The Beatles have plenty of touching and emotional songs, but (at least to me) Skynyrd has something that moves me much deeper in my soul.
@@scramblesthedeathdealer I'm right with you bro - my comparison is Skynyrd never recorded a bad song, just like the Beatles - two best bands ever IMHO.
I still remember leaving the high school parking lot in 9th grade (1979) and my buddy Dave Simons coming up to me saying I had to listen to this song called Free Bird by a Lynyrd Skynyrd. I was hooked from then on...
On the studio version, where Ronnie says “I know, I know, I know” and it fades out to the guitar. That for some reason gives me goosebumps, the way they recorded that intrigues me.
I like that part too
Plus Collin's clean wah soloing so emotional
I'm a fucking mess after that jam !! 🥴 🤣
Allen shreds in this song. Killer
Allen Collins is a guitar god!! RVZ, best frontman, EVER!
he was the best ever bar none. jack willis
Allen is my favorite guitar player of all time! He's amazing!
Well Hell Yeah sumbitch !
rip
Jack Arrowood AGREED!!!!!
When he yells “SHOOT IT” the guitar player goes off on that crazy solo is one of the reasons I love this video awesome band too
allen's the total package. tone. licks. he dont overplay. gary's IN the pocket all the time. yo ANY and ALL of skynyrd's gtr players are top tier
Still the greatest band to ever walk God’s green earth ..
America at its finest! Allen, what great one you wrote!
God how I love/ admire Allen Collins ......
His solo's are so emotional..... 🌟
Loved Allen 💜💜💜🕶🕶🕶
The sound of those guitars is just insane
Allen put more soul and feeling in his playing than anyone
The boys look to be in pretty rough condition from the road but they never lost any of the EXCELLENT talent they possessed. The greatest rock band of all time !
Ya, it's a shame. One more good tour and they probably could have taken a little break. Rest up, and enjoy some of their hard earned money. But tragedy struck before they could finish that tour!
@@BST-lm4po yeah man, they were just short of playing at Madison Square Garden. Something Ronnie wanted badly.
Never knew Allan played so many of them leads, he’s fantastic, truly underrated.
Alan Collins played his guitar solos, the same exact way every time……they say that is almost unheard of ❤❤❤
No band ever made more great music in such a short time.
You got that right
Here...here.... Yessir...indeed.... Sad day on 10201977..... Remember exactly what i was doing. Mom told me. I had just came in from the woods.
That's a fact

I had tickets for front row, balcony in Chicago when they crashed. Saw them twice before, 3 times after crash. Best American band. Period.
Bet that 💯
Shame they are all gone. But this rocks, one of the greatest bands period
Along with Skynyrd, all the original members of Molly Hatchet and Atlanta Rhythm Section are gone, also.
Allen Collins , we love you and miss you , he will always be one if not the greatest guitarist , who over lived !
Anyone at that show was seriously lucky to have that memory .
When Allen Collins comes in at 1:38 with the wah pedal it gives me goosebumps.
I agree...just incredible!
Allen tearin it up!!!! You are missed.RIP
Allen rips on this.. RIP Ronnie and the boys
This music has aged like fine wine. And now we know. They may have been the greatest band the south ever saw. As great as the ABB. Allen Collins , Ed King and Gary Rossington. Electric guitars played with SOUTHERN accents. 💙
They SMOKE the ABB....I Love Dickey Betts tho.
Ronnie is the Goat ,and so is Lynyrd Skynyrd
Collins never get tired watching him! Vanzant! Super stars Gary triplets!
In my opinion, the Greatest American Rock Band of all time..
Man, truer words never been spoken,,,, Great song...Collins rips on the guitar and wawa pedal. Truly an under rated guitar player. With Rossington and then Gaines, the best for as long as they were, R.I.P. ALL THE BAND
yes sir...unreal players,so tight..
This might be the best video ever.
This was made shortly after my tenth birthday! To you to go see them but not to young to enjoy the music!
Such an awesome song, love Allen's playing always and Ronnie's lyrics are second to none.
Long live the Skynyrd!!
Another one of my favorite songs from Skynyrd😇🙏🤟❤️
Allen ~ in all his glory, just captivating! Diehard original LS fans are thinking about you on what would have been your 66th birthday! 💙🎸🎼
As i listen to this on 7March2021, 45 years to the day, it still gives me chills. Blessed beyond belief to have grown up in the 70's with these guys.... They are family....
I'm 62 and couldn't AGREE with you more! That's when music was REAL music with lyrics that had true meaning! Great memories!💯☝️🎶🎸🎤🌟
I can’t think of a better band than this
They were the best rock n roll band than anyone else and Allen Collins was a dam good guitar player that didn't get the recognition he deserved. God bless these guys
For a teenager during the early 70's. Growing up in ATL was heaven for concerts. RVZ was and is like family..... I was heartbroken on 20 Oct 1977. I graduated in 1977. We also lost Elvis earlier in the year. RVZ was our hero. He was one of us. The music went to our souls. I wanna go back....
Me too brother me too
