I'd have to add a tip #11 and this can apply to pretty much any game that you're trying to learn, and that's to play with mates that you can rely on. It's much harder to learn and get good at a game when you're queuing in with randos all the time, with a reliable group of friends you can have each other's back, communicate, and from those key things you will afford each other the opportunities to focus on improving your play style without fear of being let down by a rando who decides to run off and play bush goblin while you're left on your own trying to 1v3.
I personally have a lot of fun with random partners even when we dont get in chat. Especially if they are experienced. Reading each other tactically is so much fun
One thing I think I learn (and teach, in a way) a lot of game sense and so on is to talk about why we died when we load out. Just talk it through with a mate to air out what went wrong and cover each others misinterpretations or missed info. Did we do the right call, just didn't hit our shots? Should we have known about that ambush? Did we hesitate, or was the hesitation correct? Did one person know something the other needed to know? These things are great to talk, and think, about when you have time to jsut go through it. At least it beats just hating yourself for being bad all night.
personally I've found that queuing with random partners helps you learn a lot more about how to lead your team without even giving a verbal order, either on passive objectives or in firefights. even though there is little to no communication beyond pings, eventually you begin to know how to control the focus of your teammates. if you are the one in front of them, they will follow your lead. you shoot, they shoot. you post up on a rooftop to overwatch a firefight, and you ping them where to flank from. sure, its nice to have a group you can entirely rely on after having plenty of experience with them, but being able to lead a team of strangers without speaking a word is much more useful.
I also think the training mode in this game added about a year ago is very underrated. Most players seem to have only gone a single time to earn blood bonds. But you have a zone of six compounds where you can practice aim, experiment with loadouts, sensitivities, key binds and do anything you want in your own private server world where no one can hurt you.
I have things to add here. First of all, as someone who is trying to get /consistently/ better with aiming, understand and accept that your aim is gonna be fluctuating each day you play, as does your overall performance. Another thing that has helped me is controlling my panic during fights. The last tip in this video was practicing your aiming. On top of that, monitor your panic during fights and practice staying calm, win or lose, your goal should be getting better at both things (and having fun). I use diaphragmatic breathing to actively make sure I stay focused and calm. This part goes without saying, but with time and experience, you'll grow more confident in your ability, just remember to have fun while you're learning to improve, it's the most important part for your efforts to bear fruit.
Tip: Find one gun and get good with it. it can be temping to want to try out all the guns and ammo types. Once you feel comfortable move on to another gun and get good with it. This tactic has helped me the most.
One in-depth tip for adjusting your sensitivity is to go into training mode, bring a weapon with very little sway, find an exact point on a wall or object, aim at it from about 10~20 meters away, and then walk around randomly in somewhat big movements, trying to keep your aim locked onto that spot. If you have trouble keeping it accurately on that spot, your sensitivity is too high. If you cannot keep up, your sensitivity is too low. Adjust accordingly until you can comfortably lock that aim on a spot even as you walk around changing directions frequently. Once you've found your ideal sensitivity, ideally you would then get a mouse mat that is wide enough to let you do a 360 with that sensitivity.
This is such a great post! The only thing I disagree with is the mousepad part. You only need a mousepad that will allow you to rotate 180 degrees, 210 degrees max. The 360 rotation is definitely not needed and you don’t need a super large mousepad for that either. What people need to realize is that resetting your mouse in a fight is completely fine if you have the right tools. I invested in a softer mousepad (Hayate Otsu XSOFT) and a really light mouse (I was previously using the g502 which was way too heavy for FPS games). This allowed me to be able to reset to the point where it’s not noticeable at all during fire fights. Cheers!
I do this, but with flicking. I'll blindly-flick between some different targets, by feel, and adjust my sense dependimg if my flicks are short or overshooting.
Absolutely love the humble honesty but, me being honest, you're good enough that I'm here seeking your advice and appreciating each tip along the way. I'm not new to FPS but very new to PC so some of these tips are at least a good brush-up and reminder coming from console games and games that are almost all hit-scan or bullet fall off. But, Kudos, thanks for staying true to Hunt.
Personal recommendation: If you are on windows. Open the control panel and open the Mouse properties section and disable enhance mouse precision under the pointer options. When this option is on, mouse acceleration will occur and will alter your mouse speed when you are moving the cursor faster. THIS IS HORRIBLE FOR PRECISION, since the distance your hand has to travel will not be consistent!
A good tip for aiming on console is use hunter not gunslinger and turn down turning acceleration to 70. Have a really high sensitivity on default sensitivity for melee and dark sight. Then adjust shoulder and ads until you find a good sweet spot for close range and long range gunfights. It’s also more convenient for using melee attacks and melee rushing with guns because trying to hold R3 and turn is quite difficult.
I'm very. Very. Glad you made a video about this. You admit your aim is not the best, but your ability to conceptualize and teach others makes all the difference. Having to teach yourself how to aim gives you so much more insight than just being cracked for years prior to playing Hunt. Your aim is a lot better than mine, lol, and I've taken it a step further. I've signed up for an aim training course by Ron "Rambo" Kim. He's kind of the guru at teaching general aiming for FPS. Unfortunately, hunt doesn't fall into the Valorant / overwatch style of aiming / game play, what with the iron sights and such, and bull travel time. So fortunately, I can combine his tips, AND YOUR tips, to really step up my game. Appreciate you doing this. Cheers!
Just picked it up on PC, played hundreds of hours on console... I cannot express how aggravating it is to know exactly what I want to do but my hands are dumb. It's getting better every day but man... It's a grind. Really appreciate the guide and THANK YOU for the sensitivity tip!
I highly recommend playing QP when it comes back as there is very little downside to being super aggro. I went from a .92 to a 1.09 because I use QP as practice/warmup. Another tip I found is to aim by strafing when possible that way you only have to worry about one axis instead of two. I am primarily on console but I find it also helps a lot on pc!
Quickplay has no Matchmaking which is why it is useless for anybody with a 3 star rating so i never played it again since i havent played the game for 6000hours.
I'd say #2 is more important during active gunfights. I've experienced and witnessed many occasions where taking a shot too early during a shootout because I didnt use a split of a second I had to make sure I'd hit made me lose a fight. It requires strong nerves and confidence during those situations but if you're having trouble aiming during gunfights. Rushing shots isnt going to help. Make sure you hit. It might be the only shot you can and need to take anyways.
ADJUST YOUR AIM SENSITIVITIES! Holy crap this is helpful! You can fine tune for each sight type, sniper, deadeye scope, iron sights etc. I run at 6900-7700 dpi with a regular sized mouse pad and my sights are all tuned to .5 and below.
For me point 4 has been my playstyle where in my case it's easier and more doable to double tap the body than one tap the head hitbox. I also am a bigger fan of duel wield than most where I with spread and reduced accuracy my aim doesn't have to be precise anyway but I can dish out twice as many bullets. My friend also swears by lowering sensitivity and I don't disagree. I just hated having to use more space and bigger arm movements and a bigger mouse pad and it just wasn't for me, even if I can't land those killer headshots against moving targets like you did at 3:26.
Great video as always! I play on xbox and use gunslinger settings (I'm already well aware of the pros and cons) however I've always been curious as to how the hip fire crosshair works? Does the bullet go dead center similar to ADS? Or is it an RNG thing with a chance to go anywhere within the sometimes large crosshair? Obviously shotguns etc. are different due to spread. But I'm not sure how it works exactly with rifles and pistols...
So when in hipfire, the bullet can go anywhere within the cross hair area, but it's not completely random, as they seem more likely to land near the center than the edge, so there is some probability involved
with single shot weapons, which hunt is all about, flick aiming is definitely the way to go. Quick play is a great way to train gunplay, although its no good for bounty hunt movement and tactics. For new players i would recommend play at least 1/3 of your time on quick to build skill, then move to bounty hunt
Yeah i was wating too. I have 700+ too but my aim is not improving since the 200-300 hour mark :D But probably i am at my skill max and can't get any better.
I'd suggest newer players to play with higher bullet velocity weapons at the start (easier to hit with, obtainable even on the Winnie C) and learn slower bullet guns later. If I did that back at the time I would've learned a lot faster.
Great explanations of the gun mechanics, exactly what I was looking for. Just purchased the game and was curious about bullet drop and travel time this answered that for me and a few other questions I had as well about how the shooting part of the game operates.
I watched this video when you posted it but i was just beginning in hunt, i also was on xbox.. i ditched my xbox account with 3k kills cuz i got a gaming laptop (: Now im back to this video because m&k is crazy dawg. I love hunt with all newfound appreciation
Leading moving targets is the main thing I can't do for shit in this game. The lack of bullet tracers make it really hard to have any idea what you're doing wrong. No idea if I'm under of over leading. The tip of sticking to similar velocity weapons for a while is a good one though I really wish the game had some kind of training range with moving targets.
the weapon sway is what gets me. I play on console and mid to long range shots can be very difficult. Ive been playing alot of Quick Play and it helps to learn weapons and fighting under pressure!
People who struggle with something are the best for telling you how to improve. Someone who is naturally good at something like shooting can't tell you how to do it because they don't even think about it.
Tip that you should of added. download AimLab because its free and click into options and select game specs and then pick Hunt:Showdown. Now you can practice using all your hunt specs and do lots of shooting and master your skills. Also the ironsights mosin trail at train station is something I do most regularly because starting my gaming session. Its make a huge difference to my aim. HUGE
one thing I recommend, ess this enough, is Training Mode. Go into Training Mode and shoot anything. Zombies, Lanterns, even simply aim on corners and try to get faster. Do it while moving, do it quickly and do it at different distances. You might not be able to shoot real targets from the get go, but you will become faster in simply aiming at directions and be more comfortable with shooting at all.
I’d say levering and fanning are actually a bad go to when trying to improve aim, I now refuse to take levering unless I’m rocking the marksman and as a result my aim has improved significantly because of it. Limiting yourself can be really helpful when trying to get better.
So idk if it's just me, but some guns seem to hit like a millimeter or two over the front sight post when using irons, so I try aim at the neck or mouth section of the head most of the time. Worked so far for me.
your tip about the mouse sensevity is right, but maybe you should had mention that this is also something what depends on the person as in any shooter, most people would go crazy when they play with my settings, i barly move my arm for a 360 degree turn but still i can aim really well. maybe also because i have an extra button on my mouse which i use for carefull aim which degress the dpi on my mouse trastigly
@@timmkrutzfeld6323 yea like I don’t notice the sway but when I try straffing side to side I notice I miss a lot more, idk if it’s in my head that I miss more or if it just a thing lol
I know I'm a little late here, but another good tip is to play with randoms instead of solo. At least if you're somewhat new to the game. Being able to follow the lead of veteran players and watch what they do will help you learn the game much quicker than playing solo.
Honestly, the same follows in all FPS games with ADS. Center your target in your view BEFORE you zoom in, don't zoom in to try and make it easier to center your target.
I definitely have alot of off and on days. So hard to constantly be amazing everyday. My aim has most definitely improved and my KD has too. Im not one to argue about my KD either. I use to be all about improving my KD but I realized having fun was a benefactor to improving my KD without complaining. When I used keyboard and mouse I was stuck at a .99 KD but then I switched to controller and I am currently at a 1.09. To me, thats a huge improvement and I'm happy to say that almost every game, if not every other I always get a couple to few kills. Glad to say, I got my first server wipe all by myself with controller. I just wish cross platform capability can be an option.... ik they are worried about it being "unfair" for console players but if I can play on PC, with controller and get kills, I don't see any excuse on why not to add it.. just make an option to turn cross platform capabilities on or off in the menu. There is hope and really do want to see this happen at some point. Anyway, if anyone is struggling with their KD and aiming I definitely recommend trying out controller and giving it a shot. It could possibly help!
There is a mouse settings which increase your turn sense the more you turn. I recommend turning it off (No clue what the simple name is called) it Will feel more natural then
Are you sure about the jumping inaccuracy thing? I haven't been able to find anything confirming it but I have found a lot of clips where jumpshotting has proved accurate and effective on one shot rifles and snipers
My KDA is around 0.6 - after 850+ hours of Hunt. So I can claim to be an expert in the field of bad aiming. I am missing a few very basic things in this otherwise good video: My KDA improved from an initial 0.2 to 0.4 by buying a new monitor and adjusting the graphics settings to constantly reach 60+ fps. So having adequate hardware is an important thing which needs to be mentioned. Improving my KDA from 0.4 to 0.6 was achieved by physically placing my monitor higher because I realised that I was very much struggling with the low placement of the crosshair/iron sights in Hunt and tended to shoot over the opponents head as a result. Having my monitor placed in a position so that my eyes are level with the iron sights did help. Now my biggest problem is that I seem to be unable to get my brain to accept that I have to lead my shots =).
Do you play with min graphics to boost your odds? In your vids it almost looks like you're playing with max settings (at least sun light effects are visible, I think). Questions goes also into the round. :)
@@4FSGaming thx for the answer :) I read articles about reducing all effect and light settings to increase the chance to see through mist and green (or even thin walls). But I dislike the principle and could not make out a big difference either. My frames are around 120-144, with high graphics
Another great hint woud be: LOSE YOUR FEAR TO LOSE! It sounds a bit odd, but getting into fights and shot on something will improve your gameplay for the next round. You need to lose fights to get better and you should not worry about hunt dollars or your "good" char you got skillled up in the last match. get rid of the fear to loose and the field is yours.
the problem with crosshair placement is that unlike games like csgo, looking at the ground is very important. you need to be able to be aware of traps and other hazards on the ground while moving around.
For console players I highly recommend cranking all sensitivities way down, and then very slowly start working your way up to the point where you are used to a fast sensitivity.
Is it weird if I don’t agree with tip #7? As a console player with an ok aim I tend to find that by constant volume of fire it wastes time I could be using to line up shots that actually hit
Hip fire aiming has always been my biggest criticism of the game especially when it was trying to be more of a hardcore shooter. IMO there should be no reticle for hip fire where you have to use the barrel of your gun for aiming just like in real life, then they could reduce the amount of RNG making it more skill based, Look at Rising Storm as a great example of this mechanic. Alas Hunt has become a weekend warrior spam fest where duel wielding conversion pistol users who are obviously very new players regularly spam me and my partner down within a few bullets from 20 meters away. Hunt has quickly gone from being in a league of its own with its every shot counts gun play to just face in the general direction of your enemy and hold down left click... Its still fun though :)
my golden tip for all games when ure doing your best but start performing badly, rather than keep playing and having a downward spiral of stale shit playing hoping for luck. its better to do this: taking a short break to refresh your mind or just playing music even on a sound important game like hunt can help your instinct juices take over again. reasoning is being too conscious is actually distracting and negative outcomes makes your subconscious distracted by emotion and no longer incentivised and yours expecting failure bringing expectations to reality. i think most toxic people who blame others should especially follow this^ edit: extra tip: try to memorise gun sounds (u can find them also in the main menu ). hear a shot, kill the guy or get killed by him and remember the gun. or hear a shot think the sound 9* out of 10 ure partner will say the gun name.
Well thing is at Long Range I'm a crack shot, but I'm terrible in close quarters. So for me I save fanning and levering for up so close it effectively like if levering worked in iron sights. One time when aiming was failing I started walking fire, took ever round by the one that hit was the one that counted.
I have 650+ hrs in hunt and Consider myself to have quite an insane aim. I would suggest playing game where aim matters way more than anything else. CSGO and RB6 siege are good examples. You could also install "AIMLABS" on steam as its free, When in aim labs set your sensitivity to the same level you have in hunt showdown. You can find out how to get the exact same sensitivity by using google and searching "sensitivity converter" When in AIMLABS practice flicking and spider shot. Anything in aimlabs that has "precision" in the name is the best to train skills that you can bring into hunt as it will help you smash headshots easily. You can train your aim solely in hunt by bringing the silenced pistol and just shooting everything you see instead of using your knife.
Also to add, try to stick to using the same weapons until you master them. I used to use the winfield 24/7 in my first 200 hours and still to this day land nasty headshots on moving players 50+ meters away with it.
Fanning and Levering is a cornered Hunters last hope since the effective range is a maximum of 10 meters. All above that is just pure luck if it's due to a fanning/levering kill.
There is hey god trial where you are in a clock tower with a sniper that is great for practice Also using a silent weapon let's you train on zombies in an actual match I always bring a silence nagant for my warm up match
my biggest tip is, if you are playing other shooters as well, make sure the sensitivity is absolutely the same in all games, so you do not have to relearn each time you switch the game...
I have my on and off days. Truly a game that is always a challenge and keeps me coming back.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
I love how honest you are about your shooting in the end. Great comment and tips !
"Enhance mouse precision" is up there with "I have read the terms and conditions" on the biggest lie in IT.
Oh wow, my mouse feels super clunky now. Probably need to rewire my brain...
holy crap this'll take some getting used to
people leave this shit on? regardless of gaming?
@@hamburgerfatso Unfortunately it gets enabled by default from my own experience.
I cannot imagine playing hunt with a controller.
@idekanymore it's fun, but it makes me jealous watching mouse/keyboard videos on UA-cam haha
I'm very.
@mommymilkers took some time... But finally have it down to where I can do what I want lol
Your humbleness equals your mastery - thanks a lot for this vid, useful and well edited, commented, delivered.
Been waiting for this one 🙏🏻🙏🏻
This was a surprisingly in depth guide, and very accurate 😝
Great video Ascendance. Glad to see still covering Hunt. Im playing more often now and am wanting to learn more
Glad you enjoy it!
Personally the modest players are the ones I want to take advice from, thanks for the guide!
Keep up the great work guys! Would love a custom ammo review
Great! Have you done a video like this for console players?
Nice video man. Love the suggestive voice over the demanding/hype voice any day.
Much appreciated!
I love how honest you are dude. Thanks for tips and gl on the wasteland!
It takes a while to train yourself to use your arm not wrist, it's not easy to switch it up.
I love this channel and the guy in it. This channel got me back into a game
@@4FSGaming Thank you so much! I really appreciate that and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future 🤘🏼
with single shot weapons, which hunt is all about, flick aiming is definitely the way to go. Quick play is a great way to train gunplay, although its no good for bounty hunt movement and tactics. For new players i would recommend play at least 1/3 of your time on quick to build skill, then move to bounty hunt
Love your channel and how humble you are...seen you hit crazy shots live, so definitely know you got the skills, keep it up!
Finnally, the tutorial I was waiting for after >700hrs of gameplay.
Clean and concise as always. Nice work mate.
Thank you! Cheers!
I watched this video when you posted it but i was just beginning in hunt, i also was on xbox.. i ditched my xbox account with 3k kills cuz i got a gaming laptop (:
Now im back to this video because m&k is crazy dawg. I love hunt with all newfound appreciation
Diehard Scoped Sparks user and have a good feel on muzzle velocity but still missing shots here and there. Still learning distances.
Very helpful, very modest. Subscribed
Leading moving targets is the main thing I can't do for shit in this game. The lack of bullet tracers make it really hard to have any idea what you're doing wrong. No idea if I'm under of over leading. The tip of sticking to similar velocity weapons for a while is a good one though I really wish the game had some kind of training range with moving targets.
thanks man i've actually gotten better in the game because my fiance made me watch your vids haha
That 8th tip really says a lot about high level players that use the dolch.
Solid tips. Those that are seeking to improve aim can take quite a bit from this.
the weapon sway is what gets me.
HUGE
Correction: You are indeed good, I’ve seen your streams and it’s not just UA-cam magic
I just warm up with the Lawson Station trial, feels like it’s the closest to offline iron sight training you can get
For me the " Be patient" tip helps alot.
Thanks for all the tips!
0:20 What is happening with the lighting inside the barn?
one thing I recommend, ess this enough, is Training Mode.
Same reason I try to avoid shotguns. Yes, they’re easy to play but I don’t learn how to aim through the iron sights at all.
Hi,any advice for FOV setting?
So idk if it's just me, but some guns seem to hit like a millimeter or two over the front sight post when using irons, so I try aim at the neck or mouth section of the head most of the time. Worked so far for me.
Hearing that you aren't the best shot was how I knew this was going to be useful. People who are naturally good at something make terrible teachers.
Hunt is just like in real life. You may be a bad ass, you may be first to draw. But what matters most is who hits who first....
What?
thank you i have so many tips for his video
Thanks for the great information ℹ️ℹ️ℹ️
Any time!
your tip about the mouse sensevity is right, but maybe you should had mention that this is also something what depends on the person as in any shooter, most people would go crazy when they play with my settings, i barly move my arm for a 360 degree turn but still i can aim really well. maybe also because i have an extra button on my mouse which i use for carefull aim which degress the dpi on my mouse trastigly
Thanks for another great video
Glad you enjoyed!
Question, if I’m strafing side to side, does it affect my accuracy?
It affects the sway of your weapon. So most likely yes. But you are harder to hit yourself. So... it should make up for that.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
There is a mouse settings which increase your turn sense the more you turn. I recommend turning it off (No clue what the simple name is called) it Will feel more natural then
I think that's acceleration
How many kills?
@@Lucaaaa710 around 900 - yeah, having bad aim isn't my only problem ;)
@@tobiasreissenweber2152 whats antoher problem? ok 900 its a bit less for 850 hrs.
Hunt unforgiving. Bit of an understatement there.
Do you play with min graphics to boost your odds? In your vids it almost looks like you're playing with max settings (at least sun light effects are visible, I think). Questions goes also into the round. :)
Frames are more important than graphic quality, other than that foliage is generally equally difficult to see through on any setting.
@@4FSGaming thx for the answer :) I read articles about reducing all effect and light settings to increase the chance to see through mist and green (or even thin walls). But I dislike the principle and could not make out a big difference either. My frames are around 120-144, with high graphics
How about crytek fixes the hitreg
10:06 why did it miss?
Why do you use the small knife? Is it better that the big one now?
Always has been, better for both pvp and pve
@@4FSGaming damn I didnt know thanks for the tip
Really helpful video....:)
Thanks man
Network issues on this game are crazy, make so hard to get good shots
my golden tip for all games when ure doing your best but start performing badly, rather than keep playing and having a downward spiral of stale shit playing hoping for luck.
its better to do this:
taking a short break to refresh your mind or just playing music even on a sound important game like hunt can help your instinct juices take over again.
reasoning is being too conscious is actually distracting and negative outcomes makes your subconscious distracted by emotion and no longer incentivised and yours expecting failure bringing expectations to reality.
i think most toxic people who blame others should especially follow this^
edit: extra tip: try to memorise gun sounds (u can find them also in the main menu ). hear a shot, kill the guy or get killed by him and remember the gun. or hear a shot think the sound 9* out of 10 ure partner will say the gun name.
Thank you :)
Well thing is at Long Range I'm a crack shot, but I'm terrible in close quarters. So for me I save fanning and levering for up so close it effectively like if levering worked in iron sights. One time when aiming was failing I started walking fire, took ever round by the one that hit was the one that counted.
What gun are you using at the end of the video 09:51
1:39 The what? The "Aftermath"?
The Avtomat
Man, I have hundreds of hours in the game, and I've always wanted to do #3, but the prestige carousel makes it so hard to practice consistently.
You can find out how to get the exact same sensitivity by using google and searching "sensitivity converter"
When in AIMLABS practice flicking and spider shot.
There is hey god trial where you are in a clock tower with a sniper that is great for practice
Also using a silent weapon let's you train on zombies in an actual match
I always bring a silence nagant for my warm up match
Two Tipps form my side: Line up your shots before you peak. Ignoriere wooden fences.
my biggest tip is, if you are playing other shooters as well, make sure the sensitivity is absolutely the same in all games, so you do not have to relearn each time you switch the game...
Unless everyones throwing ammo everywhere like crazy, I like to take a breath and hold it for a split sec before firing.
