you like to see get their own game?
Hopefully this game will get so successful, that it will finally spark some thought with MGM to finally consider a sequel to the original film that the Chiodo Brothers have been trying to make for decades.👍

Looks like the Jason Voorhees game style. If the game was based around the movie, the developers should actually watch the movie and base the game around it. Like in the ending scene of the movie, the Cop stabs the giant clowns nose with his badge and the Big Top explodes in the air.

Did you see the side by side visuals comparison between the movie and the game? The developers have easily matched the look of the film and even gone beyond that! They know what they’re doing. Even have the Chiodo brothers, the creators of the movie on board as consultants.
game looks fun, if its reasonably priced and has fun gameplay loop and gets frequent updates it will do well. otherwise it will just be like friday the 13th or the texas chainsaw game
