The problem with this system is that sony gave up on it very quickly. Almost within a year. The main issue with sales was the price of the storage media. Having to pay over half the price of the console for some of the higher end options was ridiculous.
I only bought my Vita once I saw a bundle for an incredibly cheap offer with a 32gb card included. Otherwise I would only have bought mine when Henkaku was released (and I I bought a second one when SD2Vita was released).
@@diabo69 System updates are only Sony's attempts at blocking piracy. If they don't at least pretend to fix those issues, then the few devs still releasing on the plataform won't bother anymore.
@@LemonRush7777 you are wrong, new system updates from sony just add some performance on the system, cause piracy still working on the last firmware 3.72 ,.
Its so sad how a amazing portable gaming machine like the Vita gets the cold shoulder from Sony. If you are just going to ignore it why not just do right by the community and just open source its development. We can create and port things that take full advantage of its hardware ourselves!
Who knows! They may do that eventually! After-all, they did do something similar with the PS1 (Net Yarozie) back in the day, so anything is possible! You must remember though, at the end of the day, Sony is a company for profit and that is what all companies do when something they create doesn't make money, they shrug it off. I am not saying it is remotely right 100% of the time (especially since the Vita is such a gem of a console) but would YOU invest money into a product that isn't making an acceptable financial return?.. Any smart businessman would answer "No" because it makes no sense to throw your money away. Me personally I have the OG AT&T model I bought near launch day and I have had zero problems with tons of use. It is a great little unit. Internet works well too!
I get the business logic behind it but Its still pretty sad nonetheless. With that said, you can argue that them throwing in the towel as early as it did doomed the console. We have been crying out for more Vita love throughout its entire lifespan. The Gameboy/DS line have proven for years that a portable console with just a few killer apps can snowball into a major success despite always being at least a generation behind hardware wise. The Vita could have had it all if only it had competent software support. My only major gripe with the Vita hardware is the proprietary memory card format they chose to use. If Sony made it the android powered device it was originally rumored to be they wouldn't even have to do much lol.
I completely agree with all of what your saying. It is very sad indeed. Lack of sufficient software support probably did put the console in a very terrible state of being but in all honesty, I really contribute the Vita's failure to the mobile game industry. Sure the 3DS would counter and squash my argument almost entirely but I can at least say this in regarding the Vita... It may be portable but compared to the casual gamers vs actual hardcore gamers their is a clear divide. I would even say that a ton of handheld DS/3DS, PSP/Vita users jumped ship for various mobile games. I am not one of those people (for the most part anyway, I do have 2 mobile games I play I won't lie) but a phone is just much more convenient than hauling around that big widescreen Vita or a flip top screen 3DS. Game's are also much more habit forming on mobile as well. Nevertheless the Vita may be on life support by a few developers but at the end of the day, The world let's the chips fall where they may. i know that Sony is well aware of the fans and in due time they will honor it in some way or another.
Yea, while its been a major success overall even the 3DS has proven to be mortal. Over the last 2 years especially the market has mostly moved away from dedicated portable gaming devices altogether in favor of the now dominate smartphone gaming market. This is the basis behind the NX being a hybrid console rumor as another standalone portable console in 2017 would be illogical even for Nintendo. With Pokemon GO being a mobile game I would say that Nintendo is finally starting to pick up on this too. Hopefully they get that with these 5oz phones being the ultimate swiss army knives of productivity and entertainment, portable consoles are going to need more primary features than just playing games to survive from here on out.
Very true. At the end of the day though, I see these devs who make these high powered 3DS and Vita games eventually being made for the smartphones as they become more powerful. So in a way, the small percentage that is left of the portable market will evolve into mobile. Hell Sony may start making phones and so may Microsoft. Only time will tell.
I just bought the blue Slim and my store has all of my ps1 classic games and everything is in english, literally the only difference I can find is that O is confirm, but not in-game. I think the store is simply based upon who is logged in.
Yeah, I ordered a Japanese Vita a few years ago because they were still selling the OLED versions in Japan after Sony North America discontinued them in favor of the Slims, and all I had to do was log into my US account to shop the US store and sync my trophies. The only thing is that you can’t have more than one account on one system, unlike the PS3 and PS4. Not without restoring the system anyway. Also, you’re stuck with Japanese-style O to confirm, X to cancel.
Sd2vita=3 dolars+micro sd 120 gb 40 dolares also bether than the original sd card. Dont mean you will use piracy but you can expand you memory and use originals .
Yep. Also the vita had a bunch of ps2 game collections like God of War 1 & 2, so it would have been amazing if they made a gta collection with gta 3, vice city, and san andreas
I wish they'd just bring back the damned VCS, but NOOOO, we, a million dollar company can't pay our damn copyright bills. At least Chinatown Wars is good
Time really does fly... I remember that this video was one of the reasons that got me into buying a PlayStation Vita... And I couldn't be happier about it since the thing has become, alongside the Nintendo DS, my favorite handheld game system ever (also, thanks to this video I met and started following you, MJR, and Kelsey too, so I'm pretty fond of it). So yeah, even if it's obvious by now, getting a PlayStation Vita will always be worth it, so if anyone reading me has the chance of obtaining one, don't doubt about it and do it, I believe you won't regret it at all. 😊
Hell yeah. I have both a Vita, and a 2DS with custom firmware stuff going on. I have a TON of PSX, PSP, and Vita games, along with RetroArch, and a bunch of ports like the 3 PS2 GTA games, Max Payne, and Bully. And then I have a 2DS with around 200 or so original DS games, a handful of virtual console games, and probably a good 50 or so 3ds games. Between the two handhelds, I'm set for life.
I've owned a 1000 model two times before and absolutely loved it, unfortunately I had to sell them. Thinking of getting one again but can't decide between a 1000 and a 2000, any tips?
@@ricecrispyman1582 If you're still deciding, the 1000 models are more reliable, they are built better and use hall-effect sticks which are more resistant to the drift issue.
It's a shame that the PS Vita failed, I would really like Sony to still make handhelds, though. The Vita was an excellent system, Sony just didn't do a very good job at marketing it and the memory cards were overpriced.
Zaaki Seedat I’ve still got the old one and I think it’s brilliant I’ve just taken it out of its box and wow it looks so cool I’d forgotten that it looked so good it’s a black one I like playing films on it thinking of getting a Vita I think it looks way better then the switch👍👍.
Found this video in 2021 it’s crazy how much more complicated the Vita has gotten since the digital store drama. Regardless I still bought an Oled model and am excited to jump in! crazy how these videos are still relevant and helpful years later for new buyers/collectors
I was on the fence about buying one for the longest time. This past weekend, I walked past a second hand original model with the OLED screen for USD100 in really good condition. I had to buy it. Funny how things play out different from what you expect. Uncharted, which I thought I'd love, instead irritated me. Wipeout 2048 demo - which wasn't even on my radar- blew me away. Playing Killzone Mercenary is as smooth and intuitive as I thought it would be. I'm having so much fun looking for game deals now. And the OLED screen is amazing. I bought a new 2018 LCD IPS panel phone that I really like. The fact that this 2011 dinosaur tech handily outperforms my 2018 phone screen is impressive.
I feel like I'm one of the very few ppl that actually prefer the LCD screen (note: I have never seen the OLED screen in person, only from videos and reviews and commentaries on the internet). I feel like it's underrated like the AGS-001 for GBA SP. But I do like the bulkier, more serious look of the 1000. Mostly interested in the hatsune miku edition even though I normally don't even bat an eye at special/limited editions with messy artwork on them (only because my inner miku fanboy is calling me this time). The red and plain white versions are also cool and I might just get the red one in the future, or the white one with miku stickers slapped on it lol.
i agree, and I already own a New 3DS XL + PS Vita Slim + Nintendo Switch + Samsung Galaxy S6 Phone + Samsung Galaxy Tab 10....so I've got several portable machines - all worth it - to each their own though.
No mention of LittleBigPlanet Vita? It took everything that the PS3 games had, and improved on the concept and still managed to maintain the same level of graphics at 30 FPS.
SquidTheSid Ah, that's the reason why I'm getting the Vita until the end of this year, japanese and indie games are my jam, but it's a shame what happened here on the west, at least with the Switch becoming so popular it seems more and more people are looking at the Vita once again, it's quite funny
To clarify, if you import a Japanese Vita, you do have access to the North American PSN store. I have the Toukiden PS Vita system that I imported and I download all the PSN content from the U.S. store without issue. The ONLY difference is that the "X" and "O" button are swapped in the system settings.

It was dead until the hackers successfully hacked the system so u can play homebrews and vita roms on it. I bought a fat vita and ordered a motherboard from china so I can swap it with a lower firmware. Cost me less than 130 bucks and I even got 2 shitty football games with the 2nd hand vita. THose I can just sell and get a part of my investment back
we need more people advertising how good the vita is. Yes it has flaws ... and yes it did not sell very well, but man is it an awesome system. it doesn't deserve the flak it gets.
aie the biggest and honestly only real flaw ... we need some super awesome hacker to figure out how to get cheaper versions to work. id 100% buy someone where to make a cheap alternative.
That math is way off. You didn't consider the fact that anyone is allowed to watch this video. I've watched some lion videos. I don't own a lion, and I'm not a lion. The views are from all sorts of people, with or without a Vita. XD
The Vita is pretty much a mobile ps4. The party chat crosses platform. So you can talk to ps4 players while you're on Vita. Damn shame it failed. I love my 1000
@Venom Snake lags terribly? vita is pretty much the only option to play mgs3 and mgs2 as portable and it's locked 30fps it doesn't need overclock you're probably one of the people who has started off mgs series with 5 Vita is definitely the best handheld for retro gaming go spread your shitty PC mustard race nonsense and hatred around somewhere idiot
Keep bringing Kelsey on. You are both awesome and I really enjoy her perspective as well as yours on games, gaming, and gaming culture. Very honest and authentic in your passion and expression of any opinion you guys have on these subjects. Awesome job!!!!!
I recommend the PlayStation TV/PS Vita TV because you can use it to play PSP and PS Vita games on your TV with an existing PS3 or PS4 controller. Plus, you can also plug a PS3/PS4 arcade stick into the PS TV/PS Vita TV and use it to play Tekken 6 (PSP), Dead or Alive 5 Plus, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter x Tekken or any other fighting games for it.
Got my vita a month ago, off of eBay for parts. I fix consoles, and normally can diagnose problems with consoles, and this time it was no different. I got it for $30 with a charger and refurbish Sony box. Best purchase ever, I would pay over $100 again to play my games.
I found a couple 32 gb memory cards at a local game store for $64 each. Still stupid expensive. With that kind of money, you can buy a larger microSD card, screen protector and case for the Vita.I went and hacked my Vita and got a 256GB card put in. Arguably the best handheld ever.
Guacamelie,GRIM FANDANGO,SOUND SHAPES,ROGUE LEGASY,THE BINDING OF ISAAK,SOULS SACRIFICE DELTA,FEZ,RISK OF RAIN,OLLIO OLLI 1/2,SEVERED,SPYRO TRILOGY,etc.
Just as a Heads up the store is connected to your account, so even if you have a Japanese PS Vita if your account is a US/NA Account you get the NA Store. However on the Japanese PS Vitas there are several menus where the o and x buttons are swapped. That is hard-coded into the firmware so you can't change it. Only for some screens though (my theory is the original system menus are like that because of the firmware but updates and additions downloaded to the memory card are not because of the selected region). Anyhow from the store I suggest the Disgaea series (three PSP releases and two vita), all of the Persona games (2 PS1 releases, 2 PSP releases, and Obviously Golden for the vita), and Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines: a cool rpg with a English physical release in Asia (very rare and can be confused with the Asia Japanese physical release, digital only in the US). The Vita is also a really good console for importing however you have to sift through a massive amount of Visual Novels. Check out importing: Airship Q, @Field, AT/IV, and Bullet Girls for starters; there is plenty more though. Anyhow cool video and happy collecting.
Yeah, I think a lot of people overlook this because of the cutesy graphics, thinking it is a kid's game. It makes great use of the touch feature and is a reasonable challenge.
How isn't Gravity Rush in the main list or the honorable mentions? It's an original IP made specifically for the Vita (and only recently came out as a HD remaster for the PS4), and it's generally regarded as one of the more solid IPs on the system. I don't understand why you'd give so much room for multiplats, remasters and digital download ps1-games, when you skip out on one of the few original IPs on the Vita that definitely deserves a mention.
Bought a Japanese Vita, the PSN store is linked to account location not where the device is from I access my account and also the USA store no problem.
And to combat piracy, but didn't know about making up money for the OLED screens. I shouldn't be surprised considering it was to good to be true for only $250 for such a screen.
same i just got a red one, what i understand is that since my PSN Account is from the USA I will get the USA store to download all the english games typically found there. but if i wanted the japanese store options id just have to make a japanese psn account
I got mine a couple months ago, and I'm loving it. I have custom firmware on it with a micro SD card adapter, using a 256gb card. I have a ridiculous amount of PSX, PSP, and Vita games on it. I have unofficial ports of GTA3, VC, SA, Bully, and Max Payne. And I have emulators. Not to mention plugins for remapping controls, changing the Vita's clock speed, skipping the little swipe when turning the console on or leaving sleep mode, custom bubble icons for my PSX and PSP games, auto-switching my volume depending on if I have headphones in or not, an entire cheat menu to screw around with. I love it. The Vita is bananas. And to think, when it first came out, everyone I heard talk about it, and what I thought myself, is that it was just "a PSP with a second analog stick". I always assumed it was literally just another version of the PSP, like the PSP GO, but with a second stick that a few games *might* use.
Really great video! What I think Sony should’ve done was try to fit more PS3 games on the PSVITA; though the graphics would be a minor lower quality, the graphics do not define the quality of a game, it is the depth and effort put into a game💯
Great video for a great system. Just one thing that wasn't mentioned, and there are probably already comments about this, but you can store Vita games on a PC or PS3 and effortlessly and quickly transfer them to Vita using the charge cable, and vice versa. So while the memory cards are way too expensive, you don't really have to worry about running out of space once you own one.
I just got my Vita cause of this video, and I'm so glad I did. Can't wait to build up my collection. Memory card cost was ridiculous, but at least the games are small.
Travis Duncan Thanks. Neither have I. I've built a decent collection already, and play it pretty constantly. There's something about handheld gaming I just really like.
8:09 watching this to see what are some good games since I just bought my first vita a couple of weeks ago and am so glad how far it’s come. I got an adapter for my vita and slid in my 512 gb SD Card that used to be on my switch oled (sold it because I never used it and was really bored with the game selection), btw love your videos!!! Always check out your channel when I’m curious about older games or things I’ve never seen. Of course as well when looking for what games I should buy!

The Ratchet and Clank Trilogy 8. Borderlands 2 9. Resistance Burning Skies 10. MXGP motocross. I handpicked all these games and love this list :) its a great mix of puzzle, FPS, racing and RPG games.
@@pkerry12 too bad you miss out a great game. It is not like other visual novels. It is a long shot, but if you play Ace Attorney before, this is similar to that.
@metaljesusrocks, I would loooooove it if u did an updated Vita video. There are quite a few of us vita super fans out here and I would love to get a rundown of where yourself and the crew's collections stand, at this point. Also does anyone know if Sony has announced how long they are going to support it?
I've had my vita since release and still to this day love using it. Granted I've modified it and use it more for retro gaming anymore; I still actively use it regularly.
Got the Vita on your recommendation, and I love it! Also picked up the PS TV and was blown away by how good Vita games look on a fifty inch HDTV. Dragon's Crown and Sky Force both look gorgeous, and I suspect many other Vita titles will too. Plus, the PSTV is a joy to control with Dualshock 3 and 4 controllers. Any chance you could do a video on the Playstation Vita TV itself, MJR?
Great Video!! I went straight out and got a second hand Sony Ps vita in mint condition with oled screen, courtesy of Kelsey's recommendation, from Game UK for £100 and I know the manager who gave me a free 16gb memory card, when I opened the box there was another 16gb card and 8gb card hiding in there!! Woop Woop!! Downloaded Persona 4 Golden for £6.99 from the UK PSN store, Very happy, Thanks for the advise and guide, defiantly recommend your videos to anyone out there, top-notch' stuff Guys :)
Idk what Kelsey was talking about but I’ve had 3 Japanese Vitas, all signed into my NA account. Was able to access the North American PS Store still in April 2023 and even download my purchased games like Ps1 Classic I bought off of PS3 Aeons ago
i had literally zero intention of buying a vita when i started watching this. i just watch yalls videos because of yalls personalities, and yall always have a smile on your faces, which i love! now i want a vita too haha
Got my vita about a year ago purely for borderlands 2, the metal gear solid HD collection and peace walker. I do a lot of travelling by train for work and these keep me going on long distance travelling. The battery life is also pretty good. Picked up mercenaries, mortal kombat, tekken, soul caliber, gangs of London, final fantasy x, monster hunter and tons of other games that I can't remember. I came to the party a bit late but really can't understand how sony could screw the vita up. It is awesome and deserved far more than it got. The memory card issue is pretty stupid and Sony should just have released an adapter to allow use of sd cards to fix it when it became obvious that it was a stupid move to have made. Thanks for a great video. Long live the vita
I thought the opposite of Golden Abyss. The touch screen for all the discovery and treasures you did were very unique and pretty well used. My problem though was having the touchscreen during the actual action of the game. Like balancing the whole damn Vita to not fall off a log or using the touch screen for hand to hand fights. This was especially frustrating in the finale on crushing.
I just got a vita slim in just about perfect shape, 8 game cards and a 32gb vita card...for $75 :D. The games are: Need for speed 2x Injustice Assassin's Creed III Borderlands 2 Walking Dead Mortal Combat Marvel Vs. Capcom III

I was on the fence for a second hand Vita, and the thing that put me off was the price of the memory cards... having to pay the same for a memory card as the Vita costs, it's just stupid!! They probably opted away from the Pro Duo sticks of the PSP because there are adapters to use MicroSD cards on them. But Sony has a habit of making proprietary stuff and charging the earth for it (Betamax, Minidisc, UMD, Memory Stick Pro, etc...) and it usually tends to end up being a flop in the end!!
It's a shame, the Minidisc was a good concept for example in a car, where you could change discs on the move without the fear of scratching them or smudging then with finger marks like CDs suffered from. Now with MP3 that's pretty obsolete, but that, and the ability to record to them like with cassettes at the time was pretty good!! Maybe a UMD is nothing more than a stripped down Minidisc to make them cheaper to produce
I recently got a used vita and it said that I would not come with a card and gues what it did. The previous owner forgot to take it out. It's was only 8 gb though but still.
Here in Europe they have a nasty tendency of remembering to remove the memory cards, and a used standalone Vita for under $100 is considered a bargain. Yes, I could get one from the US, but I would have to pay all the import duties and extremely high postage and it works out the same in the end!!! Not so cheap collecting on this side of the pond :'( That's why my factory sealed Hannah Montana PSP (old leftover shop stock) was such a bargain at €45, where as over there you could probably get it for $15!!
i still have a PSVita today, bought it not very long ago actually. Got a new shell for it, installed Henkaku, and i love it to heck. i've got all my PSP , SNES, GB , GBA games on it
Great video, but I'm disappointed 'cause you didn't really said that Vita is has an awesome indie games library, which is a good point for people not really into jrpg's. I list a few here, but there's so much upcoming too: Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy, Nuclear Throne, FEZ, Titan Souls, Rogue Legacy, Malicious Rebirth, Bastion, Axiom Verge, LUMO, Steamworld Dig/Heist, Downwell, Risk of Rain, Teslagrad, Hatoful Boyfriend, Olli Olli 1&2, Hotline Miami 1&2, Spelunky, Guacamelee, Dustforce DX, Don't Starve Giant Edition, Octodad, Retro City Rampage, The Swapper, LIMBO, Proteus, Pix The Cat, Rocketbird, Stealth Inc 1&2, Terraria, Minecraft. Really, I couldn't let this pass, there are so many pearls on it. I highly thank you though for bringing a little more attention on PS Vita.
As a wise person once said - "If they won't make good, expensive and new games on the Vita like GTA and Shenmue, then make shitty and cheap ones that look like Atari 2600 games" or something like that.
Just bought a near mint PS Vita 1000 and a good condition blue PSP 3000 from Japan!! I'm gonna buy a Vita 2000 next! Used to have a psp 3000 but someone stole it. Im so damn excited I always wanted the Vita and im glad i'll have my beloved psp 3000 again.
Saman Mahjoob , So I just bought a Japanese PS Vita... I was all pissed after watching this, but I can change the region from Japan to the online store to the United States? How do you do that?
The region of the PSN store is bound to your account. So if you use an American account you will only be able to access the American PSN and vice versa.
Since this video's release, Vita cart manufacturing ended in early 2019 (in US and EU), as a result LRG has slowed releases (and will eventually halt). At some point, I would like to see a close out of Vita game top picks of all time (at least across US and EU regions for the time being).
I’ve just bought a MINT like new Vita 3G today for £90!!! The seller didn’t realise how cheap they sold it for by the time I collected it but they honoured the price :) I had a Vita from launch back in Feb 2012 but sold it after so many years, and I missed it so much. Can’t wait to start building a fresh vita collection!
@@trickyrat483 Reckon they’ll continue to climb to be honest! Such a desirable console right now especially after the previous store closure announcement. Hope you enjoy yours buddy! What sort of games you holding so far?
The store-lock info is wrong. I have a japanese vita (model 1000) and can access the german store with my normal german account. Problem with the japanese vita is, on some games and in the UI, the X and O buttons are reversed.
AwesomeCrabman No. But you can change the store region. You can change the X and O button in the vita settings but then in some games the layout is wrong. You should leave it as it is.
Uncharted was great on this system. I loved how everything was used. Brushing stuff off got a little annoying. At one point you had to hold the vita up to a light to read something. That was brilliant
If the vita got the same love the PSP did it would have been glorious. It's a very great handheld but no love from sony especially with it's trash memory cards. I love the vita and own a modded one. Tearaway is most likely my favorite game.
For the PS TV, it should be noted that PS TV compatibility had to be enabled by the game's dev in order to run. A lot of games won't run arbitrarily HOWEVER as long as it's firmware 3.60* and below it can be jailbroken really easily and you can install a whitelist which will allow you to play all vita games without restriction. This hack can also allow you to store and play games from a usb stick or external hard drive, instead of needing their outrageously overpriced memory card. Google "PS TV HENKaku tutorial" to find instructions on how to do it. This will essentially make the PS TV a full fledged vita console for your television, allowing you to play any of the games though some of the games that require touch controls will not work. * If you update your firmware over version 3.60 you can no longer jail break it and you can't downgrade to older firmware. It's important to disable any auto-update in the device if you plan on getting a jailbreak or if you've already jailbroken it. From what I understand, the PS TV was never manufactured with firmware over 3.60 installed, so a brand new PS TV should work fine. If you need to upgrade from a firmware older than 3.60 there are instructions out there on how to do it manually, again do not do it automatically through the device as it will upgrade to the newest firmware and make it impossible to jail break.
You don't even need to mod it you can just do a whitelist hack that doesn't have a chance of bricking or getting banned that enables all games. LOVE using an extenal pendrive for mine tho...
i love when you two make videos together, kelsey is so gorgeous and cute, and you two are charismatic in different ways and complement each other perfectly, plus i love how passionate you are about games but seem to prefer completely different genres--gives it an all encompassing look at a systems game, great work, work together more :)
Previously I ignored this video, but after ordering my Vita from CEX I'm all over this!!! Currently waiting for it to arrive TOMORROW!!! Yes I am excited! Also just bought Tearaway for £8 from CEX, was cheaper than ebay!
Indeed, the Vita IS region-free for accessing the store. However, you can't switch back and forth easily like you do on the PS3. You need one memory card per PSN Store account, so if you download a demo from the Japanese PSN, you can't play it with your US PSN account (but still can access it with a separate account), unlike the PS3. That's exactly what I do (but with a separate Vita that I got second hand for cheap) -- my main Vita has my main PSN account and is used for all my physical games, regardless of region, while my backup Vita is set on my JP PSN account to access Japanese store demos (like Dragon Quest Heroes II...) and themes, as well as JP PSN-bought PS1 games (Japan-only shooters like Cotton). But if you own only one Vita, you still can do that, but with separate memory cards linked to each account.
lol regarding the memory cards, i remember the first day i got my PS2 and having to run to best buy to spend 50$ on a lousy memory card so i could save my game...
I got the Vita on launch day when I was 12, I begged my mom to get it for me, and she did and I was so grateful, she got me little deviants to go with it and that was fun for a bit. And on a completely unrelated note around this time like the Christmas before this, I got a PS3 specifically to play a brand new game which was a sequal to an instant ps3 classic, little big planet 2 (and one, I got them both and a bunch of little accessories themed around it, and it was a wonderful time) and one thing I was really looking forward to on the PS3 was ps2 backwards compatibility................ I had got a slim...... No ps2 backwards compatibility of any kind at all... I was very let down because I had all these wonderful games on the PS2, most notably the Kingdome hearts games, which I now had to get up and switch everything over anytime I wanted to play one or the other and me being a little kid, with ADHD no less, its safe to say I just played little big planet all the time. And now back to the original point of this, I got my psvita..... On launch day...... Because I love little big planet..... And at this time there wasn't a little big planet game for it which I felt like I was lied to about since it was in their commercials for it all the time, but whatever, because the psvita has remote play with PS3!....... Oh wait...... PS3 remote play is.... Practically non-functional, just the same as remote play for psp, just this time even more of a let down..... Ok..... You bet your sweet ass I got little big planet Vita before it even came out, it has a soft launch before the official launch and I got it, narrowly made it to the gamestop before they closed (which is to say they essentially locked the door in my face and I was crushed and my mom told me to go stand in the window with a sad face and then they let me in, bless the fella who let me in, he was cute, he was my hero that day) and finally after all those years of lies and deception, I could finally play the full fat little big planet experience on Vita. Yes I had the psp version which was fun but I found the create mode to be limited, because at that time I didn't understand that you can make advanced logic very easily, I was convinced that what little big planet 2 did was not possible in lbp1 or psp. I thought that the only way they made such advanced levels in little big planet 1 or psp was because they could develop them on a computer to do things we couldn't, like those big boss fights for example, I had always wanted to make one of those, or at least a little lock and key puzzle, a little explanation would have gone a long way, and also another thing I should mention is that at this time I was also obsessed with a game called portal, and I really wanted to play stuff like that but you couldn't activate the respawn gates remotely like you could in the other games on the psp version, so I was excited as shit for that as well, I played the heck out of that stuff on lbp2, it kicked ass to me, and I still love that little brown puffball to this day. Same with portal and kingdom hearts, my formative games here lady's and gentleman, and I was hit with the bullshit stick Everytime. And while I'm here, I'll talk about excited I was when they came out with a little big planet game on PS4, I got a PS4 that year, and let me tell you I love that thing, I mean I even got the PS3 version, yeah sure little big planet 3, especially after the 10th playthrough and no way to play the PS3 game, because my PS3 controller was broken by some little shit who I trusted my controller to, and I now, to this day don't have a working PS3 controller, and for some reason don't didn't think it important enough to have better backwards comparability with the PS4 controller, so now I'm sol in a great many games, lots of games won't even function with out a proper PS3 controller. So Sony, I love you, and thanks for making the ps5 backwards compatible with at least one goshdarn system, and thanks for making your lastest "not little big planet" on PS4 as well as ps5 including a free upgrade, but unless you bring the big guns, I think I'm gonna stick to PC, because on PC, I don't need to developers permission to play the game how I want, if I want to stream a game, even if it is from the mesazoic era, I can play it, if I want to run a game from the n64 at 4k 60fps in VR, by God I can do it, if I want to just make a good but unstable game functional, that's right, I can do that, hell, if I want to just skip the middle man and make my own goshdarn games, CAN, WILL, AND AM. And if those company's who chose your platform over the other because that's just what Japanese audiences played on and they in fact didn't give crap on weather it's you specifically, and those are the company's I like, and they go somewhere else? Do you know who you're talking to? I got a switch on launch day, I was a million steps ahead of your obnoxious a$$. Hell, I was so gung ho about playing big games on handheld that I got a Wii u the year it came out for Christmas, it replaced my psp/PS3 remote play UA-cam and p@rn setup easy, no problem. And when I can get my hands on a steam deck, I won't need any of you console makers anymore. Frick Nintendo for spoon feeding us legacy titles, frick Sony for lying to me for so many years back when it really mattered, and frick Xbox, period, you got no good exclusives that I would wanna play, you just Leach off of the multiplats, and when you do try to buy up a smaller developer in hopes of having their future success money, you just run them into the ground with your crappy corporate nonsense, you did it to rare, some how Minecraft survived but that's the exception not the rule, yeah you helped out cuphead and let them port it to the switch, thank you btw, but I just know that youre gonna fuck up bethesda, because they're too big to be taken as lightly as they did cuphead and Minecraft, Elder scrolls has a long and deeply rooted cultural significance, the risk of doing it wrong is going to weigh on them, and they're gonna try and cut every corner to minimize the risk, and in the process take all the elderscrolls out of elderscrolls 6, there gonna play pandering corporate suit and fall flat on their faces, wondering why it didn't do well, and I feel like they're just going to think that it's the property and just put it in the same box in the attic that banjo and kazooie are kept in. Imagine that, fallout and elder scrolls being in the same class as banjo kazooie. Because Microsoft couldn't figure out how to just let the artists work. Because folks, games are art, art is supposed to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, or even just look pretty, or cool or whatever, and games do all of that. And I'm here for it. And I hope that I can one day leave my mark on gaming culture, but face it folks, lots of these companies are going to treat them like Nickelodeon treats shows that don't get SpongeBob ratings in its first season, or Netflix, and then just take them down for legal reasons or just because. You can't trust them, I dont. I don't trust game publishers with these works of art, they need to be preserved, not delisted never to be seen again because the financial risk would be too great to flip a switch back on.
I read it all. It was amazing. And yes, don't ever trust those companies, they treat good games like money cows and not for the art they are, better to just show hem how a game is done. By the way, I just bought a vita today and now I know what game to look forward to- little big planet (I knew that game was good news the first time I saw it). I played some of the first little big planet and loved it but my sister told me bad things about it and didn't play no more, but now I will just get invested in it when I get my vita. And after I mod my vita, I will play Jack and Daxter, and some of the god of war games, with the added bonus of some of the titles I couldn't play- back in the day- because I didn't have money. Have a great day, fellow adhd friend.
Otherwise I would only have bought mine when Henkaku was released (and I I bought a second one when SD2Vita was released).
in some way yes sony did giv aways psvita, but not at all cause system updates are stil comming out ..

Mistake in the video: I have a Japanese Vita, and the online store is not the Japanese store. It's the same region as my PS account (New Zealand).
Same for Australia. No problems at all
I just bought the blue Slim and my store has all of my ps1 classic games and everything is in english, literally the only difference I can find is that O is confirm, but not in-game. I think the store is simply based upon who is logged in.
Yeah same here, I bought a blue one and such its linked to account region not region its from..

No mention of LittleBigPlanet Vita? It took everything that the PS3 games had, and improved on the concept and still managed to maintain the same level of graphics at 30 FPS.
Just shows what the Vita is capable of.
SquidTheSid It is to show how many great games there are that, even with all they showed, there are more to see
SquidTheSid Ah, that's the reason why I'm getting the Vita until the end of this year, japanese and indie games are my jam, but it's a shame what happened here on the west, at least with the Switch becoming so popular it seems more and more people are looking at the Vita once again, it's quite funny

How isn't Gravity Rush in the main list or the honorable mentions? It's an original IP made specifically for the Vita (and only recently came out as a HD remaster for the PS4), and it's generally regarded as one of the more solid IPs on the system. I don't understand why you'd give so much room for multiplats, remasters and digital download ps1-games, when you skip out on one of the few original IPs on the Vita that definitely deserves a mention.

i just got mine and in 2021 this is still a great device. the library is huge when you include ps1 and psp games, love it ❤️
I got mine a couple months ago, and I'm loving it.
This channel is so old school and wholesome. Never change.
Really great video! What I think Sony should’ve done was try to fit more PS3 games on the PSVITA; though the graphics would be a minor lower quality, the graphics do not define the quality of a game, it is the depth and effort put into a game💯
TLOU on Vita! Maybe one day a fan can do something.
Memory card cost was ridiculous, but at least the games are small.
you can build a really great collection pretty cheap !
Never regretted my purchase. Welcome to the fold!
Travis Duncan Thanks. Neither have I. I've built a decent collection already, and play it pretty constantly. There's something about handheld gaming I just really like.
Don't miss Dragons Crown ! Amazing game
Gamers I watched a trailer, and it looks really good. Thanks for the heads up. I'll play anything by Atlus, anyway.
I clicked on this vid just to see if they'll bring up Danganronpa, I'm glad for that.
But they only brought up the first one, and they incorrectly said it's title

8:09 watching this to see what are some good games since I just bought my first vita a couple of weeks ago and am so glad how far it’s come. I got an adapter for my vita and slid in my 512 gb SD Card that used to be on my switch oled (sold it because I never used it and was really bored with the game selection), btw love your videos!!! Always check out your channel when I’m curious about older games or things I’ve never seen. Of course as well when looking for what games I should buy!
His nervous laugh makes me lol. Uh hu hu hu.
My Top 10 games I love on the vita are
1. Uncharted: Golden Abyss
2. Wipeout 2048
3. Ys Viii: Lacrimosa of Dana
4. Need for Speed Most wanted
5. Tearaway
6. KillZone Mercenary
7. The Ratchet and Clank Trilogy
8. Borderlands 2
9. Resistance Burning Skies
10. MXGP motocross.
I handpicked all these games and love this list :) its a great mix of puzzle, FPS, racing and RPG games.
Mxgp so rare now
Jonah Wilson i hate visual novels
@@pkerry12 too bad you miss out a great game. It is not like other visual novels. It is a long shot, but if you play Ace Attorney before, this is similar to that.
When you said sly cooper hd was on the vita I was like “I NEED ONE NOW!!!!”
Granted I've modified it and use it more for retro gaming anymore; I still actively use it regularly.
the graphics are pretty good on vita... I use it for moonlight streaming these days and man it works great
Got the Vita on your recommendation, and I love it!
"We are going to go Vita crazy here.". Surely you mean la VITA loca.
James Hewitt haha lucky
I have a Japanese vita that I bought during my last trip to Japan and I CAN access and DL games from the Australian PSN store
Ps vita is like oh no body cares when it first came out and then now people realize they've over looked it
wish it gets enough momentum that sony will revisit the system. SO PEOPLE BUY BUY BUY ITS A GREAT!
it was still greater than the wiiu and 3ds
I haven't bought it because of the high price.
***** it outsold 3ds and wiiu plus it's more powerful than the wiiu

I always wanted to have a PS Vita since I was like 10 years old and I still really want one now.
Same bro its really my dream console
I thought the opposite of Golden Abyss. The touch screen for all the discovery and treasures you did were very unique and pretty well used. My problem though was having the touchscreen during the actual action of the game. Like balancing the whole damn Vita to not fall off a log or using the touch screen for hand to hand fights. This was especially frustrating in the finale on crushing.
I just got a vita slim in just about perfect shape, 8 game cards and a 32gb vita card...for $75 :D.
The games are:
Need for speed
2x Injustice
Assassin's Creed III
Borderlands 2
Walking Dead
Mortal Combat
Marvel Vs. Capcom III
Would you say its worth it in 2019
Where did you buy it
@@AnarchiacTV just picked up mine gonna jailbreak mine it gives it full access to all vita games ps1 psp ds snes nes few others not to mention some big homebrews
@@AnarchiacTV Definitely worth it, I just hacked mine and you can download all PSP games, PS1 games, Vita games, Nes and Snes with many more games/features. Coupled with my 128gb micro sd card. You cannot go wrong. If you do buy one, make sure the firmware is under 3.68.
AnarchiacTV yes I’d say it’s worth buying in 2019 as I still play on my till this day
I was on the fence for a second hand Vita, and the thing that put me off was the price of the memory cards... having to pay the same for a memory card as the Vita costs, it's just stupid!!
Ah yes, the Minidisc. I remember it well.
Not so cheap collecting on this side of the pond :'(
That's why my factory sealed Hannah Montana PSP (old leftover shop stock) was such a bargain at €45, where as over there you could probably get it for $15!!
i got my used vita 1000 from game for £79.99
i still have a PSVita today, bought it not very long ago actually. Got a new shell for it, installed Henkaku, and i love it to heck. i've got all my PSP , SNES, GB , GBA games on it

Wow metal jesus. i have to say that you are underated. you deserve much more subs
I love the part where Kelsey wants to delve into the depths of 'romance games for girls' and Jason clearly just wants to leave the room lol
+MrPikaPwnage Shenmue 3 coming to the PSVita lol
the reason metal Jesus left alot of those indie games out of his list is because I think he's doing games that have 'physical' copies...

The Vita is just oozing with content!
Yeah, I've just grabbed a mint one for £125, so they are definitely going up in price. Seen some "new" ones for crazy money (£250-£500).

@@4Morfius you have to have a certain update. It's like 3.6 up to 3.7 don't quote me on it.
gespin gondula vita.hacks.guide
This comment should be edited just in case for more awareness. All current VITA versions/vita tv versions are hackable via h-encore.

I have a Japanese Vita hooked up to the UK PlayStation Store. It's easy to change over
Same with my Japanese Vita TV
yeah she screwed up on that part^^
yeah I have Japanese blue slim model, and using UK store too
I know something else she can screw.
I bought a PS vita a few months ago and I love it.
If you see this i am thinking on getting won is it still good to play ?
@@williethakidjr80 It is amazing. I have both the Switch and the Vita. Both are great but I use the Vita far more.

Enjoy!
