Yeah that definitely was a subtle yet obvious expression of admiration by Billy, who's definitely at the front of the pack for the next generation of pipers. I like Billy because his influences are vast but not narrowed down to one dominant one. Goose, Twiddle, Pigeons, owe so much to Phish for helping them find their musical voices. Sometimes it's almost just like a not as good, blatant case of theft. I think Phish can improv better than all that fit into this genre, and I do like alot of Marshall's lyrics. But Hunter is just unmatched as a lyric writer and imho what puts the Dead at the top. And I was raised on Phish so I should be biased, but it just wouldn't be true. Ive spent so much time telling people they aren't giving Marshall a focused listen, and I still think he gets an unfair wrap. But Hunters lyrics were capable of touching anyone. Idc if you're an 80yr old grandma or a 16yr old outsider. He just had a way. I know that isn't a very good critique but it really is the fact of the matter. ✌
I'm so grateful that the younger generation of musicians are covering, paying tribute to and jamming with Phish! I love Phish. The soundtrack of my life. Trey is my Jedi Master.
Beautiful!! Much thanks to all. Love seeing that NYC skyline in there. I can’t help but think back to October 87 and the Garcia Acoustic Band’s run of shows on Broadway at the Lundt Fontaine Theatre. Garcia, Grisman and pals had phun very much like these guys. Keep the musical ball rolling ! So pleased!
Amazing work playin Jibboo like this. I love it. And i guess i wanna add that when it starts i thought maybe they were going into Tangled Up In Blue...I've heard Jibboo a thousand times and never thought that...cool
The smile on Trey's face says everything you need to know about Bill Strings. Pay attention - you're watching a guitar phenomenon grow up. And he's already amazing. If you are too old to remember Hendrix or Beck - here's you're second chance. Sometimes you just gotta jibboo.
Billy doing the funk alarm to start the jam was such a cool way to show his love for Trey.

Trey: “You get a torch! [Goose] And you get a torch! [Billy]”
Bobby passed it to BIlly already.
@@soggynachos3396 Bobby passed the Jerry Torch. Trey represents the Zappa side of Jam Bands. So Billy has received BOTH of the 'Founding Jam Torches'.
@@Wayzor_ I completely agree and thought the same thing really! Just goofin I guess haha. Totally agree on Trey representing the Zappa side.
