  • Sometimes new players start using tactics and gear that may seem very strong, but actually puts them at a disadvantage. This guide looks at some of these "noob traps".
    Silenced Weapons
    The Heavy Knife
    The Chain Pistol
    Sniper Towers
    Unnecessarily Killing Sound Traps
    Remember I'm not saying these are always bad, but are associated with mistakes made by new players.

      Haha! It's like my friend who always put super random traps in the middle of a forest or compound even when there's no enemy nearby or that were d9ing the boss and 75% of the time it only gets me, it really pisses me off big time, him and his fu**** traps.

      After prestiging you need to use those traps to unlock things, so I just place them randomly on obvious trails, in the grass, at vaultable fences, bridges, supply points, sniper positions. Damn it feels good to hear that trigger sound followed by death scream.

    Be mindful of what Perks you take, and how they complement your playstyle. Too long to list every one but something REALLY obvious:
    Don't take Quartermaster AND Fanning on the same Hunter. You can't fan any medium/large slot weapons, so no matter what loadout you take, you're wasting a perk.
    Also, if you are concerned about soundtraps, Beastface is your friend for moving quickly and quietly. Light-step and Kiteskin pair beautifully as well, keeping your mobility high.
    And regarding the Silenced Nagant, even with Fanning, it's better to think of it as a Tool. You can potshot grunts and hives, sure, and even Fan some bosses. But it's main utility is misdirection. Assuming you're far enough away from Hunters you're stalking, you can set off distant noise traps like crows or dogs. Or if they're being sneaky, poke that Meathead or Armored, and make their day more interesting. Just remember to have a primary weapon that can handle the rest.

      Counterpoint: abuse the silenced nagants' disgusting hipfire spread and poison ammo to ensure your opponent can't heal and will want to kill themselves if the poison ammo doesn't do it. Additionally, the poison ammo will attract meatheads.

    About killing sound traps I thought you were going to call out that you might want them alive for when other players show up, especially if they totally block off an angle of approach to the boss compound and either have to be triggered or destroyed, making noise, or avoided, funneling other players down more limited paths when they try to come after your banishment.

      I'd say this applies to killing everything in your path too, whether with a silenced weapon or throwing knives or even melee. When I'm stalking a team waiting for the chance to assassinate someone, especially when I'm playing as a solo, it's extremely easy to keep up with them without being detected if they kill the shit out of everything instead of just avoiding what they can. Also gives me the chance at a kill I've been waiting for when they start killing an armored or especially an immolator.

    • @tramrant
      @tramrant 4 роки тому +10

      it has two sides. Sure you'll hear enemies if they trigger kennels, but smarter enemies will trigger them with silenced weapon or decoys and will be coming from the opposite side, and while you will be distracted to the side where dogs barking, dogs will be too loud for you to hear enemy's REAL position from their steps.(you won't hear steps over barking) so you basically leaving yourself deaf to the enemies real position over 1 sound alerttrap, that just won't shut up after they trigger it.

  • @blacksusi
    @blacksusi 4 роки тому +99

    My two tipps are:
    Speed is sometimes more important than stealth; if you are chasing a group of bounty carriers who do a full sprint to the exit, don’t do the extra mile trying to not trigger the crows. They will most likely escape.
    You don’t allways need to melee an AI: Don’t be afraid to shoot the ai if they are messing with you while fighting someone else. If you missing some hits on the group of dogs charging at you and you run out of stamina, shoot them. It’s better to give away your position then dying anyway to them.

    It's important to consider there are different playstyles and making noise isn't always bad. If you can move quickly from compound to compound and get to the clue before others that's fine, so long as you're able to understand the flow of the map and the speed at which other players can get to where you seem to be indicating your going. It may be easier for a new player to play quietly but I see all too many hunters even after a thousand hours think that's the only way to play because that's what they were taught in the beginning.
    This game uses sound heavily and its important to understand that sound can be both a hindrance and a tool to be manipulated. You can avoid it or you can use it to draw in hunters how you want them. Often time we'll make noise in compounds but not between them, which draws teams to that compound allowing us to turn around and third party if we hear them fighting behind us. Everyone's afraid they will make too much noise and get one shot by a sniper who is just watching them but if you move from compound to compound quickly and scout out spawns that are nearest then you should never be caught out early game.

    • @NobleNemesis

      I was just going to comment on how I've had a lot of success just moving very quickly but very carefully from clue to clue. If I hear a lot of action/presence in a match then usually I spritz right in on my first and second clue and use a little more caution by the 3rd, since by this point most players will be closing in around it. Seems to work right most times. Sometimes you get zapped right on the first clue, but sometimes better sooner than later, right? lol
      Doesnt seem like it should take longer than 15 minutes to find a boss, but the time it takes to get out of there safely could take much longer depending on what you want to do with that information; banishing or not.

    I had to learn this the hard way on a few matches, but leaving sound traps intact and AI enemies alive at a boss compound is a GODSEND when getting ready to banish. Odds are that the average random team will try to rush you once you start the ritual, so anything you can use to keep them distracted or give away their position will buy you those extra precious seconds to land a headshot or escape with the bounty.

    My personal pet peve that most new players do is, crouch all the time everywhere, even in combat, to be "stealthy", and tbh I did this alot to when I was new to the game and thsts probably why it triggers me so ^^. Crouching ofc has it's time and place but it's imo super important for new players to learn when not to crouch and when to asap.

    I used to use silenced weapons to help power level those weapon line before I switched to using the duster/knife to weaken enemies then finishing them off with a weapon melee.
    Silenced Nagant is surprisingly effective for general use when you consider it's ammo capacity and how good the sights are (especially compared to the silenced Winfield or sparks). it's also a useful way to trigger immolators near hunters from a fair distance since it doesn't (or didn't at least, haven't had time to play for a bit) make much noise past about 50-60m.

    • @TheNames4lex
      @TheNames4lex 4 роки тому +13

      Depends really, a lot of time the time it's power in numbers. If you are at opposite ends of the compound and someone gets 1v3d then you can get picked off one by one. As well as this, for newer players who don't land many intentional headshots, most guns within med range are two hit downs to the chest (largest hitbox), so if you both hit one target they will almost certainly die. I have over 1000 hours on the game, and the amount of teams iv'e killed just because the team splits up too much is insane. Granted you shouldn't be right on top of eachother, but in my opinion you should be close enough to shoot the same target, if needs be. When you get more confident in your aiming, game sense, and map knowledge, you can split up a bit more.

    While I do agree that the Heavy knife is poorly advertised as a straight upgrade I feel that it has a few positive characteristics that when used effectively can make up for the negatives. First on armoreds you don't need to use a full stamina bar, as 2 heavies and 1 light to the head will bring it down. Second, is the heavy attack has an area of effect meaning you can hit multiple enemies at once. Against dogs I find this can be quite useful if you can bait the pack into attacking as a group you can take them down more quickly than using the normal knife. Finally against hunters there isn't much of a difference if you're going for headshots or if you've already hit the target before going in for the stab, but the heavy knives heavy into light attack feels more consistent for quickly killing hunters than the basic knife. That might just be a preference for the heavy knife hitbox on my part which definitely takes some getting used to. Great video, I look forward to more in the future. :)

      appreciate the counter point on the heavy knife. the beauty of this game is that most items are situational, and its cool to see some of the points you bring up against specific npc/hunters

    • @andrewpotamitis8725
      @andrewpotamitis8725 4 роки тому

      Another issue with the heavy knife is the noise it makes... it makes the same noise as a machete which can be heard across compounds and is very distinct. Having silent killer with a normal knife for example will let you sneak up and one hit grunts with a heavy attack. And the only noise that will be heard assuming you sneak up on the grunt is the death should and body hitting the floor. The heavy knife has its rending slash noise added to its heavy attack that is very loud and if you need to just kill one grunt as you pass through it will be heard by most of the compound and surrounding area unfortunately

    • @heymelon
      @heymelon 4 роки тому +2

      @@andrewpotamitis8725 That's a good point. But why would you use heavy attack on a grunt anyway? The whole point is that you can slash them down with 1 light in the head w/ big knife. And once you need to start spamming heavies say vs an armored I think your position is given away in a compound regardless of which knife it is.

    "Sniper towers are bad"
    Me, a brand new player, who just finished a game where my partner died by lagging out and camped in a sniper tower for 20 minutes, annihilating 2 teams and leaving victorious with the bounty: "I see where you're coming from, but..."
    On the serious note, yes I do recognize that sniper towers are not places to stay at. I lucked out hard by encountering teams who couldn't figure out how to deal with me, but I couldn't leave the tower. I had 4 people staring me down, so my only option was to outgun them, which I somehow did.

    6. Always buying most expensive weapons.
    I found myself without any money at least 2 times. I'm in love with Lebel so I prefer to buy it and play with it basically always, when I have it unlocked.
    If you have really bad luck and can't live long enough to earn some money from bounty, you will end up recruiting new legendary hunters, giving them Lebels/Mosins over and over again and finally spending all your money, so only option to play is taking free recruits with trash weapons or buying them cheapest stuff.

It’s much more important to bring what will give you an edge on other players and maximize your chances of survival as this will grow your economy the fastest.

      except if you don't clear them out, enemies can use those sound traps against you as well. They can trigger your 'cleverly' left out sound trap on purpose on one side, so you'll direct all of your attention to it, like kennels, and while it's 'alerting' while being too loud, you'll miss the enemies steps from where they are really coming, cause you can't hear shit after kennels are triggered. If all compound AI is all dead it's way easier to hear steps, even if they're crouching, than if you leave stomping meatheads, screeching hives, and grunting grunts. Sure you'll hear the initial trigger(which again is not necessary the *real* enemy position) but after trigger, you are basically deaf to enemy further movements.

    • @blame7121
      @blame7121 4 роки тому

      @@tramrant 1. Yes, players can use sound as a lure. But they don't need the AI for that. There is running, jumping, shooting, and two different types of decoy to just direct player focus at a desired direction.
      2. All those sounds have very distinct rhythms, which I don't know about you, but I can hear and separate AI sounds from player sounds. Also if they aggro an AI, they are less likely to crawl around (due to aggroing AI. DUH!), but instead running around/closer to us, which is very easy to hear through the AI noise due to running and jumping being so, so loud.

It can be infuriating when I’m either trying to be stealthy or listen closely to a noise I heard, and all I can hear is my teammate stomping literally 3 steps behind me. But I've been solo in a trios server and taken out 6 hunters in less than 10 seconds with that combo getting pushed by both teams at once XD When I do play with the squad I'm the vanguard assaulting the compound 11 out of 10 times. Spent enough time with the loadout that I can even flick some LONG shot kills with that shotbolt. Even surprise myself sometimes lol

    Not communicating with your team. Honest to god, I made a plan with my team to utilize a sound trap to our advantage. I ran into the boss compound while there was banishment going on, hitting the sound trap on the way in. I opened fire like mad at the boss house and drew the ire of all three hunters inside. Once I had their attention, my partners rushed from another side, both with shotguns, both getting into the building as I lit the place up with tons of noise. A chaos bomb and me opening fire from cover with a fanned chain pistol absolutely hid their approach and three shotgun shots later they were dead. Never, ever underestimate how you can use sound as a weapon. Sometimes you just gotta be loud to be quiet. They can't hear your footsteps if all they hear is gunfire.

    one thing i tell newer players is the important of a poker face, sounds weird... but if you can keep your head level during a situation, you'll pick up on smaller things that'd go unnoticed if you or a teammate is panicking; things like the difference in the sound of footsteps or someone going into darksight. that is also to say also not locking up. seriously, either get the hell out of dodge, or get ready to do so once the fighting starts.

  • @1nfamyX
    @1nfamyX Рік тому

    1:35 yes but also no. Stealth weapons can be used to break windows & scare crows from angles outside of your own approach. Forcing your enemy to waste darksight boost and put guns down could save you & pinpoint them if a teammate is doing it for you.
    2:30 the strongsuit of the heavy knife is that you can use a light attack instead of a heavy, which is a lot quieter overall. Heavy melees can be heard throughout a compound. Its faster as all light vs heavy hits but in essence youre saving yourself getting Silent Killer for 5 trait points in trade for versatility & stamina efficiency.

I can't count how many times I've been swarmed by 5+ grunts or multiple armoreds, and anything that runs you out of stamina in 4 hits or less just doesn't cut it. I haven't tried the knuckle knife too much yet, but that also seems like a good option if you want to conserve stamina but also be able to hit hard.

Not using their consumables: "i wont use this vit shot, i maybe use it later!". Why later is a noob trap? Well, they usually follow some guides or friend advices on consumables and bring right consumables, but they are never using them. So i think new players should use consumables that they don't fear to use. Maybe bring 2 small vit shots and 2 firebombs for 18 dollars. So you still be useful and burn bodies.

I have actually tested all revolvers with fanning, and nagant silencer is equally as imprecise as the chain pistol - yep, it is that bad. Chain pistol and nagant silencer have precisely the same spread.

    • @4FSGaming
      @4FSGaming  4 роки тому

      Crosshair spread is not always an accurate representation of where the bullet will go, the only reliable way to test this is by shooting at a wall. 1.4.1 is mixing this up again so I'll wait till it drops to look at bullet spread on fanning/dual wielding.

    One noob trap I can name is scoped weapons. They're actually harder to shoot than normie iron sights ones in many respects, especially for newer people with poor aim and little understanding of in-game ballistics. On top of that they encourage that scaredy cat playstyle that gets you absolutely nowhere and kills any chance of improving at the game.
    The other one is loadout logic. Your weapon choices should always complement each other in maximum ways possible, and provide you with maximum flexibility. If you're going with a single-shot rifle like Sparks, you need something to cover your close combat base - Officer Nagant or a fanning revolver would be a good choice. Enforcing limits upon yourself before the game even starts is certainly not a good thing to do if you intend to play to win.

    Well i agree with most of the points but there is one weapon that is silent and deadly, the crossbow, the crossbow is actually amazing if you get use to it instakill with shot bolts up to 100+ metres against players if you can hit them, also versatility if you run the hand crossbow you can instantly kill these pve mobs with poison tip bolts, dogs immolators, 2 to 5 grunts grouped together, the assassin, the butcher, husks, armoured husks, and crows are now killable as well much easier and so much quieter. With a poison tippd crossbow you can quickly move through the environment with very little noise. As a bonus you can run half and half now you can run 5 poison bolts and 5 regular bolts and switch while in game. Another thing the hand crossbow at about 30 metres is instant kills hunters if they are hit in the chest.
    The full sized crossbow is instant kill up to 45m to the chest without special bolts, and like the hand crossbow you can run 2 sets of ammo, say you want 6 explosive bolts and 6 shot bolts you can run it.
    The crossbow is under appreciated, however, i have a warning, its not easy to use and will require immense practice to master but if mastered you will be feared when you can fire three shots and instantly kill an entire trio
