- In this video. We are fitting our 10 inch porthole windows. Much cheaper than rear opening windows and give a novelty factor too.

Very helpful.. Informative.... Thank you... And Nos Dha from Cornwall 😉👌
Thankyou. I hope it was of some use for you. What does that translate to in Cornwall (the best part of the country)
Thankyou so much. This is definitely the best porthole window video on ebay
Thankyou. That's very kind of you. Hope the video has helped you in some way
Tjay look much better than I originally thought so I will be getting some now. Thankyou Dan
Thankyou. Glad it has been of help in some way
Good idea add a screen 2 keep out the bugs
Thankyou. Luckily we never had any unwelcome bugs. I mainly had them open of a night time in bed. All dark and pretty much had an arm out the one and a leg out the other. Enough to scare the bravest of bugs lol
This is brilliant Dan - I was thinking of doing this exactly the same way, but I couldn’t quite figure out if it would be ok from a water proof perspective - I can now really see how the portholes work thanks to your vid and I’ll be installing mine the same way. HUGE thanks for taking the time to explain it and share your progress! 👍
Hey, I'm glad it has been of some help for you. Hope your build is going well 😁
great video this is the best way I have seen it done, good advice. :)
Thankyou bud. Appreciate the kind feedback 👌👍
Great help. 👌👍👍
Thankyou. Appreciate the feedback
Bang on pal, quality video and will indeed be checking them out for ours. My wife's in your fb group...... Loving it pal 👍👍👍👍
Thankyou buddy. Hope all is good with you both
Thank you for the great video! Have you experienced any problems with leaking with a porthole that opens like that? I am going to put one in my van but not sure whether to go for a fixed shut one or opening one. Cheers :)
Hi there. Thankyou. I've put them in the previous 2 vans and never had any issues with leaking. The seal is really tight once they are closed. I would have put them in my new van but fancied full size windows this time. Would definitely recommend them. Hope your build is going well
Banging video mate! Only one yet to properly show how to fit. I have got a few questions though. How big did you cut your ply squares that you used as a spacer? Or how do you work out how big it needed to be? And what was the white material that you stuck on it? How has it held up after been fitted for a year?
Hey bud, thankyou. With the ply squares I did them as Big as I could to Fit within the door panel. I wasn't sure on what I was going to do so wanted to make it as big as possible to allow for more ideas. If you're looking at putting a little Cill in, then it would be whatever size you wanted it to be. The white stuff is called fablon/ DC film. Its pretty cool and sticks well. Hope this helps and sorry about the late reply
Great job Dan, how is it draining? Is the angle for the drain enough so it does not collect and then flood when you open them? I am still contemplating getting one or two for the rear doors, but the angle of the door isn't great (ford transit custom) and I think I would have to do the same as you and pack the inside to keep them flush and angled for drainage.
Thankyou Chris. Yes to be fair that's what I was more concerned about, but the lip should be sufficient. I've angled it a bit but it's still not completely angled. The way the windows are, there shouldn't be any water coming in when you open it. If anything it would be the drips off the actual glass itself. I'll probably keep a little shammy cloth in the van just in case to wipe the windows
@@Selfbuildcampers Cheers Dan, I am a while off that decision yet. Windows arriving today, as with you my build is very slow going, especially due to the weather, I think I have had about 5 days dry 'van' weather since it arrived in January, those that have been dry have been too cold for any adhesive to be used.
How did Hulu cut the little Chanel at the bottom ? , do you cut square them use a round file ?
Hey paisley, for the bottom bit, I used a drill bit the same size as the curve.
@@Selfbuildcampers thanks 🙏
