  • The BEST Vanilla Cake Recipe: this delicious, moist and fluffy vanilla cake covered in a perfectly creamy vanilla buttercream is beyond easy to make and a total crowd pleaser! It's one of my most popular cake recipes and it's so easy to make!!
There's a FULL cake decorating tutorial at the end of this video showing you how to smooth that buttercream, clean the edge and add a flower crown!
    Full Recipe: preppykitchen....
    SOME TIPS
*If you’re not using 6-inch pans, double the recipe for 8-inch pans or triple the recipe for 9-inch pans.
*Raspberry juice will give a beautiful soft pink color with no food coloring.
*If you see little clumps of butter after you mix the wet ingredients don’t panic, it all works out by the time you mix in the dry ingredients. *You can even use melted butter and warm the milk and sour cream up a bit if you like.
*You can substitute whole milk yogurt for the sour cream if desired, I do it all the time and can’t really tell the difference.
*To get FLAT layers that are moist inside and out try using cake strips! You can buy a set online, or make your own from foil and paper towels at home. I made a whole blog post on it so check it out if you’re interested!
*If you like a less sweet frosting try my Italian or Swiss meringue buttercream recipes! They’re Creamy, dreamy and oh so delicious.

I'm a new baker and I've made this cake recipe like 6 times, some w different extracts and it has always been pretty good. However, I made this again for Thanksgiving(as is) and I think I have finally mastered this recipe! It was so light and fluffy and just melt in your mouth🤤! I realized I was probably overbaking the cakes slightly and also I did 1.5 of the recipe and just added the full extra egg white instead of half. Not sure if that "half egg white" extra made a difference but I thought I'd mention in case anyone is doing 1.5 of the recipe.

Hi bakers in the comments! I tried this recipe and I wanted to share my thoughts & reviews incase anyone wanted to try it but wasn't sure!
The recipe itself was super easy to follow along, the cake batter did come out a little thick (not sure if that was something I did wrong) but tasted amazing!
I made a cake strip using the tutorial with the foil & paper towel, they worked wonders! Amazing! 11/10 recommend! it was perfectly flat and beautifully baked - it even came out perfectly golden brown! It cracked a bit on top, but that was on me because it hopped right out of the pan and I wasn't expecting that! Loved it.
I also followed the icing recipe which was amazing as well! I didn't add the pink colouring, I left it white because I thought it it looked elegant lol!
Overall, 1000000/10. I loved this. It came out literally PERFECT. This is definitely gonna be my main cake baking recipe! I absolutely LOVED the cake strip tip, it helped so much! Made this yesterday with one 8 inch cake pan instead of three 6 inches - didn’t double the recipe cause i wanted to see how it would come out. It was a lot smaller than I expected but it tasted great and had a bakery quality to it even with artificial vanilla extract. I also made cream cheese icing and it paired really nicely. For my first time making a cake from scratch, I was quite happy :)

Mind.of.Lilly I think one way to avoid those “silly bubbles” is to make sure that your oven has been preheated and put your cake straight into the oven as soon as you put the batter into the pans. My cake strips are made of old thin (washed of course) towel cut to size, wet, then wrapped in a layer of aluminium foil. Can be used over and over and I wouldn’t make any size cake now without them. And I would also like to say I love the look of this cake with the little roses, your aesthetic is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your wonderful skills, I always enjoy your channel.

This was my first Preppy Kitchen cake recipe. When the cakes first came out of the pan, I was worried that they would fall apart because they seemed so fragile. I forged ahead and proceeded with frosting the layer cake with Italian Meringue Buttercream (also from Preppy Kitchen) and a passionfruit curd filling. (A recreation of one of my wedding cakes for my birthday. 😁) YUUUUUUUM!! It was absolutely perfect and just as good as the professional cake! Thank you so much! ❤️
