Lyrics:
Get up, get up
Come on, come on, lets go
There's just a few things
I think that you should know
Those words at best
were worse than teenage poetry
Fragment ideas
and too many pronouns
Stop it, come on
You're not making sense now
You can't make them want you
They're all just laughing
Literate and stylish (literate and stylish)
Kissable and quiet (kissable and quiet)
Well that's what girls dreams are made of
And that's all you need to know (and that's all you need to know)
You have it or you don't (you have it or you)
You have it or you (don't)
Greatest beefs of all-time
Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.
Nas and Jay-z
Brand New and Taking Back Sunday
Fuck john nolan.
@InSoxWeTrust it's weird because Jesse and Adam were friends
that doesnt matter, it was scene/emo/tryhard kids. that means beefing over everything. Edit: okay I actually did some research, heres why
When TBS was originally founded, Jesse was the bass player as well as back up vocalist for the band. While they were just getting recognition in Long Island and recording their first LP, Jesse left the band to form Brand New. That is a huge thing to do in the middle of a recording. That's when Eddie, founder of the band, recruited Adam. So, the scene during the time took that as they had beef. Because similar situations with other bands during the time ended with beef. However, no members of either band ever confirmed or escalated the situation. Actually, during a TBS Warped Tour stop, someone in the crowd held up a sign saying, "Brand New Was Right" and Adam stopped the show, called the guy out, and asked him to explain himself for perpetuating the feud.
Heywud Jablome I actually know Jesse's cousins in new Jersey and it wasnt a beef. but Jesse had left abruptly due to a band members thoughts or feelings towards his sister Carly. I was at his grandma's funeral but I could hardly act like a fanboy, or ask so what's 70x7 all about?
First of all it was a joke, and the "beef" was between John Nolan and Jesse Lacey. They were best friends growing up and John slept with Jesse's girlfriend. End of story. That's the subject of both "There's no I in Team" and "Seventy Times 7"
I wasnt bullshitting when i said id like this forever... Im almost 30 and this is still dope. hahaha
29 here and I've been pulling out all the old high school music. i'm from long island too and we use to have one hell of a scene. played this whole album today and also senses fail let it unfold you
DUDES, 32. Still crank the TBS
+sevvy84 30 years old here. I still crank Tell All Your Friends on warm Saturday afternoons
i just saw envy on the coast in huntington. last month we saw geoff rickly in amityville. i really miss the long island scene. i saw quicksand play in my friends basement in huntington station lol
T Dawg 25 here lol
Man... just hit the big 3-0, but their music still takes me straight back to high school. I can instantly remember all the jealousy and angst and untequited feelings. And all the hope. And all the passion. In retrospect it’s pretty beautiful that I (we) could feel that, and I’m grateful that this music can remind me of it.
30 this year. tell all your friends was the first cd i ever bought with my own money. what a fucking era.
I turned 40 last year and I feel the same way man.
I just hit the big 3-0 too... I saw Taking Back Sunday in sixth or seventh grade & then again a couple of years later. I'm five years younger than you it seems, which isn't much, & I feel the same way about this music. Middle school was actually some of the worst years of my life as my family had a horrific tragedy & we fell apart. However, dancing angrily & joyously to this simultaneously helped keep me alive. & still does. We are young forever, if only we allow ourselves to be. Age means little (of course within an ethical realm). Our bodies may dissolve with time, but you can retain your fierceness to live.
i do wish I knew people who listened to the music I do. My favourite artist since I was 10 has been Bright Eyes / Conor Oberst. If anyone wants to be friends, respond. I have no idea how to have friends at 30. But supposedly I look 20. & I'm an okay person.
I'm half joking.
You're 35 now and I'm 33 and yes, people think the music we grew up with and movies and video games some would past that, but we just evolved with it. This stuff and this song is part of us, and it's not going away. I love TBS
12 years later....I'm 26. Still have all their songs on my iTunes. Always a TBS fan.
Twelve years later, I'm twelve, and still TBS to the bone.
12 years later and I'm still 17 still love dis shiiit!
+BlueFacondor Are you me?
i like TBS but they have way too much big bang theory, but as long as they have like 6 episodes of friends every day I'll always be a fan too.
Joshua McDowell and me
just discovered this song 2 days ago.... can't get enough of it... its never too late
Tbs till I die
Love this band. Getting close to being classic rock. Dont know how many years i listened
this album was such a nostalgic album in my youth. I'm 41, this was out in my early/mid 20's. I'll never forget how this contributed to my appreciation of music
Glad to have you here bud
I was 13 when this song came out and im so happy you found TBS
Holy nostalgia! The early 2000's.....
Black Shirts, Jeans, Skater Shoes, Long Hair, & Phenomenal Music.......
Fuck I hate growing up. These were the days.
lmao all my friends and i still dress like this
We are on the wrong timeline. Check out the Mandela Effect. But we have the good times.
Taking Back Sunday still the shit; since middle school
Sometimes everything goes wrong. TBS takes me back to simpler time when I was in 10th grade and none of the stresses of today's life.. thankyou for keeping me tethered to rational thoughts.
Ah, the nostalgia. But can we stop to appreciate how clever TBS' lyrics were? C'mon.
I will always say "oh shit!" when I hear 'I've got the mic and you've got the moshpit"
Haa tru
I wish I could listen to this song again for the first time and feel exactly like I did.
This song is a bop. Can't stop playing it summer 2024.
God damn does this album just hold up, stays in my rotation 20 years later. So many hooks and timeless riffs. The way they arranged the vocals with John and Adam is just so good.
Please don't use God's name in vain
The low budget videography is actually perfect because it totally captures the reality of that time. The tiled walls. The cord telephone. The yellowish white walls. Sooo accurate of the late 90s/early 2000s.
Kinda miss those times, money was less but i was young ,naive and full of dreams .
nobody staring at phones, just people hanging out
Hell yeah, very nostalgic.
*cigarette stained walls
that isnt a unique trait of the 90s lmao
@@DrunkHockeyPicks I was going to say tobacco yellow
One of the most underrated bands of all time.
To be fair this was a sick album back in the day
walking home from the bus in October in 7th grade with my a7x hoodie on that was so worn out that the sleeves looked like a family of moths had celebrated thanksgiving inside of it jamming to timberwolves on my ipod while thinking about hanging out with my first crush. Now i'm stuck on a couch fearing for my life... where the time has gone.
Relating hard here. I was 2 years older when this album came out. This takes me back to putting my crush's favorite tbs songs on a mix cd (with other great "pop punk" artists), wearing a black and red Independent shirt with skinny jeans and dvs shoes with a fake barbed wire bracelet and sharpied black nails, with him teaching me how to do a kick flip behind a church in their parking lot that we almost definitely should not have been skateboarding and learning how to play tonsil hockey in... oh to be 14 again 😌
First song I ever heard by TBS and at 33 years old now, it still stands up. So Good!
welcome to the oldies club
The dueling vocals in this song is some of the best out there!!! 🤘🤘
Here I am, about to turn 31..playing this for my almost 6 year old who's sick of my hip hop and asked for some "high energy music" 😂😂😂 This is what my kid is going to consider oldies 🤦🏼♀️😂
I’m 31, just went to the 20th anniversary concert at The Warfield and they STILL bring it! One of the best times in my 30s thus far
Instantly takes me back to 2004-7 at the grotto!
The lack of views hurts my soul.
+Nick agreed. Saw these guys in 2007. Fucking rocked... I can't believe that was almost 10 years ago now...
Dude right
Same
Was it over 1m when you wrote this?
ѕaмe нere. Jesus
The early 2000's was a charm
I think we can all agree that Tell all your friends is the best album of all time, right?
I flip between that and Where You Want To Be as the best TBS albums. They both easily make my top 5/10 albums of all time
fuckin A.. this album makes me dance and ready to jump at everything..
Yes lol
Honestly drives me nuts when ppl try to say any album after Where You Want to Be is TBS’ best album. Their best stuff happened before Louder Now
No, that would be Tool-Lateralus, Deftones-White Pony and Alice In Chains-Dirt. Still a great album and all, but I would take any brand new album (except for YFW, which just sucks basically) over Friends.
This reminds me of my highschool day. When I first smoked pot, my first punk and emo shows, when girls started to be interested in me, got into my first fight and won and my reputation went way up and no one messed with me after that but my biggest focus was girls girls girls lol the good ole days my goal back then was to date as many girls at once without them finding out and that was easier back then because all we had was myspace and only certain people used it back then lol I matured alot once I hit college and met my college sweetheart and only focused on her and ended up having kids young and she passed and I been raising my kids on my own ever since and all my focus is on my kids and I haven't been with anyone since their mom really I tried to get back in the dating game recently but it's hard on me because I know my soulmate is already gone... Life can take a huge turn even when your so happy you think nothing can stop you but just keep sprinting and never stop... I'm tearing up as I type this... Life is so short so please just enjoy it with people that make you feel like you are the only one in their life.... 😢
I love the dance moves during cooking of the popcorn its classic
alright starfire.
This song evaded me for years after falling hard for it on a mix CD (when those were still dope) and I finally found it years later or, found me. Always one of my favorites. ❤️
It's 2022, this is off a top 10 album ever made...and this is my first time ever seeing this video.
i miss this so much
Everyone will bash Emo to no end but these were awesome times.
I was first listening to this back in 2006. I like how the music video is dark but doesn't take itself too seriously either.
When everyone was young and skinny lol.
What if I told you this isn't even remotely 'emo.' I know two year old comment but it sort of irks me how people just blindly accept things, genres, terms etc without any digging. Grade, Indian Summer, City of Caterpillar, that stuff was 'emo' or it's true name Emotive Hardcore.
To be honest what people today think of as 'emo' would be best described as a watered down, more polished, more consumable rehash of post emo. Bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, Penfold, Texas is the Reason, they influenced the rise of bands like Thursday, Jimmy Eat World, TBS, Brand New etc and unfortunately somewhere along the line some clown-shoe called it "emo" and it just stuck. It's unfortunate really. It started a domino effect, screamo even ended up being just as bastardized as emo was. Sad.
Rich Luna i remember buying this cd the first day it came out. Turned into my favorite band still to this day.
@@thatguyonstage So, I'm a bit confused. Do you mourn the 'mis-use' of the term Emo, because of a fondness for the bands that come through post-hardcore?? Or? Either way, I'm madly, hopelessly aroused. Lol.Jk
@@mywhychromosome it's just a pet peeve of mine. Basic understanding of this genre, what it is and what it isn't doesn't take a lot of effort. I mean the difference between actual emo and the mallcore nonsense that gets labeled as such is like night and day. Take just about any hot topic band then listen to something like Anomie, it's not even remotely similar. It's like comparing folk to grindcore.
@@thatguyonstage No, I get it, what I was trying to understand was whether you disliked the later bands, preferred the earlier ones, or liked both but were irked by what you considered mislabeling. But I see what you're saying. I will throw my 2 cents in, though, and just say that genres, just like language, are only as useful as the majority of people knowing what you are referring to when you use them, and that concept being shared. So essentially, Britney Spears could be metal, if things somehow mutated enough for the majority of people to agree to that. There's really not a huge connection musically between The Promise Ring and My Chemical Romance, say, but that's the way the lineage went in terms of popular verbiage--even if it was just as simple as the latter bands mentioning the earlier ones as their influences in interviews. Like it or not, when the term is dropped, the overwhelming majority of people will think of bands like Taking Back Sunday, like Jimmy Eat World, even Fallout Boy, to an extent, and because that is the case, that makes it 'accurate'.
windows movie maker?
I love Elfen Lied so much!
While I also love elfin lied, this picture is forsure from perfect blue xD
TBS and Brand New have been two of my favorite bands forever now
The most relatable comment I have ever seen on youtube. It sounds dumb but I'm drunk as fuck and these two bands represent a massive part of my development as a human being. This is the real shit, right here.
Love them both as well!!!
Did u know they had a beef back then
Yup, these 2 go hand in hand for me. Still love both to this day. If they play together I'll sell my furniture for a ticket lol
@@prestondweh kill beef, go HAM.
What beef?
this along with There’s No I In Team are the greatest diss tracks in history.
Here I am 34 years of age regret that i never gave taking back Sunday a real chance in my middle school/ high school days. Instead I was into hardcore at the time. I think I missed out on some great shows.
I wish music was this simple again
same
I say this every day
What happened?
The Rights of The Reader social media ruined it
Yup
Turn 27 may 16th. Just going thru memories realizing this piece of me never left. Lots of good and bad memories, just sorting them is hard. Much love everyone
2024 - Yep, song still rocks hard.
TBS is and always will be one of the best bands...period
TBS has over a million Spotify listeners in 2021. Let's gooooo!
I will never forget middle school yelling down the halls and my BF "i got the mic" and hearing back "you got the mosh pit". Damn feels like yesterday but yet so long ago 💚
"damn" means "to curse"
Ultimate sing-along
their first album is such a banger. never heard a more perfect album.
By far their best
second is superb as well.
I know this came out in 2001 or 2002 but I found this band around 2005 or 2006 and fell completely in love with this song and video. Now looking back, I still love it.
Sometimes I dress up in my old clothes and listen to this for funsies.
🤣 this comment is only mildly disturbing
@@LoadingNPC04 That's nostalgia for you.
Still sing it in the shower for sure.
Hope you are still doing it 👍
dedication
I've got the mic, you've got the mosh pit!
Absolutely best album of all time
Damn... It's like some kind of good marinade... I let the music soak and rest for decades... I come back and BAM it's a one-way ticket down memory lane... Bless all of you beautiful people.
Well that screaming certainly was a lovely surprise
If you guys like this and are interested in a band you might have missed out on:
Northstar - Pollyana(album)
Im pretty sure TBS has thanked Northstar, and noted in the tayf liner notes "thanks northstar, best band ever."
Cheers. TAYF is a legendary album, btw. It was in my top 5 for long periods of time.
0:40 hes chillin on a 3rd gen Honda Prelude !!! I owned a 1991 SI the same color
I'll never forget the TAYF10 tour. One of the greatest concert experiences.of my life seeing one of my favorite bands playing one of my favorite albums.
tbs house of blues 2010 best concert ever! I was pregnant at the time but didn't know it yet. when my sons older i can't wait to tell him he was at a taking back sunday concert!
I’m almost 30 and I just noticed the Kirkland’s soap in the background 😂 I have a whole new appreciation for this video
Costco soap.
This brings me back in the best way possible.
The good ol' days. Nostalgia.
I’m still listening to these guys 💜
I'm about to turn 38 and I still love it!
Me too
Had a customer come up to me at work the other day and we ended up talking about old bands and he asked if anyone still listens to tbs, it sent me into a tbs binge for the last 2 weeks. Still love it just as much as when I first heard it.
This is like a school project I love it
First big live show in Orlando post covid was TBS, evergreen terrace, and emery. Great show, great energy.
I've been listening to this song for over 10 years now

Tell all your friends is still my go to album after 23 years
Ha. When I was your age there were great bands like this. I thought there would always be bands like this. Now I just listen to the same 10 bands I did back then. I miss 2001 - 2005. :(
I hear ya, I miss 02’-06’ ✌🏽🤙🏽
2016 and still my favorite +10 years later
still listening ;)
was listening to this and brand new not giving a shit about a feud back in early 2k's. both were the soundtrack of my college years along with bayside.
This was one of my very first songs I had on my ipod nano
This was the best era of TBS
I love this song, but this video looks like it was made as a high school project - was that intentional? or did they literally have no money back then?
boo453 I think that it was intentional. Underground bands have professional videos made and they don't even have much money
the cwte song's mv is pretty well made,i guess this ones intentional
It was a wild time called 2001
These are the best type of music videos. The high production ones are mostly shit
Reminds me of Alkaline Trio's video for Goodbye Forever.
This song throws me back to driving my jeep home from High school blasting this song. I can close my eyes and actually be there. Its like nothing else.
Turning 37 next month...and now I miss going to basement shows.💕
Pabst Blue Ribbon!
Saw them live in Orlando back in the day...great band and awesome live show!
Was it in like 2003? If so I was there too man!
I will never stop loving this band
I’m curious, you still love this band?
wow this old memorys, will love this still in 2020
My love for TBS defies time - 14 years later
So small rant... I feel a part of me appreciates the growth experienced since I first listened to this band and many more like it back in 2003 at 12 years old but part of me misses the huge heart and ammount of hopefulness I had back then. I'll listen until the angst and love comes pouring back.
addicted to this song
Yes!!! I forgot about this music video. Still listening to Taking Back Sunday after all these years.
Annie Honeybee sooo hot
Junior year High School this was it
Idk about that, ya girl over heredidnt like high school at all🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️😬😬😂😂😂
I wish I got to experience this as a teen.
Found this band in seventh grade, I'm 30 years old, and still love "Tell all your friends" front to back. Baggy ass jeansss tho!!!!! Jesus Christ, the tight shirts with baggy pants just looked so bad. Worse than the super tight pants and loose fitting shirts of 2019. 🤦🏼♂️😂😂💯🙅🏼♂️ BTW, how the hell soes TBS only have 90k subscriber wise?
I've listened to all of their albums, know every lyric, yet this is the first time I'm seeing this music video for some reason. I was taking a drink of water when the scene of Adam in the shower started, and I inhaled water and I just started choking.
No rap beef, street beef, or any beef at all will compare to the beef between Brand New and Taking Back Sunday.
The most early 2000s music video possible. Clsssic. Gotta love how different the TAYF album sounds
My feed went from Paramore to Yellowcard to Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to TBS. It’s a good day
And I love all 4 bands 🤘🏼
Good music is timeless that's why when I'm 60 I'll still be listening to tell all your friends.
i had a pair of jeans i wrote the lyrics to this song all over #findingemo

Mail them to me. Like I. *need them*
Saw this live the other week. My life has changed since. Thank you🤘🏽
I got the mic and you got the moshpit.
Molly M sounds like tbs and brand new feud
Truly one of the best music videos of all time.
