- 🎬 IN THIS VLOG
Welcome to our van build series. We're Malin from Sweden and Alex from the UK. At the end of the summer of 2020, after 5 months locked down in Thailand we moved to Spain, bought a van and started converting it.
In this vlog we're once again cutting some whole in our van. This time in the backdoors as we attempt to install some very cool porthole windows, cut as usual when we work in the van, it doesn't work out as planned.

Installing those gaskets around the windows is always a real pain in the ass, especially when the gaskets are somewhat cold. The weather there in February looks very nice, here where I am located we are having a snowstorm and very nice to see the sun in Spain. All the best!
You need to apply soapy water when slipping them in
Nice
Awesome video 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks 🙏
@@TimezoneJunkies welcome sir and mam 🤗🤗🤗.
To fit the windows in place you shouldve used soapy water and they should really be laced up after you sika the rubber.
Lovely!
Thanks 😊
My van came with two of these in each side. Two years after it was built they had leaked so much the wood had rotted away. It's taken me all afternoon to remove one, cut the hole out bigger and replace the rubber with a traditional rubber with a locking bead. They are a nightmare! Never again......
Yeah… they were tricky little buggers. We installed them and they seemed fine, then we had heavy rains and one leaked. I put sealant under the rubber in hopes of fixing it…it didn’t! Eventually we managed to resolve it by putting sealant on top of the ‘glass’ in the grove between the rubber. All good now though haha. They were a pain to install too! Thanks for watching and commenting!
To fit windows to a vehicle in Spain as I understand it, is modifying the original structure. Which means an official stamp from somewhere to allow it! Yes paperwork, payments. Then you get a stamp, and take it to an official licenced garage that can perform the work. Then it can pass the ITV. Did you guys do any of this process?
Converting a van in Spain means you have to do something called homogolacion. We used a company helping guide us through it and sorting all papers for us but we did the whole conversion ourselves. Was all done online with the company called tutuning but there are many others. Had we done it ourselves we would have had to visit a garage and collect the paperwork ourselves which is a pain. Once we finished and got the paperwork from tutuning we did the itv and passed.
Nice! What’s the diameter of these portholes (incl the rubberring)?
I think they are 380mm. You can find them on a website called wagenplatz under ojo de buey. Cheers
