Fun fact: American actress, Lee Fierro, who played Mrs. Kintner in Jaws, once walked into a seafood restaurant in Massachusetts and saw that the menu had an "Alex Kintner Sandwich." She mentioned that she had played his mother decades ago, and when the owner ran out to meet her, it turned out to be Jeffrey Voorhees, the man who played her son.

The scene was never shot at night. The scene was shot in the day so it could be changes to night in post-production. This is an old technique called Day-for-Night.
Fun facts: 1) The book by Peter Benchley (released 1974) had Hooper dying as well as Quint. The real-life shark footage caught when filming with the shark cage was put in instead of Hooper's death; a decision which Steven Speilburg agonised over for a while. 2) The animatronic shark used was tested initially in swimming pools in order to test the movement in the water. However, they didn't take into account the salt in the ocean, so when filming, the shark just fell apart in the ocean 3) Peter Benchley regretted writing jaws as soon after the film was released, a frenzy in shark hunting and killing began, and he hated this fact and that it was his book which caused it. He and his wife set up a foundation to help with shark protection, which his wife still runs after his death. 4) Also in the book, Ellen Brody actually had an affair with Hooper. 5) This is all covered in a documentary called "How Jaws Changed the World". Wow, I didn’t know any of these fun facts. No, I’m lying everybody knows all of these. Here’s a fun fact, all your favorite parts in the movie are not in the book. But if you want to read about Chief Brody making a sandwich it’s great!
There are so many differences between the movie and the book. For the better, I'd say. Chief Brody was a wimp, Hooper was an asshole, Ellen was slutting it up, and the mayor was in the pocket of the mob. I think the changes were justified and one of the rare occasions where the movie is better than the book.
@@travismiller4320 I did know that because I read the book years before I first watched the film. These facts I found interesting when I watched the film. Just because you know them, doesn't mean others do.

Only the final half? Joking aside the only similarities are the kills (mostly) and the shark really. The movie excises that the mayor has ties to the mob plus the mob threatens Martin Brody's family. His wife has an affair with Hooper and she dated Hooper's older brother. Hooper dies leaving the chief stranded by himself (he actually has a phobia of the ocean). Oh there's also the fact that Martin (who suspects the affair) almost kills Hooper on an earlier hunt and only doesn't because he didn't have his gun on him. @Crypto Krankit Oh My Gosh, You must've not watched his past video where where he said you may not agree with stuff but don't call anyone a dumbass or be dick to anyone 😂😂😂
The reveal of Bruce popping up when Brody is throwing chum into the water is my favorite subtle reveal in movies and one of the funniest IMO. Bruce is like “hurrdurr hey neighbor”
I always loved the subtle detail of the boat being named the Orca, a species of dolphin that hunts seals, penguins, whale calves, and of course, sharks.
Yeah. I agree. It was way to much. To well acted maybe? Raw You basically watch this guy suffer horribly until he is dead. Also parents still allowed their kids to watch this even when they were warned. It's more exploitative than scary. I think there is nothing thrilling about watching horrible suffering. Also we had all grown to become aquai ted to the characters. So sorta ruins the movie for me.
"...blood RED GRANT money..." Nice Bond reference dude. "Red Grant" was the name of Shaw's character, an assassin working for SPECTRE in the second ever James Bond film, 1963's From Russia With Love.
@@MrBlueSkyof1607 Watch the rest! But: I. Some of the Connery era stuff has aged pretty poorly. II. Of Roger Moore's movies, just watch his first, Live And Let Die from 1973. The rest are pretty campy.
This was a very cool shot I the movie but Steven Spielberg later adds a cg comet into every movie afterwards making this one less special but still really cool
Fun fact: "Jaws" was (loosely) based off of real events. There was a series of shark attacks off the coast of New Jersey in July 1916 which provided much of the inspiration behind the novel and gets mentioned in the movie.
Depends on which version he covers. If it's original one and it's James Cameron sequel then probably not. If it's the excellent remake and the so bad it's beyond campy sequel 3DD then yep, large kill count for both.
What I expected: Lots of dead people What I learned: *the shark is named Bruce* Edit: Ok folks I meant that I thought there was gonna be lots of rampaging and wayyyyyy more deaths like everyone was gonna die. Also I was implying the repetition of the name Bruce. It was funny to me
My head cannon is it's the same shark each film that keeps coming back but in the sequels he's no longer eating for food and instead out of spite for humans cause the person who killed him was a human as to why this shark can come back to life............I'd love to give an answer to that but unfortunately I don't have one
@@calumbyrne5926 here’s why he comes back….he’s the recent incarnation of an ancient legend of an immortal shark that comes back whenever a greedy executive smells a chance for cheap profit. In conclusion, money brings him back.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo wasn't around in the 70s until the first Nintendo game in the 80s. Please don't give negative feedback I just saying that's what I think.
One interesting fact that's sad at the same time: Peter Benchley later came to regret writing Jaws since it and the film lead to a lot of shark-related fears and sharks being killed for no reason.
Yeah if people actually did research on sharks they'd realize they rarely attack humans...most of the time if they do its because they mistake humans for some other animal , so yea people do get attacked but rarely
14:42 I never saw this Crossfade as awkward. I think it works because it's humourous, and it implies that Brody went on and on about the shark. The audience doesn't need to hear all of it, just the start, until it fades away out of annoyance.
Same. That crossfade is, like, the fourth time he mentions going back to land for reinforcements, and I think it’s a hilarious way to emphasize that Brody is already fucking done with this shit.
I had the huge honor of having to have seen this in 3D for “cinema day” my wife had never seen it and having her jump at all the scares I knew was coming will always be one of my favorite memories involving going to the theaters
mine is one where this is this one woman who is an extra that people think is a murder victim that was never identified but the set never had her name, it wasnt the actual scene, just the background
Quint's monologue is a masterpiece. It instills a feeling of intense dread and foreboding. Incredible acting and writing. This movie is an absolute masterpiece.
I actually saw both Jurassic Park and Jaws during the weekend and despite knowing who dies, it was an incredible experience. I really liked the movies and would definitely watch again
The movie that had me scared to go swimming in backyard pools had crocs or gators in it. These three kids were playing pirate. Two of them made the other "walk-the-plank" and little did they know, Peter Pan was a much darker story than they remembered...
Story time! One night when I was ten I went to my aunts house to swim. She decided to turn on a movie in the pool house while me and a couple other kids were in the pool. It was jaws. I WATCHED THE CROCODILE SCENE FROM A POOL AT NIGHT. I was and am still scarred.
9:59 That jump scare caused my grandma to nearly pee her pants when her and my granddaddy watched Jaws in theaters. She never watched the movie again, and never swam in the ocean again either.
My grandmother wasn’t expecting it either so when she jumped, she accidentally threw her popcorn everywhere covering most the people next to her. My dad said everyone was laughing though because they got scared too 🤷🏼♀️
Interesting facts: in the book Hooper and Brody’s wife have an affair and Brody finds out just before Hooper goes down in the cage, where he gets killed by the shark
This film was actually a part of the investigation of the 'Lady of the Dunes' case because one of the background actors at 11:05 looked exactly like the murder victim that started the 'Lady of the Dunes' investigation into said victim's homicide case

Quint's death is one of the few on-screen deaths in horror that genuinely traumatized me as a kid.
Yeah.
He may have been an ass but he didn't deserve that (especially since he survived being on the USS Indianapolis)

One interesting fact that's sad at the same time: Peter Benchley later came to regret writing Jaws since it and the film lead to a lot of shark-related fears and sharks being killed for no reason.
Yeah, he spent the rest of his life advocating for sharks to, essentially, not be killed
Yeah if people actually did research on sharks they'd realize they rarely attack humans...most of the time if they do its because they mistake humans for some other animal , so yea people do get attacked but rarely
